  • Well-kept level 20-acre site 10 minutes' walk from Fleet Hargate
  • A 20-minute drive to Spalding; bus stops in the village
  • Café on site with homemade cakes and summer weekend events
Whether you want to sun yourself on the grass or angle at the water, Lawns and Lakes Camping and Caravanning is a peaceful and well-maintained 20-acre site from which to do both (or nothing at all) among the lovely Lincolnshire countryside... If you’d rather just use the place as a base, that’s no problem either: access to the site – a 10-minute walk from the village of Fleet Hargate and 20 minutes’ drive from Spalding – is straightforward as it’s a short detour from the A17. Roaming on foot is a cinch too – just unhook the gate and wander out onto surrounding paths for a stroll. Any four-legged travellers that have come along for a break can stretch their paws at the site’s dog walking area, half a mile of dog-oriented space with bins for the inevitable mess. Park owners Nigel and Tracy have set their place up to make sure the local wildlife’s just as happy as the guests: there are trees and shrubs all around, along with wildflower meadows that are popular with woodpeckers, kingfishers and other birds. The park’s two fishing lakes are stocked with carp, bream, tench, roach and rudd, and ducks often stop by too. You’re also likely to meet the family’s flock of hens, whose goings-on are most amusing at feeding time. For eats, you may like to set up a barbecue or wander to the village pub or farm shop; treats are to be had closer to home at the site’s Sweet Delights Café, which serves up hot drinks, homemade cakes and ice cream sundaes with a side order of entertainment on selected weekends. A bus stop service is available on site through a call connect service or via a short stroll to the village.

Electric hardstanding and grass touring pitch

Liked: The campsite itself was very clean and tidy and where we pitched up was a lovely location. They had a bar and cafe/restaurant which was a nice quirky touch. Couldn't fault the staff who were very friendly and welcoming. Definitely would use again.

Liked: The area we where put in was not to bad on the hard standing the lake side of the camp site was lovely

Disliked: Hard standing pitches where very cobbly and unkempt weeds growing out of the stones which made the area look a mess had issues pitching the awning due to the cobbled hard standing we parked the van as told but still needed to put pegs under the van to creat a tight seal on the awning but couldn’t the toilet and shower facilities where shocking and dirty no lights around the area at night so if you needed the toilet in the night you needed a torch to take with you, the faculties where to far away from piches that were right up the other end of the site poor water pressure meant using the facilities was a joke if more than one person was showering at the same time found the owner quite rude when I spoke to her will not be returning to this site again was not worth the money couldn’t get WiFi or tv signal will be sticking to CMCS In future nothing for the children to do over priced entertainment sat in a cold barn absolutely joke

From the manager: The penny has dropped - we have never received such low scores and comments as received in your review and the one underneath (6/10). Having received a late booking from yourselves and the booking below nothing on either booking was mentioned that you needed siting together, only the day before arrival phone calls were made to me on Friday 23/8/24 when almost all pitches had been accommodated I therefore had no way I could put you together but having said that you were only 6 pitches away. I presume that this is the true nature of the grievance. Nobody previous to yourselves has ever had trouble in pitching their awning to their caravan, nor had problems in locating 1 of the 2 TV signals we receive on site I wish you had asked and then would could have helped, we do not advertise wifi on site it is just what you are able to get on your own devices, we are waiting for Open Reach to up grade our area and we will be straight away bringing the facility on site. In the arrival information it is clearly stated that lighting is only around the facilities and main area and that guests are advised to bring a torch due to the nature we encourage on site, to be fair most caravanners tend to use their own facilities at night. We do not advertise a childrens club or playground, there is one located just a 5 minute walk away, however there are areas on site that are saved for childrens activities such as kite flying etc. Our Saturday Gala Night was one of Britains top Take That tribute acts along with a 2 Course Meal (Main and Desserts)all freshly prepared on site from locally sourced ingredients including homemade desserts -which guests were encourage to come back for seconds priced at £25 per adult with children 0-5years FOC and 5-12 years £7 - we received many congratulations for the event with many guests booking in for the next one. I would further add that I have never been rude to any of my guests, please read all of our many reviews regarding how friendly and polite we all are here at The Lawns and Lakes.

Liked: The site is nicely laid out but not for disable access for people. Toilets were to far for to use. When you go and paid for site fees and then asked to us your own facility. I found this terrible. They need more Toilets further up site. Will not be going there again

From the manager: Thank you for your review, unfortunately you hadnt notified us that you had mobility issues, we are very accommodating and I could have sited you closed and would have taken on board your request if we had received prior notice, we have a dedicated facility for disabled and I could have shown them to you if I had know. The ground and roadways are lovely and flat and we have many disabled guests visit us time and time again. Hope you enjoyed the fishing

Electric grass touring pitch (XL)

Liked: Lovely site, well maintained, large pitches, modern facilities.

Disliked: Stayed for three nights and we were expecting two guests for two of the nights so we pre-paid the extra £30 for our guests for their stay. Owing to illness our guests had to cancel and despite notifying the campsite owner the day before they were due to arrive we are being refused a refund for the extra charge. This is very unfair. No-where near enough shower facilities, we had to queue for 30 minutes. Also, the victoria sponge cake was very expensive at nearly a fiver a slice and it had been kept unsealed for one or two days so it was as dry as a bone. The birds enjoyed it.

From the manager: I am very saddened by your review, having received an email from you regarding your friends after you left site, I emailed you at £25 good will gesture voucher - trying to meet your aspirations - unfortunately when a card payment is taken I do not receive all of the funds the banks take a cut, I thought I was being more than generous as our T&C's do state that once a booking is made it cannot be amended within 21 days of arrival prior to that period of time there is a £15 fee. I wasnt aware that your guests were not arriving until you had arrived which is well outside of the 21 day period as you have already stated above. All our products are freshly made from locally sourced ingredients, so these could not possibly have been dried nor did you complain at the time of purchase. I pressume that you did not find the other showers and toilets at the barn area where there were no queues.

Electric hardstanding and grass touring pitch

Liked: Lovely peaceful weekend, very spacious pitch, we had a lovely long weekend. Owners were very welcoming and friendly, we used the barn for drinks, great area with pool table and dart board. On site facilities were very good and clean, having a caravan though we tried to use our own.

Disliked: Could do with extra facilities but looking at other comments this is in the pipeline, in line with the rules we paid for a bbq which wasn't an issue, however did notice people having fires and burning wood in the camping field.

From the manager: Thank you for your review and lovely kind comments, I wish you had made us aware of the fires and we would have asked for them to be put out immediately, this is totally against our site rules, we very much look forward to welcoming you again

Non-electric grass tent, touring caravan or trailer tent pitch

Liked: A very nice site, friendly staff, clean and good quality facilities. We were in the far end of the site in a pitch without electricity and it did not feel too busy despite it being the Bank Holiday weekend. Busier elsewhere in the site. Some space for children to ride bikes and fly kites etc.

Disliked: The site was nice and peaceful but unfortunately there is a background noise from nearby A-road traffic, which detracted from the peace and quiet and continued overnight.

Electric grass pitch

Liked: Everything. From being greeted by Tracey and family, the food, drinks, facilities, the lakes. Just how friendly everyone was, it was clear they have returning customers which tells me they look after their visitors.

Disliked: Not really relevant as Tracey said they were looking at expanding, but the amount of toilet blocks. Although the ones that are there are cleaned twice a day and we're very well kept. I was very impressed

Local attractions

Not had enough bird-based entertainment on site? Head over to Baytree Owl and Wildlife Centre 15 minutes’ drive to catch a falconry display or flutter 25 minutes away to the RSPB Frampton Marsh Nature Reserve for a touch of twitching in the wild. If the kids are in tow, take them to Jurassic Golf for the crazy golf course then follow up with the Fun Farm indoor play centre (both 15 minutes). Adults meanwhile might appreciate Ayscoughfee Hall Museum and Gardens for the regular concerts, theatrical performances and craft sessions; Peckover House and Gardens is also for them if they’re into aping the aristocracy on tours of posh country homes…
