The folk at Don Antonio Camping Village reckon there's something here for everyone. Family hols, active hols, idle hols and Italian seaside breaks to sort all ages including teens are no probs at this big and swish Abruzzo resort, where everything has been carefully laid out to suit seaside breaks for all. Kids, for example, are sorted here on safety as well as entertainment grounds: there are three different (non-slip) levels in the lifeguarded pool, the adjoining beach can be reached without crossing a road, and the seabed is gently sloping for gentle immersions (and made up entirely of sand, so no jagged rocks to step on). For even smaller sorts, everywhere in the resort is suitable for strollers, and baby changing facilities are both on site and at the beach. All ages have stacks of leisurely options to pick from here (seriously, you might want to book for a few weeks), from the beach volleyball and beach bowls to the pool with waterjets and the professional entertainment on offer including ballroom dancing and baby discos. Cycling and running paths run alongside the resort. Don Antonio is in Abruzzo's Teramo province, three kilometres from the coastal town of Giulianova and 20 minutes' walk from the Blue Wave waterpark. Like its leisure options, its food picks are extensive too, with street food options including pizza, sandwiches, fried fish and Abruzzo recipe pasta, all alongside a self-service restaurant for indoor eats, with – but of course – a good kids' menu available too.

Local attractions

You won't have to go far to get to loads more active options fab and family days out, such as tennis a kilometre and a half away, and fishing, go-karting track, golf and horse riding all close by. A serviced beach is 300 metres away if you'd like a change of sandy scene. Bag a discount voucher from the Don Antonio team for the Onda Blu or Blue Waves waterpark, just under two kilometres from the resort, for family foam and water days from June to September. Or take the kids to Giocolandia, the indoor playground in town at Giulianova, with toddlers' area, slides, bouncy castles and trampolines. If you're here in summer, pootle into town for music concerts at the Kursal palace on the seafront, or at the bandstand of Giulianova's public park.
