Power optional grass travel trailer campsite

Liked: Kevin, site manager, very very helpful, polite, chatty. Spoke to us, when passing walking his dog. Gave his mobile number, in case of any issues or needed information. Lovely quiet place to stay, right by the river. Toilet/ shower block was clean and well maintained. Went to the other site, just over a mile away, fendicks fishery, paddy and Lisa own/ run it, didn’t really have much time/ interest in talking to us about seasonal pitch, so we left it.

Disliked: Grange farm, absolutely nothing.

Power optional grass travel trailer campsite

Liked: As part of a RNR team we chose this site to be close to our start. The site was clean and friendly with good sized pitches, there is road noise but personally it didn’t affect us. The site owners were absolutely legendary, we found ourselves locked in at 4am in the morning (not realising the code was on the toilet block key). Reluctantly I woke the hosts to be able to leave. On return I apologised, this was taken with good humour, once again sorry, sorry, sorry 🙏

Power optional grass travel trailer campsite

Liked: Lovely relaxing site. Our pitch was on the riverbank. Site is well maintained. Kev and Anna are very helpful and are doing a lot to put right the previous owner's lack of maintenance. We will return next year.

Disliked: A slight downside which is no reflection on the owners or the site. At certain times of day, the traffic from the nearby A134 can be a little noisy. We did get used to it over our ten days stay. It would not stop us from returning

Liked: Booking online is easy

Disliked: Rude reception. I phoned to apologise that we will be late on arrival due to circumstances that we have not expected and we will miss the reception on arrival. However, the person who answered the phone was very rude and said that we do not have any other option but to arrive before 6 o'clock. Her partner said though that we can pitch wherever we wanted and they can move us the next day which was fine. We arrived there but we do not have access to all toilets, so we ended up leaving the site.

Liked: Lovely pitch and site, clean, tidy, and friendly, I thought good value for money, very relaxing and dog friendly

Disliked: Noisy road but what do you expect for the price, stoke Ferry hasn’t got too much to offer so best to drive out and about

Local attractions

Keen on outdoorsy endeavours? With Thetford Forest just a 10-minute drive away, get stuck in… feet first, indeed, if you begin at High Lodge (25 minutes’ drive), where there are Segways for hire and several cycling or hiking trailheads diverting off into the beech, oak and silver birch. High Lodge also organises activities like archery, and there’s a Go Ape Thetford (25 minutes) with zipwires, so take your pick. That should be plenty of family-friendly activities to get on with, but if you're looking for more, a farm park should do the trick: Melsop Farm Park (35 minutes) and Church Farm - Stow Bardolph (15 minutes) both have farm-themed activities. Just a couple of turns of the car will get you to Oxburgh Estate (five minutes) for a totally different day out. The National Trust site has a Victorian garden, a parkland with a chalk river and Victorian Gothic interiors. When it’s time for some fresh sea breeze, the beaches of Hunstanton (50 minutes) and Heacham (45 minutes) are northwards, and Norfolk Lavender (45 minutes) and the market town of King’s Lynn (25 minutes) are also in the same direction. Seeing the countryside is always a fine thing, especially when you’re chugging along three miles of historic railways on a locomotive from Bressingham Steam & Gardens (40 minutes).
