  • Traditional family site near Dereham, in meadows around a working farm
  • Wildlife haven with woodland and plenty of space, away from main roads
  • Shop on site; heated shower and toilet block
Your fledglings should love this farm site – and those in charge of the flock are very likely to agree. Park Farm Camping near Dereham in Norfolk is simple, affordable and no-frills… but doesn’t skimp on the amenities either: the heated shower and toilet block. The site is managed by Julie and Derek, who run the place as a traditional and safe site for small fry and their tribes: it’s in meadows around a working farm, with wildlife all around and farm animals to see in the next field. There’s heaps of space even in the height of summer for all the herd (including the dog) to run around, as well as a wood to explore and a small play area to swing around – with everything secluded away from main roads for chicks to be safely free range. All this, and campfires are allowed too. Other creature comforts at Park Farm include wifi (sometimes an unstable connection) and a shop to pick up essentials. Off site, a pub, deli, village shop, bakery, post office, grocer and butcher are all in Swanton Morley a couple of minutes’ drive away.

Liked: It was my second time visiting this campsite and my experience was second time very good. Lots of space, peace, clean showers. Owner is very welcoming. Area is very calm and peaceful. People on the campsite also nice and respectful. We had a beautiful clear Sky allowed to star gazing. Campfire for £5. Amazing place with high recommendation from my side. One our drive to beautiful beach in Great Yarmouth.

Liked: We had a really friendly welcome. Hannah and Ryan were so helpful with any questions we had. The pitches were really big and flat. Very peaceful site. Toilets and showers were clean and the hot water was nice and consistent. Nice cold drinks, ice creams and some snacks in the shop. Great WiFi in the area we were in. Could do with extending the supplies in the shop for some food items you could have for dinner but Hannah and Ryan have only recently taken over the site and I'm sure they will be building things like this up. Nice walk into the little village and down to the river.

Liked: Location and size of pitch. Hannah and Ryan were lovely and admitted to some teething problems they are trying to sort out since taking over the campsite eg some problems with electrics and booking system. Hannah offered us free cake and gave us some teabags since we’d forgotten ours.

Disliked: Only having two women’s showers on a Bank Holiday weekend meant there was a bit of a queue. Unfortunately, due to some of the above-mentioned problems, the showers were cold.

Liked: Had a lovely stay at Park Farm. We stayed in the non-electric grass pitches. Was not an issue. We did have a solar charger. Facilities were clean and more than adequate. The homemade cakes 🎂 were devine. Loved the fire pits. Pizza night on Saturday was a real treat. Was a good base for us to go exploring around north Norfolk. We visited Cromer, wells by the sea, Blickling estate, Redwings horse sanctuary. All about 40 mins drive away.

Disliked: Nothing really. We just happened to stay during an amber weather warning for wind. So that was a bit hairy

Liked: Large Open site, Plenty of space on well spaced pitch, easy access to Electric hook-up and drinking water source, friendly and helpful welcome on arrival. Clean and tidy regularly maintained facilities. lots of reasonable close attractions (within 30 to forty minute drive, only that long due to rural roads, so obviously driven with extra care). We enjoyed our stay and exploring the surrounding area, including a trip to Cromer and along the coast to Wells next the sea. Grimes Graves, and Felbrigg which we found enchanting, Gressenhall work house was also a highlight and relatively close. We would recommend Park farm Camping as a good site to explore the area around Dereham to the coast including the North Norfolk Railway which runs from Holt to Sheringham, which a leading reason for our visit. er

Disliked: The poor coverage of internet, even when using the site unsecureds wifi, which meant planning visits and using sat nav to locate said sites a little bit entertaining, but thats the joys of rural life I suppose ;-).

Local attractions

Use Park Farm Camping as a base to explore north Norfolk and Norwich, or stay close to home and explore the paths and lanes for walking and pedalling around the Wensum Valley: leaflets and brochures on acres’ worth of visitor attractions are at the Park Farm reception. The River Wensum is on the edge of the farm estate with free fishing for Park Farm Camping guests on the two miles where the river flows through nearby Castle Farm (not available during season from 16 March-16 June), or cast off at the Norfolk coast about half an hour away to try your luck at landing mackerel, bass and cod. You could pick a beach or seaside town to drive to every day of your holiday at Park Farm: seal-spotting boat trips from Morston and Blakeney as well as swishing around somewhat swanky Wells-next-the-Sea and Burnham Market (aka Chelsea-on-Sea) are all within 40 minutes' drive. Within 50, make for the Pleasure Beach (and racecourse) at Great Yarmouth or the crabbing, funfair and zoo at Cromer, both top picks to seaside antics. Other eclectic options within accessible reach of Park Farm Camping include padding around Liz II’s pad at royal Sandringham and other old houses like Holkham Hall: both are around 45 minutes away. Norwich is 25 minutes from the site.
