Birdwatching or BMX? Festivals or forest hikes? No need to make a choice at CamperParken, a wooded haven just outside the Danish town of Haderslev in the province of South Jutland: it’s a peaceful, flower-filled site, surrounded by walking paths and cycle ways about 15 minutes’ ride (or 10 minutes’ drive) from downtown Haderslev. In a setting around 40 minutes’ drive from the German border, CamperParken is a melting pot of outdoor sorts from all over the world, who are either sightseeing around the scenery of South Jutland or passing through to Copenhagen, Sweden and beyond: meet new pals around the campfire to hear (and share) travelly tales. The site is also a friendly, clean and unfussy spot to recharge from all the adventures you’ll be having in the surrounding area, from touring castles to spearfishing. Nor will you and your brood feel like forest dwellers if you fancy a slap-up nosh in town: family bathrooms, baths and hot showers combine with the on-site laundry to keep everyone looking city slick when they need to.

Liked: campings in Denemarken zijn duur en dan valt deze plek nog mee.

Disliked: Op de heenweg 29mei betaalde ik +/- 20.xx euro gisteren op de terugweg moest ik 26,78 afrekenen (195DKK) maar de prijs ter plaatse is 185DKK of 25euro. Er wordt dus teveel gerekend. Het ligt langs een doorgaande weg, waar hard wordt gereden, ook snachts, ook afval kan je niet kwijt.

Liked: Quiet over night stop conveniently located. Supermarket 1 mile away. It’s a basic stop but ok. Next time we would use their field directly opposite.

Disliked: If shower is in use you cannot use the loo.

Liked: Good place to stay for a night (...or two). Perfect for dogs, forest for walks is right around the corner. Shower and toilet are simple and clean. Easy check in, also if the owners are not around. But you are next to a main road (...less traffic in the evening, not really disturbing).

Power optional grass tent site

Liked: Gepflegtes, sauberes Grundstück, Wenn Dinge benötigt werden, kann man diese in einem Kleinen Regal nach kaufen

Disliked: Laute Verkehrstraße die neben dem Grundstück verläuft (es wird auch nachts nicht besser). Ein bisschen gruselig, alle die angekommen sind haben sich verwirrt umgeschaut, da nicht klar war wo man hin musste. Eine Toilette mit Dusche für alle, sorgt morgens ein wenig für Stau. Wir haben keinen Lagerfeuerplatz auf dem Grundstück gefunden zum Grillen und auch keine Infos darüber gefunden auf dem Platz. :(

Es ist 800 m zu einem großen Laden wo man alles kaufen kann. Wir haben auch Minigolf DiscGolf Fußball Golf und japanische ParkGolf gerade neben an hier gibt es viel zu tun wenn man will. Einen großen Wald zum spazieren gehen weg von der Straße wenn man will.

Liked: Enkelt å bestille på nett, god pris. Et rolig sted med god atmosfære, rent og stort bad. Strøm nok til alle. Deilig å kunne stå under trærne på den åpne plassen i skogen, de gav fin skygge i varmen. Rikt dyreliv. Kort sykkelavstand til sentrum. Takk for oss nok en gang!

Local attractions

Haderslev is a mix of ancient traditions and the ultra modern, so spend a day or three here to see what you can spot and get stuck into. A group of nightwatchmen can be seen patrolling town some days in original 13th-century garb: take a tour with them and visit the museum to learn about policing the medieval mean streets. There are also museums in town devoted to archaeology, earthenware, carriages and natural history, while the old cathedral and its three organs host world class festivals and recitals. If that’s not your bag, grumble not, mountain biking and go-karting and climbing walls are at Acture Park, and a jaw-dropping array of street sports from rollerskating to scooters and parcour is on offer at the town’s Street Dome complex. If all that sounds too taxing, take a boat cruise on the lake or a longer journey out to sea down the fjord, and for a mix of gentle town strolls and history, head over to UNESCO-protected Christiansfeld, 10 minutes’ drive away, an elegant town planned and built in the 18th century by German emissaries of the Moravian Church. There’s more history to be had at Gram Castle, half an hour away, a medieval pile with resident ghosts and after-dark spook-spotting tours, and on the cheery, chuffing steam train ride between Haderslev and Vojens (20 minutes). Want to see the sea? Make for coastal spots like Hejlsminde and Årøsund (15 and 20 minutes away) for boat trips, spearfishing, snorkelling and simple dips.
