We were really looking forward to a relaxing camping trip, but unfortunately, this site didn't live up to expectations.
Firstly, the campsite is small and poorly managed. Despite there being marked pitches, people didn’t follow the layout. The tent next to us encroached well over the lines, leaving us feeling crammed. It felt like a free-for-all rather than a well-organised site.
Noise was a serious issue. Quiet hours were clearly not enforced. Loud music and shouting children carried on past 10pm, and parents made little to no effort to control their kids. It didn't help that football was being played in the camping area instead of the designated field. Our tent and car were actually hit, which is completely unacceptable.
Another frustration was the location of the toilets, a bit of a trek, and they’re part of the pool facilities rather than proper campsite amenities. And speaking of the pool, we were shocked to find out it cost an extra £6.50 per person to use. It just didn’t feel like value for money.
All in all, we left more stressed than relaxed. This could be a great spot with some basic management and respect for the rules, but as it stands, we wouldn’t return or recommend it.

Thank you for your review and we are sorry that our humble site did not live up to your expectations.
We do have members of the volunteer staff who check the site twice daily to discuss pitching concerns with and also members of the pool staff can contact the campsite manager. Our site is not a 'free for all' but due to it being so small we do allow pitching on a first come, first served basis. This being said the size of pitches is made clear on the pitch up website and check in confirmation email.
We apologize regarding the noise, however, it is difficult to enforce the quiet hours. We trust in campers being respectful towards each other and the space they are sharing.
Regarding the additional pool cost and location of toilets, this is all clearly stated on our Pitch Up listing.
The campsite and swimming pool are both charities which are non profit making. They are run and managed purely by volunteers. Lazonby is a very small, rural village offering a minimalistic camping experience with the opportunity to visit the community outdoor pool. We are sorry you did not enjoy your stay.
