A few airstreams on the park
All our pitches are hard standing and fully serviced and a minimum of 9m x 9m

  • Well-equipped touring pitches at a rural Mid Wales site near Caersws
  • A 10-minute drive to Llanidloes and 15 minutes to Newtown
  • Restaurant, bar, adventure playground and crazy golf on site
Travelling Wales in a caravan or motorhome? Make your way to Mid Wales site Meadow Springs Country and Leisure Park for a scenic stay amid the lovely landscapes of the Trannon Valley. Pitches at this park are specifically designed for van-based stays, so they’re flat and made of hardstanding materials – and at nine square metres they’re big enough to cope with most sizes of motorhome or caravan. All pitches here are serviced, and there’s an Elsan point as well. Plenty of other facilities are provided too, to make sure that everything’s nicely convenient – a modern shower/toilet block has accessible facilities, baby changing and space for families, and there’s a utility room for washing up and laundry. Essentials all dealt with, it’s time for the fun stuff – the park has nearly four miles of scenic country pathways to stroll along, and the touring park is just next to the play area with crazy golf, an adventure playground, football and badminton. Dogs are welcome to come along and join you here, taking in the walks by your side or heading to the dog exercise area to run about off lead and meet new pals. It’s all very rural in atmosphere here, but you’re not far from amenities if you want them – it’ll take you about 20 minutes to walk to the village of Trefeglwys with its pub, or five minutes to drive to Caersws for a couple more pubs, shops and a fish and chip shop. If that’s all a bit too far away, it’s handy to know that Arthur’s Restaurant & Bar is on hand right there in the park for meals and drinks; as it gets busy, you may need to book a table in advance.

FHU cement/asphalt travel trailer campsite (adults only)

Liked: Very clean site, extremely warm welcome and attentive staff, toilet facilities were excellent, restaurant was superb with provision for those with dogs being one of 3 outdoor heated pods, toilets/showers modern and very clean, lovely walks on-site around lakes. Evident even more facilities coming, but on site paddle-boarding and canoeing already there. We had an issue with noise in the adult only area one night, but the owner listened and was apologetic. I’m not sure what action was taken but it didn’t happen after that.

Disliked: Being able to buy a few provisions, eg milk, would be helpful.

FHU cement/asphalt and grass travel trailer campsite (disabled friendly)

Liked: Excellent site, greeted with friendly welcome and given information pack with everything you might need to know during your stay. The whole site was very clean, pitches huge and level with the option to pitch any way round. The facilities block is central, modern and always clean, the showers hot with good water pressure, the disabled shower room large. The site is very dog friendly, there are plenty of poo bins and even a dog wash station. There’s lots more that we didn’t use as we were only in the area two nights, but will definitely return to try Arthur’s restaurant. Well done to the owners and staff for keeping such a wonderful site, you have thought of everything to make visitor’s welcome and comfortable! Almost forgot…the Wi-Fi signal is good on site, which is important as we need to keep in touch with family, and not something we find on many sites!

Disliked: Not a dislike, just a small suggestion, for more hanging hooks for clothes in disabled shower room.

Local attractions

The Mid Wales countryside is packed with places to get out for a walk among the gorgeous scenery – the Elan Valley (35 minutes) is perhaps one of the better known areas, with waterfalls, reservoirs and a great family-friendly trail along an old railway line. It’s also worth stopping by at Clywedog Dam (15 minutes) and seeking out the Source of the River Severn (half an hour). You may spot wildlife as you walk, but for guaranteed sightings, take a visit to the Red Kite Feeding Station (half an hour). For a sense of the area’s history and traditions, visit the shops in Llanidloes (10 minutes), see old crafts at Newtown Textile Museum and learn about mining life at the Silver Mountain Experience (35 minutes). Powis Castle and Garden (40 minutes) is a good bet for history buffs, art lovers, garden gurus and families alike. Fancy a breath of seaside air? Head to the west coast to visit Aberystwyth or hit the beach in Aberdyfi (both about 55 minutes).
