The setting, the facilities and the hosts.

The fact that there was a rowdy flag bearing group next to us having a party until gone past 11pm talking at the top of their voices, women cackling and swearing showed us that this was not the serene peaceful camp as advertised! The first night I had 2hrs sleep and my husband had to ask them to keep the noise down (which they didn’t) and the 2nd night we had to sleep in our van to deaden the noise because the party continued. Our weekend was spoilt because we really wanted peace and quiet and to be able to relax. The website said no hen parties etc are allowed, that’s why we chose it! Don’t get me wrong, we are in our early 50s, but we’re also cool, done it all and worn the t shirt old skool and traveled the world. We wouldn’t be moaning unless it was bad. For a campsite, the noise from this one group hijacked our weekend. Yes we could have found another pitch, but after driving then spending an hour putting up our tent and arranging stove, beds etc we just didn’t think we should have to, and didn’t expect it to go on for 2 nights. We probably won’t stay again, just because despite what the site says, peace and quiet is not guaranteed.

Everything was lovely and clean and in a beautiful setting with Ellesmere lake just through a gate so great for walking, the hosts also gave you a map of the local area and walks and on the back were places to visit and activities near by,showers and toilets clean,lovely hosts David and Ingrid very helpful and friendly. The site is also dog friendly and offers other types of accommodation so you don't need to own a Caravan/Motorhome or Tent to use this site.

The location was perfect. Lovely walks and wildlife galore. We were close to the amenities the owners where present and always working. Lovely weekend away.

2 showers per female/male block meant queues. 2 sinks tk was pots also meant queues but it was always clean and friendly. And what else where we there for I suppose.

Great open campsite big pitches. Nice owners, showers are always hot.

Very peaceful location, right by a beautiful lake and woods. Lots of birds around to listen to with a cuppa.

Clean facilities which weren’t too busy. A lovely little cabin/snug area to sit on the sofa and chat to people and we managed to watch some of the Olympics!

We arrived quite late, around 5pm and it was busy on a warm Saturday. Luckily we found a non-electric pitch that wasn’t too close to other campers.

As always with beautiful campsites like this, one wishes less people knew about it! Hardly the owners fault though ;)

Location and pitch size, some of which were separated by long uncut grasses and wildflowers. Very peaceful site (once most of the campers left on the Sunday)

Some un-level pitches due to the site being full the weekend we stayed. The gaps in the saloon doors to the bathroom cubicles (only one which was in the men’s loo).

The kingfisher yurt was beautiful. Great clean toilets and good communal social area. Lots of walks around the area. Peaceful and able to hire a fire pit.
