From the manager: Sorry disagree with you Other shower ?? We only have one And Why you never raised issues while you stayed ?? £1 for shower is this your real issue ? Our campsite is clean and tidy

Nice location but could be so much better.

Electric optional grass touring caravan pitch

Liked: The location was good. Great for walking. Near good pubs for food and drink.

Disliked: Showers and toilets are dirty. Not enough for the site capacity. Showers aren't very good. Poor value for money. Cost is high for facilities offered. Near a main road but not too noisy.

From the manager: Sorry We clean our shower toilets twice a day you are the only person who is complaining other 9 pitches were there same time as you Never complained

Non-electric grass motorhome pitch

Liked: Spacious, quiet, good view, flat pitches, easy to find, and loved that there wasn’t a deadline on checkin. The showers also very hot

Disliked: The showers were £1 for 5 minutes which would be fine, but not the cleanest of showers, flip flops stayed on. However countered by being a cheap stay

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked: We had a fabulous time at this site. The site was quiet and the owner very helpful. We liked that he drove round and checked on everyone in the afternoon, and the site felt secure. The pub next door is a great amenity and the toilet and shower block fine. Nothing fancy but exactly what it said on the tin. Our toddler LOVED having the donkey sanctuary next door and watching them over the fence. Room to run around and overall very pleasant night!

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked: Second time here 2 years later and still a lovely, simple site. Stay here for a simple, inexpensive holiday and does not disappoint. Fairly quiet (outside of holidays at least) and facilities basic but kept relatively clean. Little interaction with the owner but very friendly when called on arrival. The pub next door and ice cream from the dairy down the road just make it ideal! Can sometimes hear the donkeys but love camping next to them and seeing them each day, will definitely be back!

Electric optional grass touring caravan pitch

Liked: Price and view.

Disliked: Remote management (never saw anyone), also pitch numbers for tents and caravans duplicated which caused some confusion.

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked: Friendly hosts who were always on hand if you needed anything. Could see the hosts working hard to keep the site tidy. Small quiet site. Good shower and toilet facilities. Have to pay £1 for showers so make sure you get change before you go. Location is perfect for exploring the Peak District. Close to Buxton. Plants of pubs within driving distance, 1 at the top of the site in walking distance (however we did not use this so cannot comment on the food)

Disliked: NA, we will definitely be back if we visit the area again

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked: A lovely quiet site with recently refurbished toilet and shower block that is simple but clean and has everything you need. 2 minute walk to the Bull pub which serves great pizza or a 5 minute walk on the footpath across the fields to Royal Oak if you want something a bit more sophisticated. Great location near Buxton so perfect for Bakewell, Chatsworth House etc.

Local attractions

Buxton (10 to 15 minutes' drive away) has plenty to do for all ages, including tours around its Georgian architecture and ambles around the award-winning Pavilion gardens. Shopping and nightlife are most plentiful around George Street, the Quadrant and Cavendish Arcade; for kids of a small size, a soft play centre is in town. Kids of all sizes should like going underground at Buxton's Poole's Cavern, a limestone cave surrounded by Buxton Country Park. Take a guided tour among the huge chambers of the caves to hear tales of the Stone Age people, Roman soldiers and medieval outlaws who used them; after that and above ground, there are woodland trails to wander, rabbits and woodpeckers to spot and – possibly of more interest to fatigued grownups – a café serving drinks and hot snacks. Another spa town – again possibly of more interest to fatigued grownups – is at Matlock Bath, 20 minutes' drive away.
