The Mount lodge (no pets)
Liked: Pizza night
Disliked: Limited toilet & shower facility for the amount of accommodation. Drinking water was just a tap - nowhere for washing up bowl or to keep things off the ground when filling. Having to pay extra for linen for sofa bed usage

From the manager: Sorry that Brookhouse wasn’t for you. It does clearly state on pitch up that bedding is only provided for the double bed, this is also in your booking confirmation. There are several water points through out the site, not sure what you mean by this was just a tap as that is how we all get water.. from a tap. We do have a washing up area it is where the toilets & shower are. On a plus note glad you enjoyed pizza night 🍕

Liked: Lovely campsite! Very well looked after grounds. Great staff and very nice food. Homemade pizzas 10 out of 10. Definitely recommend. We stayed in a lodge which was lovely had everything we needed for a short weekend away. There was a tea room and little shop walking distance away and a few pubs around the area along with a fishing lake and river onsite. Would definitely come back again.
Disliked: Nothing everything was great

Liked: The Campsite is in a perfect position for relaxing and unwinding. Beautiful Views and walks all around. The "Potting Shed" cafe/bar is a brilliant social hub that is well stocked with alcohol and cakes. The onsite shop is full of quirky things too. Pizzas made on site to order are fantastic and you can also have afternoon tea, which we haven't tried yet but it looked yummy. They cater for events too and we love this site so much that we are re-doing our wedding vows with 40 lucky friends and family, staying for the whole weekend.

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite (adults only)
Liked: Myself and my partner stayed on the adults only grass pitch, which was located right by the river. The whole site was amazing, very quiet and friendly. We were very shocked when we found out that this camping site has got a pub on the site, the pub was very modern and have a lovely beer garden with lots of garden furniture. The owners were always very lovely and would always check on us to make sure everything was okay and that we were happy with our stay. The bathrooms and showers were always very clean with plenty of hot water. The owners have a few rules which they ask their guests to follow as it’s understandable as every place have their own rules, they only ask for all dogs to be on leads and to buy fire wood from them and not go to the woods and collect it yourself, unfortunately some people are very disrespectful and don’t know how to follow two simple rules. And when they were asked to stop they fretted the owners of putting a bad review, don’t listen to the bad reviews and visit Brook house farm campsite as it’s honestly lovely and probably one of the best ones we have ever been to. We will definitely be back soon 😀

From the manager: Thank for your lovely review, so glad you enjoyed your stay and we look forward to welcoming you back :-) Like you said we only have a few rules but unfortunately some people are very rude and disrespectful and think they don't apply to them.

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite (adults only)
Liked: Nothing
Disliked: Absolutely horrendous experience! The worst trip any of us have had. I wish I'd of read the reviews before booking. We were verbally abused, with threatening and intimidating behaviour. We booked a lodge, a pod and 3 tent pitches. On arrival I was told the kitchen could not be used as a hub. In other words only 2 people can use the oven and only 2 people can eat the food cooked on it. Because this was not specified on the website we had not brought additional cooking equipment. The owner approached us as we were all sitting outside on the table and chairs and started shouting at us for using it as a hub. Considering they had over £600 off us for a 2 night stay you think they would of let it go but they didnt. I reassured her several times that I had brought my own cleaning products and would leave the kitchen spotless. She was impossible to reason with. So the first evening was ruined and we all were left shocked and uncomfortable. In addition the toilet did not flush the waste away properly and made a constant gurgling sound. The shower was blocked and flooded the floor with brown stuff. And we couldnt turn the oven off because the buttons didnt work. With what had happened in mind, my partner and uncle went to spend a load more money on camping cooking equipment so that we wouldn't be using their oven. After they had gone I was having a coffee with my neice, cousin and the disabled member of family who we had rented the lodge for and we were cooking him breakfast (1 pan of sausages). She barged in unannounced and said we had to leave because we were cooking for more than 2 people. We were in fact just cooking some sausages for the disabled person. Then her husband came in and they started shouting at us saying we had to leave. The owner then went to the cooker and picked the pan up saying the sausages were for more than 2 people. She was screaming and shouting swear words in front of the child and disabled person. Then the husband squared up to the 16 year old intimidating him. We were all utterly horrified. We agreed to leave because we did not want to spend one moment longer there and they refused to give us our money back for the night that we should of been staying but had to leave. We are now fighting to get a refund. We had booked the trip for a 16 birthday and it totally ruined it for us. It was the only campsite that was more or less empty during half term.. now I can see why. If you have children, any vulnerable people, disabled members of family and anyone of any colour, do not stay here! They were incredibly hostile and aggressive hosts.

From the manager: When a customer arrives and as you give them a key to a lodge that states quite clearly for two adult only and I new there were another 14 guests of the same family arriving.,and you explain it cannot be used as a hub for catering for the other guests who have only paid for camping.Except for three staying in a pod who on arrival I upgraded to a l lodge as it was for the birthday boy to stay in.This review is written by a member of the party who has only paid for a camping pitch. Then to find garden furniture and chairs were moved from the cafe garden to outside the lodge for all of them to sit on,to eat there cooked tea prepared and cooked in the lodge, which I had explained earlier on there arrival in front of my staff. I did make a comment as passing do you mind not using it for everyone please. Next morning ,thinking they would have thought we are breaking the rules here. To find one by one they were going in coming out ,having used the shower and having a cooked breakfast witnessed by my staff. I went across and politely said you are not taking any notice of what I had said yesterday. One of my lady staff came across with me. To this I was confronted and threatened by the 16 year old boy who towered above me. He swore and made hand gestures as if he was going to punch me. His mother was swearing at me and told me to get out of the kitchen, which was a complete mess and was covered in fat ,I was spoiling his birthday and she was going to call the police to remove me .I simply asked her to abide by my rules. There were another 5 in there who had only paid for camping, eating. I went over to the cooker and there was pans full of fried food ,toast enough to feed the whole campsite. After been sworn at,yes I did ask them to leave.First time I have ever done this. I had customers in the garden having their breakfast and they could hear every word. They said they were shocked how I was been spoken to on my own property and threatened by a bad review. Then my husband did come over, all he said was you herd what my wife said.Best if you leave.I told them they would be refunded for there second night.Which we have done through pitch up. This lodge as had the door and windows open and cleaned three times and still smells of fat and burnt smell. They had broken the bed and pulled the shower trap out, everything is in full working order. I cannot believe they have had the cheak to put this review on.And then for young children to be giving me v,s as they were leaving. I work very hard and will go above to make peoples stay a good one and have made very good friends with customers. When you take pride in your work, and want people to enjoy there stay should we be expected to take abuse when people take advantage and brake the rules.
