  • Luxury glamping cabin on a farm in the Carmarthenshire hills
  • A 15-minute drive to Narberth; half an hour to Saundersfoot
  • Internal barbecue, separate kitchen, a fire box and a deck with views
A premium-quality wooden cabin on a working farm in West Wales, Caban Cefn Gwlad Penclippin is surrounded by woodland. With an uncluttered Scandinavian feel to its design, this secluded spot is just the place for couples looking to spend quality time à deux. So, luxurious glamping with a definite touch of class. With a double bed and cosy seating area, the cabin interior is centred around an internal barbecue (yes, really), complete with swivel grill for cooking over the fire, a pan warmer and kettle. There’s a fire box outside on the decking, if you’d like to dine under the stars, and a fully equipped kitchen and shower room about 20 metres away from your front door. There are spectacular Carmarthenshire hill views from the terrace, and direct access to the surrounding fields for quiet strolls. The beaches of Tenby (40 minutes’ drive) and Saundersfoot (half an hour) are also close by for blowy walks and a dip in the sea on a sunny day. If you fancy something a bit more demanding in the activity states, the Pembrokeshire Coast Path is a short drive away for day-long yomps with fabulous headland views. Although you may never want to be parted from your romantic rural retreat, the town of Narberth (15 minutes) is the place to pick up foodie treats in its delis and linger over coffee in cute little teashops.

Clychau'r Gog cabin

Liked: The quite, the solitude. The fact that there is only the one cabin on the site. The cabin is fantastic the layout and the space. The cabins grounds are secure for the dogs to play. Really can't be picky. The toilet, showers and cooking are away from the cabin and are quite hand made. But they are serviceable and spotlessly clean. And the fact that the owner stocks the kitchen with tea, coffee, sugar, milk and Crosants, I really can't complain. It is idilic there. Also you get free firewood and there is and indoors firepit as well as an outdoor one. The countryside is absolutely stunning. It is so nice there we have been there twice now, and are planning on coming back in a couple for years.

Disliked: Tiny tiny gripe. The mattress is a bit too firm for my partners back, it was fine for me. Our fault for not bringing a mattress topper. Sorry

Clychau'r Gog cabin

Liked: The cabin is a fantastic getaway for those taking a break with your beloved dog, the site is secure, quiet and totally relaxing. Penni your host is welcoming and had kindly left a welcoming gift which was a lovely surprise. The cabin is comfortable and secluded and although based on a working farm you'd hardly notice it. For travelling around Pembrokeshire it's very conveniently located. We arrived early afternoon and it was a great place to unwind and over the next 4 days we visited everything that had been planned.

Disliked: Absolutely nothing to dislike

If you feel like communing with the animals, take a llama for a stroll at Pembrokeshire Llamas (15 minutes’ drive), watch comical penguin adventures in the pool at Folly Farm Adventure Park and Zoo (20 minutes) or spot tigers and rhinos at Manor Wildlife Park (half an hour). In need of higher-octane adventures? Try out the rollercoasters at Oakwood Theme Park (20 minutes). Looking for some chilled time spent walking in untamed surroundings? Head for Llys y Frân Country Park and Reservoir (25 minutes), where you can stroll the waterside or up the energy levels by taking a kayak out on the water. There are also numerous hiking possibilities along the Pembrokeshire Coast Path, the Preseli Hills and in Pembrokeshire Coast National Park (all 45 minutes). A day of urban adventures on the agenda? The number-one port of call may well be Pembroke (35 minutes), with its mighty riverside castle and plenty of indie shops and craft galleries to have a nose around. Up on the north coast, Fishguard (40 minutes) has a delightful harbour lined with pubs and glorious sea views from the clifftops.
