  • Adults-only glamping site in Somerset
  • On the edge of the Blackdown Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty
  • Hot tub and firepit for each unit; a pair of bicycles available
Fancy stargazing in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, cycling in the Blackdown Hills and spending evenings in a private hot tub? If your answer is a big ‘yes’, you’re in the right place with Tone Valley View Glamping. This adults-only glamping site is well-suited for a romantic getaway with plenty of creature comforts. There are views over the Tone Valley, so there’s a scenic backdrop at all times, and your tent has a partly clear roof for some splendid stargazing. Each tent has access to its own personal stable, a short walk down a stone path (the site has provided a lantern for trips at night-time). The horses have been moved out and replaced with a bathroom (including a shower, toilet, sink and towel rack) and kitchenette (including a fridge with an ice box, a sink, twin hot plate, toaster and kettle) – no sharing involved. The site has two push bikes available for a small price per day for the pair – and there are lots of walks and bike rides nearby. After your day out in the Blackdown Hills, take a soak in the private hot tub or roast something tasty over the firepit (you'll be provided with wood, fire starters and matches at the start of your stay, and there are more bundles of wood and firestarters available for a small cost in the stable). At the end of the year, for every five bundles brought, the site funds the planting of one tree through the National Trust. There are also lots of wildlife-friendly hedges around the place. The site also uses solar power and a power station (like a big power bank) runs the lights and charging points (limited to 350W at any time, so just enough for phones or tablets, but not kettles).

Please note
  • Guests under the age of 18 are not allowed on site.
  • Bookings must not be for more than 28 consecutive nights.
  • No cars/motorbikes by the pitch/unit. All cars must be parked in the designated area.
  • If making a fire, the fuel, logs and coal have to be purchased on site.
  • Fires, barbecues and/or firepits will not be permitted in dry, windy and/or hot weather conditions.
  • The hot tub will need to be lit and heated by you during your stay. This will take between three and four hours when it is cold. The site can pre-light the hot tub and bring it up to temperature before your arrival on day one; an additional cost applies for this service.

Bell tent (hot tub)

Liked: Everything! The host was very welcoming and explained everything to us and showed us around. The hot tub was warm and ready to go (it was an additional charge but so worth it). We had our own kitchenette, toilet and shower. Everything you can think of needing was there. Even an air fryer ! The tent was so cute with personality from lamps, fans and even a hot water bottle! Have already booked for my brothers and his wife for a gift and recommended to several people. We will deffo be returning

Bell tent (hot tub)

Liked: Clean and well designed Helpful and friendly owners Reasonably priced (even with additional fee, which is well worth paying for). Can book one night Hot tub (well worth the fee to have it prepped on arrival). Comfortable bed. Eco-friendly. Warm and cosy inside

Disliked: Previous review! THIS IS NOT A SCAM. (FYI spiders are part of nature and it’s their environment -expect them and respect them!)

Bell tent (hot tub)

Liked: Hot tub, view

Disliked: Me and my fiancé have just spent 2 nights at tone valley view, after travelling well over 200 miles we were overall disappointed, firstly it is marketed with free WiFi, we were not informed of any and when we looked for it we could not find it, the stables were overall unclean, had a small spider infestation beneath the table and the shower spilled everywhere, understandably it is the countryside, there will be insects but the amount of Web under the table does not occur over a small amount of time, this is also marketed to have central heating, the "central heating" is a plug in radiator underneath the counter. Following on with the stable issues the barbecues are both next to eachother outside of them meaning that if both tents are occupied you would essentially be dining as a foursome, when this is marketed as a romantic night away this feels very much not the case. Onto the tents themselves, they are marketed to have mains electricity however you are provided a small solar battery instead which if you forgot to charge you would have no lighting or power at night, it does appear clean but seems the furniture is very cheap, uncomfortable, and loud enough that you could hear somebody moving on the bed from near the other tent. You are promised stargazing in the tents however we were positioned in a way that a large tree covered half of our view. We paid the £30 hot tub heating fee for us to arrive and it be so hot that it felt like it was burning us and was completely unusable until cold water had been added by myself, alongside this we paid this fee due to being told it would take 3 hours for the hot tub to get warm however the following day when we heated it ourselves it took maximum an hour, so I would advise not to bother with this and it has left us upset that we had paid this fee due to false advertising. The steps of the hot tub are extremely unstable which lead to my partner falling onto the ground when leaving the hot tub which could have lead to further injury. Also when leaving the hot tub to sit in your alloted garden area you are 4 feet away from an electric fence which you can barely see, when we arrived we were made aware of this fence however it is not signposted as it should be in accordance with UK law. The hot tub, when the temperature is right is very nice and the views are stunning however at £125 per night this is an absolute scam and me and my partner are very upset with this as we were hoping that this would be a break from our high stress jobs but we have left more tired than we arrived. Before arrival we were hopeful to extend our stay for a third night, instead we have packed up and got a room at a premier inn, I would advise to do the same. Since we left this morning we have had no contact from the owners regarding our stay and have not seen them since the first day upon our arrival when we were given a quick tour and the owner then pulled out his Strimmer and quickly cut some of the overgrown grass, regardless of the whole area needing doing. We will never return to this location and would advise against it if anybody was to ask.

From the manager: I'm sorry you didn't have a nice stay. Had you mentioned any of the issue durring your stay we could have tried to resolve them for you. I would say I don't think your review is a fair reflective of the service we offer. I would advise anyone reading this to look at our many positive reviews from customers who loved their stay.

Loved our stay here, will definitely stay again.

Local attractions

Shake things up – an alternative to hiking or biking is visiting the local horse-riding centre (half an hour’s walk). If you prefer two feet to hooves, there are plenty of new terrains to tackle. The Quantock Hills (35 minutes’ drive) has trails taking in coast, wild heathland, oak woods and ancient parklands. An Elizabethan beacon is the prize view after an uphill climb to Culmstock Beacon (20 minutes). Tick off another monument at the Wellington Monument (45 minutes) too. Got a taste for upbeat activities? Practise your watersports at Wimbleball Lake (45 minutes) or sharpen up your trampolining skills on the wall-to-wall trampolines at Flip Out Somerset (five minutes). Axe Valley Wildlife Park (half an hour) is on hand for animal fans, with chipmunks, flamingos and zebras among the residents.
