Budding archaeologists and art historians, this site has your name written all over it: Agricamper Villa Julia Pompei sits on the edge of the ancient city of Pompeii – the entrance to the Archaeological Park can be reached within a five-minute drive. If you play your cards right and make your move immediately after an early breakfast, you might well be the first person in when the gate opens. But the proximity to this important artistic and archaeological site is only one of the reasons to commend this peaceful site – the other major one being its location at the foot of Mount Vesuvius. Being greeted by views of the volcano first thing in the morning is a pretty special feeling. Spacious grass and gravel pitches occupy a large garden surrounded by citrus groves, and the site comes with a number of family-friendly amenities, including a parent-and-baby washroom, a barbecue station and shaded dining areas, plus a pétanque court (they call it ‘bocce’ here) and a TV room. A toilet block with facilities for disabled guests, showers and a washing-up area complete the picture. Dogs are welcome here, and the site owners will be happy to pick you up from the train station of Villa Regina, which links to Naples to the north (half an hour by railway) and Sorrento to the south (40 minutes). There are several supermarkets within a 10-minute drive… but why cook your own food when you’re in one of the most gastronomically interesting regions of Italy? The modern town of Pompei (10 minutes’ drive) has plenty of pizzerias and restaurants serving Neapolitan specialities.

喜欢: Nice location of the campsite overlooking the Vesuvius volcano. The campsite is in a residential area, you drive through narrow streets and enjoy the true face of Italy. Historic Pompeii is about 2 km on foot or 10 minutes by car. There is plenty of parking in Pompeii, each at a different price. You can bargain at some of them. Be careful if you go with your dog. Dogs are allowed in Pompeii, but only smaller dogs - up to 10 kg. Dogs are welcome at the campsite. The owner is very friendly, helpful and communicative. The staff is also kind and helpful. There are citrus trees in the campsite, it gives a touch of exoticism. You can also buy lemon liqueur and other small things at the reception. The toilets and showers are very clean. Always with toilet paper and soap. I also recommend visiting the town of Amalfi (about 45 min by car) Very nice holiday. Thank you Mr Pasquale Lauro. 喜欢: Den Platz können wir nicht bewerten da nicht angefahren

不喜欢: Da die Lage des Platzes in einer für uns absolut hässlichen Gegend war haben wir kurzfristig beschlossen nicht dort zu bleiben und haben uns einen anderen Platz gesucht. Die Straßen waren super eng, so dass man dort kaum mit dem Minicamper fahren konnte und zu Fuß nicht gerade ungefährlich war. Urlaub bedeutet für uns auch eine schöne Umgebung und das war dort nicht gegeben.

喜欢: De camping, de ruime plekken, het warme welkom, het uitzicht op de Vesuvius, de leuke zitjes en de prachtige bomen en planten. Goed onderhouden allemaal. Sanitair is prima en schoon.

不喜欢: De infrastructuur naar de camping toe. Het is een hele tour om je caravan of grotere camper door de nauwe straatjes te manoeuvreren. Terug zelfs de caravanspiegels eraf gelaten.

喜欢: Wir waren eine Woche auf dem Campingplatz. Uns hat der Platz gefallen. In der Nähe ist eine Bahnstation, von der man nach Sorrento und Neapel kommt. Nach Pompei sind es 2 km gut zu Fuß erreichbar.

The Archaeological Park of Pompeii is known for the colourful frescoes of the Villa dei Misteri, the well-preserved mosaics of the House of the Faun and assorted temples. The vast site, which was buried by lava and burning ash spewing out of Vesuvius in 79 AD, also includes the Antiquarium Museum, displaying artefacts unearthed at the site. Built in the late 19th century, the vast Santuario della Beata Vergine Maria del Santo Rosario di Pompei (five minutes’ drive) can hold more than 2,000 people in its richly decorated interior dominated by a gilded organ. Exhibits in the Diocesan Museum include votive offerings. If you fancy a hike (or if you want to see up close what led to the destruction of Pompeii), Vesuvio National Park (25 minutes) has a network of trails, including one crossing the ominously named Valley of Hell. Keep your eyes peeled for foxes and bats, plus peregrine falcons and marsh harriers.
