Op-Die-Plaas Kamp

Always wanted to try some of South Africa’s famed wine? You can head off on a trip past the Towerkop Nature Reserve to Calitzdorp (55 minutes away) for tastings and tours at various cellar doors from this park. Further along is Oudtshoorn (an hour and 25 minutes), known for its ostrich farms where visitors can take to tractors for tours around fields filled with big birds. If you’re really taken by these creatures, you could also head to the C.P Nel Museum to see ostrich-themed exhibits as well as bits and bobs about local history. More animals are over in the Cango Wildlife Ranch, also an hour and 25 minutes' drive, with cheetah and lemur encounters (along with croc-cage diving for particularly fearless visitors). If Cape Town’s the final destination on your hol, detour to Bontebok National Park (two hours and 15 minutes’ drive) and amble alongside the antelopes that roam here.
