Set amid the gorgeous green landscapes of the Tiétar Valley on a 70-hectare estate with history stretching back more than 200 years, El Toril Glamping Experience makes an excellent location for peaceful rural breaks. On the edge of the wild Sierra de Gredos in a hilly area on the northern edge of La Mancha, the farm has ensuite accommodation for groups of different sizes that will suit an array of tastes and travellers, from couples looking for a romantic hideaway to families on the hunt for somewhere to arrange a big get-together. While the accommodation is fully self-contained, with everything you need for a comfy stay, it's handy to know that several amenities are available close by in the local area. Parrillas (10 minutes' drive), for example, has a couple of bars, while the larger town of Velada (20 minutes) has more places to eat and a well-stocked supermarket. There are plenty of cultural offerings within driving distance too, especially in Talavera de la Reina (30 minutes), a classic Castilian city famed for its longstanding mastery of ornate ceramics and its several historic churches.

Local attractions

Staying locally, you could head to the lake just outside Navalcán (20 minutes) for fishing, hiking or to see a well-preserved Roman bridge. Head a little further up the road to the Pantano del Rincón wetlands (30 minutes) with your binoculars and there's a nature watching area where you can sit for hours watching wading birds against a backdrop of snow capped mountains… Other top attractions not to be missed include the Cuevas del Cerro del Águila (20 minutes), a network of spectacular limestone caves with a restaurant attached. For adventures in the hills, meanwhile, pack some sturdy footwear and steer yourself in the direction of the Sierra de Gredos regional park and spots like Guisando (30 minutes), where there's a natural pool for wild swimming and lots of hiking trails. Day trippers will find plenty to do further afield as well, including the medieval city of Ávila (an hour and 20 minutes) with its 12th-century walls and several monasteries. Toledo (also an hour and 20 minutes) is also well worth travelling to see – the old Jewish quarter, cathedral and the Santa Cruz gallery with its El Greco paintings are just a few of the many highlights.

Admission is only permitted after registering at reception.
All guests spending the night at the park must present their ID at the reception desk and sign registration forms.
