Liked: location ,quaint village nearby (400m) Half moon pub so welcoming & food & drink spectacular. On site owner Terry ,kind ,accommodating & faced with ginormous task of re-vamping the holiday park single handed ,no mean feat post covid . New showers ,plentiful steaming hot water & clean toilets
Disliked: No pool ..currently being renovated No pub/food ..currently being renovated. The whole place is thoroughly dated & a little run down but it is slowly on the up & up

From the manager: Thank you, really appreciate a positive review despite the ongoing renovations/improvements meaning some facilities not available. Hope Daisy has recovered

Liked: Nothing!
Disliked: We arrived, reception was empty, indeed a glance through the window revealed stacks of furniture upturned and in disrepair. Phoned the provided number, a dead line, no answer. Therefore, no idea where we supposed to pitch. This afforded us a site inspection and it looked nothing like the website pictures; more post-apocalypse - dirty, dishevelled, broke. We drove our camper onto a pitch with no static caravans, to find it a quagmire, the van became stuck in deep mud. Thankful for a family with a 4 wheel drive who toed us. They told us we were the second family they'd seen get stuck that week. We escaped without staying a minute more.

From the manager: For some reason my dispute to this review was declined so I shall reply here. As far as I was aware the customer did not actually show up, they claim the phone line wasn't working but I had received calls from other customers that day. There were other people on the park who would have guided you to the bungalow where I would have helped you and guided you to your pitch. The area has been subject to an unusually wet winter and spring and some areas of the fields have suffered from water logging. That said, I saw no evidence of a vehicle having got stuck in deep mud. There were two other families on that field and neither of them experienced any difficulty driving on and off the field. The inside of reception comprises a desk, four round garden tables and a few fold up chairs, none of which were upturned nor in disrepair. Your description of the park being "post apocalypse, dirty, dishevelled and broke" are unfounded and over the top
This site was overpriced for a muddy field with a small toilet block

Liked: Toilets and showers were clean. Free laundry
Disliked: Swimming pool was closed Play park was closed Toilets were about 100 yards from the field in a WW2 asbestos and iron nissen hut. There was only one shower in the gents and there was no dry space to get dressed. There were notices saying that the toilets were being renovated. The grey water emptying point was overflowing with excrement everywhere. The washing up area was open air so not nice in rainy weather. Only tried to go to the bar once but it was shut I had to search for the owner to pay for my stay. The site was very run down and nothing like the pictures.

From the manager: Reasons for the pool being closed were told to you and signs are positioned on gates leading to the pool. Play park was open Yes the toilets are situated in an old building, apparently have been for 30 odd years at least. They are being renovated and the signs explained. Asbestos has been tested and is safe. The grey water area was not overflowing, this is a blatant lie. When inspected, as it is every day, the level was a bit high but wasn't anywhere near the top. When rodded it was found someone had put a large item into it which had caused a blockage. There is another washing up sink located in the laundry on the other side of the wall to the outside one.
Will not be returning to this campsite ever

Liked: The company of my family
Disliked: It was nothing like the photos on the website. When we arrived i had to be told where to find the owner by the builders as the reception hut was locked. place was very run down and the swimming pool was out of use and had been for sometime, there was only one male and 2 female showers in an old nissan hut along with just a few toilets. The play park was old and broken.

From the manager: Not wishing to split hairs but the reception is never locked and there is a notice with a phone number for contacting me. The reason the swimming pool was closed was given and accepted by you and your other family members. The park is being updated on an ongoing basis with some work already done or underway. We took over the park in September 2023 in a worse state it is now but improvements are being made. I've been told by previous visitors the "Nissan" hut adds to the character of the park. Not everyone would see it that way as is evident in your comments. I find your review in some respects correct but also detrimental, uncalled for and disrespectful

Liked: The location of the site was nice and quiet. There is a beautiful pub at the bottom of the road where we spent most of the weekend due to the basic campsite.
Disliked: It was a very basic campsite. The swimming pool was closed due to unsafe structure and refurbishment - this was not flagged prior to booking. The showers were under refurbishment - this was not flagged prior to booking. The grass in the touring field had not been cut and was waterlogged. The reception on arrival wasn't the friendliest. There are no card facilities - its either cash or bank transfer for everything There were two dead birds in the laundry room. The water for the dishwasher area was freezing cold, not hot water available.

From the manager: Thank you for your review to which I reply. Yes, at present the park is basis but there are many, many parks that are even more basis than ours. We took over in September 2023 and are making improvements all the time. The reason the pool was closed was explained and it has been taken off the list of facilities until repairs have been made and it's safe to use. Ongoing work in the showers/toilets does not affect their usage and did not have to be flagged. The area around the perimeter of the field allowing space for siting caravans and driving around it was cut but the inner area was soggy due to recent rain added to a winters worth of continual wet weather. It was left long to discourage vehicles driving on it and getting bogged down. It was explained that the card machine wasn't set up at the time, it is now. As soon as the birds were pointed out to me they were removed. Seems like they got stuck behind the washing machines. If the dishwashing area water problem had been pointed out to me at the time it would have been resolved. I think the points you raised could have been discussed while you were here instead of posting them on Pitchup

Liked: Lovely area. Great local pub. Nice pitch.
Disliked: Park was basically closed down. No pub (which is advertised on site), no hot water in shower, no running water in washing up stations! Showers in need of modernisation. Neighbouring property has dog barking all night. However I did only pay 3/4 after complaining.
