Liked: The riverside setting was amazing! Easy drive into Tiverton to pick up supplies. Owner really friendly and approachable. Grassy but not too muddy given the wet summer we’ve all endured.

Primitive grass and earth travel trailer campsite

Liked: Stayed here for a weekend to get some peace and quiet from noisy neighbours and we weren’t disappointed…. A nice well kept field and a very readable price . Personally we didn’t notice any road noise and the wildlife was an added bonus , we saw the squirrels playing in the trees and herons on the river . The shower was lovely and hot and even a sink with hot water and mirror to have a shave 👍. On-site toilet and drinking water also available and the owners were very friendly and were there daily to make sure that everyone was ok as well as to clean the facilities ( which were kept spotless ). Would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a peaceful few days or just an overnight stop. Hopefully this campsite will extend its opening as it really is amazing and we would love to return again.

Primitive grass and earth travel trailer campsite

Liked: We booked last minute for one night and stayed two! Level pitches, well maintained, nice simple facilities in cabin and portaloo. Lovely location with picturesque tree lines and hills alongside the river which the dogs enjoyed a paddle in. Plenty of room for our son to ride his bike. Friendly and helpful owners. Lovely site 🙂

Local attractions

The grounds of Tiverton’s medieval castle stretch all the way to the banks of the Exe and include orchards and woodlands. On the outskirts of the town, the Gothic Revival-style National Trust - Knightshayes Court (20 minutes) is an imposing red-brick mansion with formal and kitchen gardens. Let the kids have a go at driving tractors or operating diggers at Diggerland Devon (20 minutes). There are also rides, go-karts and a large indoor soft-play area, plus miniature train rides for younger children. A lively university city, Exeter (25 minutes) is home to the Royal Albert Memorial Museum and Art Gallery, with varied collections ranging from antiquities to textiles, and from decorative arts to natural sciences. Built between 1100 and 1400, Exeter Cathedral has a remarkable vaulted ceiling.
