  • Fully equipped kitchen and bathroom; shops and pubs 10 minutes’ drive
Any place that puts you in position for exploring Cornwall, Dartmoor National Park and both north and south Devon has a lot going for it already. A stay at Malory, near the Cornish town of Launceston, gives you all this and a lot more too. Situated on private land, conveniently just off the A388 for jaunts round and about the area, the single static caravan sleeps up to four guests in two bedrooms (one of which has an ensuite bathroom), and is luxuriously kitted out with a dining area and lounge with plush sofas and a gas fire for that extra cosiness factor. A fully equipped kitchen and shower room complete the roster of rooms. Outside there’s an extensive wooden balcony with alfresco dining table, chairs and barbecue, as well as peaceful views over Devon and Cornwall countryside. Launceston (10 minutes’ drive) is your best bet for major shopping stock-ups, and if you’re not feeling the cooking vibe, the town has takeaways and pubs to keep you going too.

2 bedroom static caravan

Liked: Location was great as we had planned to travel around Cornwall & Devon. It's close enough to the town to grab a few bits. Lovely view across the fields sitting out on the decking on a warm evening. It's not a typical campsite, far from it. The caravan is based on private property, our host Jules was fantastic, very attentive and showed us around. All bedding, sheets and towels provided, sponge, washing up liquid, cutlery, plates, BBQ etc all included, even tea, coffee & sugar was there on arrival. The simple things that made a big difference for us with 2 young kids to worry about.

Disliked: The caravan is situated just off a busy road, not really a problem for us as we were out all day anyway and only relaxing for a few hours in the evening, but could be more of an issue if you had younger kids looking to run around and play ball games etc.

Local attractions

Keen to get out into bracing fresh air? Have a stroll up to dramatic Golitha Falls (35 minutes) on Bodmin Moor, or stroll through leafy, mossy Lydford Gorge (25 minutes) to the cliffside cascade. Head to Dartmoor National Park (20 minutes’ drive) for some outdoor action on hiking and cycling trails for all abilities. Those with an interest in prehistory can walk up to mysterious stone circles like Sittaford (50 minutes) and Scorhill, while fans of art deco architecture tour the apartments at Castle Drogo (both 40 minutes) and amble around its extensive parkland. More history is over at hilltop Launceston Castle (10 minutes), complete with tower remains and a small museum, or the working water wheel and former flour mill at National Trust-owned Cotehele (40 minutes, have a look round the medieval/Tudor mansion too). If kids are accompanying you on your Cornwall getaway, chances are they’ll love the soft-play centre, farmyard animals and pony rides at Trethorne Leisure Park. If that doesn’t cut the mustard, head for Dingles Fairground Museum (both 15 minutes), a fascinating collection of vintage bumper cars, carousels and hurdy gurdies.
