Spend your next hol dawdling in the dunes at Camping de la Mer, a seaside site where the sands of Stella beach in Pas-de-Calais are accessible directly from the grounds. Making a quick dash over from Britain? It’s also within easy reach of ferry ports, with Calais about an hour and 10 minutes’ drive away. Once you’ve arrived, activities to get stuck into are plentiful: this prime park in northern France has partnerships with many a local tour organiser, so you can learn to surf, kayak across the sea or take a walking tour of nearby bays in search of seals. More interested in hanging out with horses? An equestrian centre is a 20-minute drive away to the north in the larger town of Le Touquet, also home to a golf course and waterpark. Heading south instead, make for Parc Bagatelle for rides and rollercoaster to suit the younger enfants in their travel squad; the parkland here is also ace for picnicking. Back on base (with an ice cream in hand from the on-site vendor in high season), check in with Camping de la Mer’s friendly staff to get their top tips on the things to do and sights to see in the local area. For extra info, also chat to the chaps at the tourist information office in Stella-Plage town, a 20-minute walk away past the supermarket.

喜欢: So close to a truly amazing beach. The staff were really friendly and informative with a good standard of English, which is so helpful to useless English folk who don't speak an other languages!

不喜欢: The toilet facilities are quite basic and our Sat Nov couldn't find the site but google maps stepped up.

喜欢: Location right on the beach. Showers were good.

不喜欢: 1. Woman on reception was not very friendly. 2. Passport copies were taken. 3. No toilet seats. 4. No toilet roll. 5. Site very shabby. 6. Gates closed at 9pm. Would not recommend this site.

喜欢: Vg position and access to beach and nearby towns. Friendly owners. The owners responded as quickly as they could to a noise problem in the middle of the night with some very irresponsible and selfish campers and sorted it out. Out of season more space on pitches and generally quieter.

喜欢: Nothing to like about site but close to the beach

不喜欢: Gates closing at 9 no showers at 9 pm no noise , or ball games , passport details copied . Defiantly not a place to stay if your looking for adventures

来自经理: Ah oui c'est sur que nous sommes pas un camping cap fun , ici nous aimons le calme et cette espace dunaire dans toute son authenticité... proche de la nature si vous voulez des sensations fortes ....passez votre chemin et lisez ce que nous proposons comme service avant de réserver ...vous aurez pris connaissance des heures d'arrivées et des conditions de réservations à quoi sert les sites de réservations ???....

喜欢: One night stopover but would definitely return and stay a couple of nights. Unfortunately I'd read the terrible reviews on trip advisor but don't! Or if you do, take with a pinch of salt and go with an open mind! I feel they are unjustified after seeing it with my own eyes. Perfect location almost on the wide sandy beach. Walkable to at least one town (although we didn't, as we just sat in the van eating baguettes and cheese and drinking Rose :-) Yes, the toilet block closes at 9pm to make sure you've had your showers and brushed your teeth. There are toilets available all night on the outside of the block. Just no hand washing so be prepared to wash in the camper or at a tap during the night. Owner is shrift but perfectly helpful and also helpfully speaks better English than my French. No deposit was required but I think it might be for tents. All in all a great stay and I wouldn't hesitate to return. Amazing for 21 euros for the night incl electricity which we didn't actually plug in to. Bring your toilet roll!

If you’re swayed by the idea of learning to sail, do it on the sand instead of sea at a school in Berck 20 minutes’ drive south of the park. Or is the water where you’ll want to be? If so, a place for renting standup paddleboards, pedal boats and jetskis is around 10 minutes away. Have an ocean experience without getting wet at the aquariums of the Maréis - Sea Fishing Discovery Center (20 minutes’ drive), or go to take a look at the thousands of underwater creatures at the Nausicaá National Sea Center 50 minutes away in Boulogne-sur-Mer. Inland and outdoors is Montreuil’s old town (25 minutes) and the Vallée de la Course (35 minutes), for flitting around a pretty landscape dotted with farmhouses, posh mansions and churches. Castles are (of course) around here too – drive half an hour to Château de Recques-sur-Course to mosey around a stately Louis XV-style structure.
