  • Spectacular setting for the Gower Peninsula, overlooking Oxwich Bay
  • Refurbished eco-friendly shower block with underfloor heating
  • Large adventure playground
You will, of course, have heard of the great Gower Peninsula. This spectacular south Wales spot of cliffs, coves, caves and bays is so handsome it was designated the first Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in the UK way back in 1956, made up of 70 square miles from Loughor Estuary to Swansea Bay; if you've never been, this really must be on your holiday list. The folk at award-winning Greenways of Gower Premier Leisure Park reckon their location is 'second to none' for Gower camping – and once you arrive there, you'll reckon they're right. Right in the centre of the peninsula, Greenways overlooks stunning Oxwich Bay and its two and a half miles of golden sands, once named as the best beach in Britain; Rhossili Bay, several times voted the best beach in Wales, is under 20 minutes' drive from here. Greenways is a family-run and family-orientated park, with grass pitches and plenty of space. Gratified previous guests have lauded the amenities as 'exceptional': they include an eco-friendly and modern shower block with underfloor heating running off an air source heat pump, plus disabled facilities and a parent and baby washroom. For leisurely pursuits, a big adventure playground is next to the camping area. There's also a pizza truck and a pop-up bar on site (these two are available on weekends in the summer or on bank holidays). Shops and restaurants are within walking distance.

Non-electric grass tent, campervan or trailer tent pitch

Liked: Facilities were clean and comfortable with underfloor heating. There were many flat pitches to choose from and the location and views great.

Disliked: Nothing to do with the site but it was a hard walk to the beach( many steps ). If you don’t want to walk to the beach you can take the car which will cost £8 to park!!! Not good for a quick visit.

Non-electric grass tent, campervan or trailer tent pitch

Liked: Fabulous location, had a choice where to park up. Staff were lovely and friendly. Facilities were clean and lots of showers, loos to chose from. We had extraordinary weather with a 5 hour thunder and lighning show. The view of Oxwich Bay lit up by the lightning was something very special. The grass got a bit boggy with all the rain but that couldn't be helped. 2 minute walk down to the beach with lovely cafe and nice hotel for a glass of vino. Noticed some visitors using the saunas on the beach then taking a dip in the sea. I'm afraid i wasn't brave enough for that. Will definitely return.

Disliked: Nothing

Non-electric grass tent, campervan or trailer tent pitch

Liked: Facilities were clean and well attended to by staff. There were places to eat nearby and pubs to have a drink plus the campsite was easy to locate. The grass was cut and there was plenty of space to pitch tents. It felt rather laidback to other sites I've been to. We went during a horrible storm and luckily there were drying facilities, and generally the indoor areas such as the bathroom and shower facilities were heated and warm.

Liked: Great location, easy check in and out process, great facilities and food on site.

Disliked: Unfortunate that the ice cream truck was allowed to roam around the camp site post 8pm and still blaring its music post 9.15pm.

Non-electric grass tent, campervan or trailer tent pitch

Liked: As always it is great place to stay. There is plenty space. Free showers, freezer where you can put your ice blocks, coffee machine, also there is pizza bus on site. Short walk or drive from a beautiful Oxwich bay. Also you can book a pitch for one night, not like anywhere else where you need to book for at least two. 20 minutes drive from Llangennith with beautiful beach, where you can also surf. Play area for kids.

Non-electric grass tent, campervan or trailer tent pitch

Liked: Clean, good shower and toilet facilities, ample space to pitch tents. On site pizza and bar (not open every night) were a nice touch. Security patrols through the night gave a welcome extra peace of mind.

Disliked: Nothing to dislike, will definitely visit again.

Local attractions

The stunning sands of Oxwich Bay and their fringe of dunes, woodland and coastal footpath should be your first Gower Peninsula port of call, for long lazy days sunbathing and sandcastle building, summer watersports such as sailing, swimming, windsurfing and diving, and boat and jetski launch from the beach. Around the sands, this is prime walking land: take the Gower Coast Path from the bay for a three-and-a-half-mile coastal and woodland ramble to Oxwich Point, or around the same distance from the bay to Port Eynon Walk via Three Cliffs Bay and Port Head. The wetland site of Oxwich National Nature Reserve, a Site of Special Scientific Interest, is also well worth a wander. For a city sightseeing day, Swansea is half an hour's drive from the park.
