  • Family- and dog-friendly site a mile from stunning Mousehole harbour
  • Ramblers’ paradise: easy access to the South West Coast Path
  • A 25-minute drive from Land's End, 20 minutes from top surfing spots
Cornish beaches, busy towns and a scenic fishing village with a great story… You get it all at Mousehole Camping, a peaceful family site in the village of Paul, five minutes’ drive from Mousehole and 15 minutes from Penzance. Mousehole Camping is a prime spot to base yourself for some exploration of Cornwall: in nearby Penzance, you can pick up the South West Coast Path and the St Ives Bay Line, bringing the dog along so the two of you can call into some of the dog-friendly pubs along the route. Make your way into Mousehole and down to the harbour to laze on the beach or do as the locals do and fish… then wander the cobbled streets, nose around galleries and local shops, and eat at the fishy-focused restaurants. Back on site, Mousehole Camping is in the grounds of a local football club, where matches can occur at short notice (the site tries to minimise the disruption but bear this in mind). Guests get free entry to the football matches, where a clubhouse bar is open on match days. The facilities (a couple of minutes' walk from the main camping area) are shared with the football club and include a toilet, showers (within the changing rooms) and an accessible toilet/shower room. On match days, the shower and washing-up area are shut, while the toilets remain open, and during low season, only the accessible toilet/shower room are open (and cleaned on an ad-hoc basis). There's also wifi. Barbecues are allowed: pick up supplies from the supermarkets in Penzance or fresh fish from the port in Newlyn, five minutes away. If you’d prefer a break from cooking, stroll to the village pub for some food and drinks, or try one of the restaurants within 15 minutes of the site. Please note that this site is run by volunteers. From mid-September until Easter, there are no permanent staff on site. As a peaceful site, music should be kept to a minimum and quiet hours begin at 10pm.

Liked: The wifi connection and level pitch Mousehole harbour is very pretty!

Disliked: - No owner to welcome me. - Football match in the evening with music. - Toilets/showers far away from the pitch. - Not feeling safe as a female traveler due to the football match

From the manager: Hi Sandrine, Thanks for your visit and for taking the time to leave a review. We are pleased that you enjoyed the area and appreciated the level hardstanding pitches and good wi-fi on site. Unfortunately, at this time of year our volunteer staff are not always on site to welcome all guests. Given our location at a football ground, there are occasions when football matches occur and with this there can be music and a livelier atmosphere. We are sorry that this was not to your liking. Best wishes, Mousehole Camping

Liked: Very nice clean pitch and friendly welcome and a great location for a short walk to Mousehole and nice local village Paul. Nice powerful showers as you get to use the local club house.

Disliked: The toilets were quite far away from the pitch.... Wouldn't want to go there at night time, luckily we have a loo in our camper.

From the manager: Hello, Thanks for leaving a review. Glad you liked our site and location . Our toilets aren't the closest unfortunately, however they are open 24/7 and as you say our strong showers and hot water hopefully go someway in making up for this. Kind regards Mousehole Camping

Liked: A nice little site , you have to share the local football clubs ammenaties but that was`nt a issue. Volunteers were running the site whilst we were there and were full of local knowledge. It`s a nice walk down to Mousehole (20mins) and a nice pub overlooking the harbour with great food , but a 40min walk back to site (uphill all the way ) but we made it ..There is a bus service from Mousehole to Penzance which is very regular . Overall we enjoyed our stay..

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Hello, Thanks for leaving a review, glad that you found our volunteers friendly and helpful. Yes the hill to and from Mousehole is a bit tiresome but is totally worth it for the picturesque views in Mousehole. Worth noting there is also a bus service from Paul village (where we are situated ) to Penzance which alleviates having to walk down the hill. Kind regards Mousehole Camping

Disliked: Toilets and shower too far away. Very basic shower with no proper door lock. Motorhome service point had no drainage.

From the manager: Hello, Thanks for leaving us a review. Sounds like our site wasn't for you. We do ask that all customers read our website first to see about our site and facilities as everything is explained clearly on there. As we are a small independent volunteer run campsite we do not provide fully serviced pitches. We do have electricity on site and a chemical toilet emptying point a short walk from the pitches. Kind regards Mousehole Camping

Liked: The area was lovely as we're the staff! Wish we could have stayed to watch the cricket match that was on but we had plans for the day. It was our first time going on holiday with our dog and we were a little worried bit the site was dog friendly and it definitely helped ease our minds. The staff on site were lovely always checking to see how we were doing it was really lovely Would 100% recommend and we will definitely come again when we are next down.

Liked: Rustic but lovely location. Arrived with football game at one side and cricket game on the other. Fantastically friendly staff, very helpful and always happy to chat. Whilst facilities are basic, everything is within a short amble and adds to the feel of the site.

Disliked: The hill through Newlynn to get to the site! Lol!! Really steep.

Local attractions

Fans of BBC costume drama Poldark will find plenty to keep them occupied around here, with many names and places to recognise: Godolphin House, the mines at Botallack and Levant, and Porthcurno beach (Nampara Cove) are all within half an hour of Mousehole Camping and all worth a visit. Of course, if your passions lie less in TV drama and more in the arts, you won’t be let down – catching a show at the Minack Theatre, an open-air theatre carved into the cliffs above Porthcurno, is an absolute must. You can’t very well make a trip to this part of Cornwall and not visit the most westerly point of mainland England… Land’s End is a 25-minute drive from Mousehole Camping. Be sure to get a photo with the famed sign, and stop for a Cornish cream tea before you leave. Anyone drawn to the ocean will have plenty to do too: the top-notch surfing beach at Sennen is 20 minutes away, boat trips out to the Scilly Isles leave Penzance regularly, and the stunning St Michael’s Mount is a short walk along a causeway or an even shorter boat journey from the coast.
