  • Bike trails, châteaux and opportunities for fishing in the local area
  • Pool complex, tennis, playground, pétanque and bar
Resort & Camping - Val de Braye is a quiet and green place to stay in a riverside location just a few minutes' walk from the centre of Bessé-sur-Braye and an hour's drive from Tours. With a pool complex that's made up of a heated outdoor pool, an indoor pool, a waterslide, a jacuzzi and a paddling pool, there's plenty of entertainment for the aquatically inclined. On top of that, away from the water, pétanque and tennis courts and a playground are available. Wander down to the banks of the river Braye that hug the edge of the campsite – it's a great spot for fishing (talk to reception to get hold of the relevant permit) or for simply taking advantage of the peace and quiet to relax, read a book or tuck into a picnic. The bar has snacks and meals during the day, while those who prefer to cook have the on-site food shop. You can also walk the short distance into the centre of Bessé-sur-Braye, where the Saturday market is not to be missed. In terms of functional facilities, the site has two shower blocks, toilets (including some which are accessible) and family bathrooms. Bathing facilities for babies are also available.

Liked: We would highly recommend Val da Braye. We stopped for a 4 night stop travelling through France mid January even in winter the site is pretty. The pitches are very good size, although due to the rain we pitched off ours on hard standing. Brilliant. We had sun and sat outside eating lunch on thec 20/01/24 wow. The Guys on Park are so friendly, very accommodating, regularly checked to see if we were OK and nothing too much trouble. The Facilities were Amazing and spotless. They were beautiful and so clean, a tribute to the park. There is so much to see and do in the area, but also a beautiful spot just to relax and chill both in and out of season. We sat watching a family of otters along side us on the river bank....amazing site. We will definitely return later this year on our way to Spain. 10 out of 10 for Val da Braye and its team of Staff

Disliked: Nothing

Liked: Lovely setting. Location is great. Municipal pool and tennis courts on site although closed as we were there between Christmas and New Year. The owner is super friendly and helpful. The whole site (including the toilet/shower block) is immaculately clean. Would definitely return and would recommend to friends.

Liked: Immaculate shower block Public swimming pool on site Friendly welcome. Went in November 2023 so very quiet but will be lovely in the summer.

Disliked: No dislikes, but would have preferred a hard standing pitch in winter (only grass) and no water on the pitches in winter (although filled up from shower block with help from the assistant) but just glad it was open.

From the manager: Bonjour, Good to know that you enjoyed your stay with us. As part of winter precaution we have closed all external taps and hence there is no water available in outdoors. Sorry but this a standard procedure during winter. But as mentioned you can get the same from our sanitary blocks which are equipped for this purpose. Hoping to see you soon.

From the manager: Bonjour, Greetings from Resort & Camping - Val de Braye. Thank you for taking your time to review us. There was an issue with the power due to the disrupted whether and we couldn't keep it constant as it affected some of our equipment's and being the weekend the replacement was not available on time, but we rectified the same at the earliest. Deepest apology for your inconvenience.

Liked: The grounds.

Disliked: Everything. Having to call a number rather than having staff there and the number isn’t accessible on-site. The caravan was appalling. Tiny for a family of 5 and in a real bad state. Not cleaned and if so they did a really really bad job. Spoke to the one staff there and I mentioned about the state of where we had to settle before heading home all I got was a shrug of the shoulders and a smile, called him back as a phone call was the only method of communication and I said this isn’t fair he said we will discuss at checkout, checked out and I got nothing which I was expecting. Facilities were shut during the day. I understand why we were they only was staying there at the point. Have to either bring bedding or hire it which adds to the cost which is ridiculous for a family travelling through France for 2 weeks. Over priced by atleast £80-£100 for a night. We paid £161 for 5 for one night. No compassion from the only staff member there. Will advise people not to visit.

Liked: Free use of laundry facilities and site is very quiet.

Disliked: Had to leave early due to daughter being ill, needed to return to UK urgently and site owner did not offer any option for a refund or voucher etc. Site is tired and could do with updating, swimming pool is a municipal pool and not owned by the campsite, the bar/cafe/restaurant is a marquee and wasn't open when we attended.

Local attractions

This is château country. The nearest is Château de Courtanvaux, a few minutes’ drive away (or half an hour's walk), where kids' activities are organised during summer. You could also check out the Château de Montmirail (35 minutes' drive), a medieval castle dating from the 15th century overlooking an attractive village below. Next, take the time to visit the village of Trôo, home to cave-dwellers during the medieval period who carved their homes out of the local limestone hills (10 minutes). If you're travelling as a family, head next to the Saint Calais leisure centre (under 15 minutes), where pedalos, pétanque, miniature golf and playgrounds are all on the cards. Trips a little further afield could take you to the 24 Hours of Le Mans museum, home to 140 high-speed vehicles as well as the famed Le Mans racetrack itself (50 minutes). Alternatively, the city of Tours with its historic districts and timber-fronted houses is an hour away, while the popular Zoo de La Flèche (also an hour away) is home to more than 1,500 animals in an attractive 18-hectare park.
