  • Well-maintained, peaceful campsite in the Peak District National Park
  • Walking distance to the Tissington Trail, Dovedale and Thorpe Cloud
  • Dog-friendly grass pitches; 20 minutes’ walk to the local pub
Hollington End Farm is a peaceful back-to-basics site with grass pitches on a small working Derbyshire farm. It’s five minutes’ drive from the village of Thorpe, sitting on the Staffordshire border and occupying an enviably lovely location due to its proximity to some of the most dramatic scenery in the Peak District National Park. The campsite itself is a part-sloping field with hard standings, electric hook-ups and plenty of space for awnings. Dogs are welcome. A public footpath crosses the site which takes you onto endless miles of walks through the stunning scenery of peaks and dales, including Manifold Valley. You can stroll across the farm’s fields to the local village pub serving meals and guest ales, or take a short walk to the timeless village of Tissington (both 20 minutes’ stroll), where you can enjoy refreshments overlooking the duck pond.

This was a fantastic location to enjoy walks in the local area, many footpaths leading directly from the camp site and very close proximity to Tissington trail of you wanted to go for a bike ride. Liked: The owner, Steph, has been an absolute godsend. I’d booked a touring pitch to bring my 10 year old and 15 year old in my camper. Unfortunately my camper had an issue that made it temporarily unusable. Not wanting to let the boys down I contacted Steph to see if it would be possible to camp in a tent for one night given the circumstance and that nowhere else would have availability so late given the bank holiday weekend. Steph was really kind in allowing this. This turned our camper trip into a Duke of Edinburgh type adventure where we got dropped off near Calton, hiked trough ilam, up Thorpe Cloud and settling down at Hollington Farm. Steph even offered us extra help given the high winds, I got the impression that if we needed anything at all, she would help. Our hike now takes us to Carsington Waters where we finish and get picked up. On reflection and in adversity I’d like to think I’ve given the boys an adventure to look back on for years to come, I’m thankful to Steph for allowing us to stay and for looking out for us.
