Can’t choose between the Dales and the Lakes? This conundrum comes up on many a northern break, so here's a site with a nifty location to keep your options open. Strange though it may seem, it turns out that a cracking way to explore national parks in Yorkshire and Cumbria is to settle down on the northern edge of Lancashire. Low Greenlands Holiday Park is in Tewitfield, a peaceful village with perks including canalside walks, miniature golf and fresh farm produce. Although many pass through here on the way to jaunts in the Lakes and Dales, there's plenty to get up to in this part of the world: aquatic adventure is on hand at the local watersports centre (five minutes' drive), while Leighton Moss, a wildlife haven popular with twitchers, joggers and sketchers, is also close by (10 minutes). This park makes a convenient base for all manner of stays, whether you're planning on spending your days locally or fancy roaming far and wide. There's a lot to like here, including spacious pitches, hillside views, handy laundry facilities and internet access. The site's pet-friendly rules, meanwhile, are good news for guests travelling with canine companions in tow. When the weather is fine, a good barbecue can't be beat: pick up supplies for alfresco eats at the local farm shop, 100 yards down the road.

Gostou: Very good, when called the number the gentleman was really helpful, I went for my birthday and the cabin was so clean and it was great!

Não gostou: The only thing I would say is that the curtain didn’t fully fit the front door so it left a gap so in the morning the sun would shine in. But apart from that it was great

Gostou: Clean and tidy site. Amenities were of a high standard.

Não gostou: Excessive road noise. This site should not call itself a Holiday Park, as there was nothing but the pitches ,pods and the amenities block. No where to walk the dog.

We MAKE IT VERY CLEAR PRIOR TO AND WHEN BOOKING by providing a park plan and access to an aerial video tour of the local area and our park to MAKE IT VERY CLEAR that our park is adjacent to an A road. With this information you still chose to book. We have a dog walking area to the park entrance and many walks available from our park entrance. We call ourselves a holiday parks as we offer luxury glamping pods, luxury house with hot tub and caravan pitches. The fact you just used a caravan pitch does not make us a caravan park, hence why we are a 'holiday park.'

Gostou: Nice small tidy site, toilet facilities clean and well maintained. Staff helpful. EHU easy to connect. It was nice and peaceful. Nice canal walk nearby.

Não gostou: There is a 100 yard walk along the side of a busy road to get to the nearest attraction and walks, as there is no path. This was quite stressful as my dog is very wary of cars so having them zoom past at 60mph whilst you are walking on the road wasn't great.

Gostou: The peace and quiet, and the great location. First time ever we went and had breakfast at Greenlands Farm Village we bought some meat too. The site is well kept and had a nice little chin wag with the owner. Used disabled/family room for our shower which was lovely. The weather too was amazing, but I know that cannot be ordered we will be back. X

Gostou: A very well kept site, a little road noise but nothing that would spoil your holiday. Owner very accommodating. Visited lower Greenwood farm, and restaurant and shop. Breakfast was lovely. Meat that we bought a little expensive compared to super markets but was far more than super market meat. Owner very accommodating. Thank you for a great stay.

Gostou: Quiet and tidy , although not many vans Site at the time. Facilities were good and clean Handy for the motorway and local area.

Não gostou: Being close to the road it was a bit noises particularly in Friday evening.

Gostou: Very clean site. Toilets clean, pitches very spacious and well played out. Email before arrival states all important information required. Security barrier on entrance to site. Only one way in and out so very safe site. Perfectly level pitch

For kid-pleasing times, make Greenlands Farm Village your first port of call (100 yards from site). Miniature golf, a playground, archery and cuddly farm animals are all on the cards here (there's also a garden centre, restaurant and well-stocked farm shop for grownup guests). For a family-friendly day at the beach, head to Morecambe Bay (20 minutes' drive), where adventurous types can sort watersports and fishing adventures. Green-fingered guests heading up to the Lakes should call in at Levens Hall (15 minutes), a historic house near Kendal with top-notch topiary. Kendal (20 minutes) is an artsy town on the edge of the national park, a leisurely drive from spots like Lake Windermere (15 minutes from Kendal or 25 minutes from site) and Cartmel Fell (25 minutes or 30 minutes). Most trips down to the Dales, meanwhile, will pass through Kirkby Lonsdale, a market town on the river Lune (20 minutes). Stop off here to admire the scenery at Ruskin's View or for a stroll over the Devil's Bridge, or carry on for outdoorsy attractions like Hardraw Force and Malham Cove (both about an hour from site).
