Get set for some stunning views… Even a very brief browse through the pictures here will tip you off that Armenistis Camping and Bungalows is in a most enviable location. That beach, that sparkling blue sea, that view across to Mount Athos – they’re all right next to this Sithonia site 15 minutes north of Sarti. Fancy settling down here to soak up those gorgeous views? Of course you do – and there’s plenty of space to pick your spot around the 120 acres of the site. It’s well supplied with cool shaded corners too, as the sandy shore gives way to a wooded area of pines and plane trees (just the thing for a cool afternoon nap…) This site has been in operation since 1982, and in the intervening years the team have honed their offerings to make sure guests have as carefree a time as possible here. Practicalities like a well-stocked supermarket, a wifi service, an on-site doctor and bike hire are all sorted, and there’s also a good range of things on the leisure front, including a playground, kids’ activities and a fitness area. Not content simply staring at the sea? Sign up on site for watersports (including windsurfing, sea kayaking, sailing and scuba diving) or book a boat trip to take you away to more far-flung coastal spots. City visits and history tours can be organised here too. Back at base, the restaurant and snack bar are on hand for meals large and small, and there’s also a café and a beach bar for drinks throughout the day. Evenings on site are often filled with live music, open-air films and other entertainment.

Attractions à proximité

If you fancy having a go at some water-based activities, this is a good place to aim for – the beach by the site has excellent conditions for beginners to try out their technique, while more intrepid types can sign up for self-propelled kayak or paddleboarding trips along the coastline. Kavourotripes beach is often a favourite on these tours; if you don’t feel up to kayaking all the way you can drive there in 10 minutes instead. For a taste of the area’s history and inland scenery, take a trip to Meteora to see some spectacular rock formations and marvel at how the area’s monasteries made it into their precarious cliffside locations. Thessaloniki, Greece’s second city, is certainly worth hauling yourself off the beach for, too. It’s a great city to wander around, with lots of tasty food and historic sights along the way. Both Meteora and Thessaloniki can be reached on day trips organised by the site, or are about an hour and 40 minutes away by car.
