Electric hardstanding pitch

Liked: Nice walk in the fields next to the site. Decent shower with hot water that you could change the temperature of and take off the wall.

Disliked: Did not seem very clean I.e. someone's towel left ganging in the shower room, dirty bucket next to women's toilet. Only 2 toilets and 1 shower available. The pitches seemed small and unmarked.

Electric hardstanding pitch

Liked: Very friendly owners, came straight to us as we pulled in. Two area to stay, one grass and one gravel. Easy pitching on a slight slope so used chocks. Beautiful area, excellent pub nearby. Bluebells everywhere. Next to national trust.

Disliked: Only two loos, one for male and one for female. Female loo was not very clean and there was a dirty bucket of water left in corner. Soap dispenser fell apart on use.

Electric hardstanding pitch

Liked: Dawn was friendly.

Disliked: The washing room was damp and mouldy, the overall cleanliness wasn't great. The train track runs alongside the site with no proper fencing to stop children venturing where they shouldn't. The train was annoying but eventually became white noise

Electric grass pitch

Liked: Peaceful surroundings except the few moments that a train that passes through twice an hour - not an issue until 6am though. Clean shower unit with good hot water supply and toilets which are very close to the grass and hardstanding area. Pitch was level and well maintained for easy pitch up and comfortable sleeping.

Disliked: Mouldy pot washing area with no hot water. Nothing much for the kids to do / trampoline was not safe to use.

Electric grass pitch

Liked: Great communication from the getgo. Great welcome on arrival. Grass pitches were way to wet to stay on so we were offered the hard standing touring pitch which was great. Nice clean amenities and great overall site.

Disliked: Not much.

Local attractions

So you’ve visited medieval Salisbury (25 minutes’ drive), gazed at the Magna Carta in Salisbury Cathedral and (hopefully) defeated an escape room, but what about Old Sarum (25 minutes)? The ruins are where Salisbury’s first settlers lived and nowadays, visitors can climb up the ramparts, see where the original cathedral once stood and admire the Iron Age hillfort too. Wilton (10 minutes) was the ancient capital of Wessex and well worth a stop for walks along the Wylye river, the markets and Wilton House (15 minutes). Historical sites don’t end just there, though, as further out, there are the 14th-century ruins of Old Wardour Castle (20 minutes) and grand Kingston Lacy (40 minutes), where there are Japanese gardens, play areas, art and antiquities and garden tours. If it’s a safari day you’re after, that’s not as unthinkable as you’d expect in the Wiltshire countryside, because Longleat (half an hour) has a self-driving safari park with a lion and monkey enclosure. You’re more likely to see New Forest ponies roaming around New Forest National Park (40 minutes). Canoeing, cycling, hiking, hiking – all sorts, really – can be tracked down here, but if it’s the coast you’re really after, Bournemouth (55 minutes), Poole (55 minutes) and Lymington (an hour and 10 minutes) are further on.
