Unpowered grass tent or campervan site (sea view, sloping)

Liked: Friendly welcome and helpful staff giving options on where to stay. The facilities were immaculate, free showers and hot water a definite bonus. Lots of different areas for all types of vehicles and camping. The extra events ie evening bar and pizza night created a great relaxed atmosphere for everyone

Disliked: Nothing

Liked: The cleanliness of the site, friendly staff and campers, very idyllic lovely sea view great access to Ilfracombe and surrounding areas the food different taste themed nights good prices and the horse box bar plenty games and pool table tennis loved our stay!

Disliked: Was nice having sea view but sloped area some sloped more than others personally could of done with bigger chocks! Could do with toilet in top field or something mobile towable?

Unpowered grass tent or campervan site (sea view, sloping)

Liked: The view was amazing, loved they had different food daily and a little bar. Close by to nice walks & attractions by car. Will definitely be back :)

Disliked: Ocean view pitch was on a slight hill so we woke up a bit further down but that’s okay I’m sure there were better spots.

Unpowered grass site

Liked: The pizzas and breakfasts were delicious. Broadsands beach was one of the prettiest little beaches I've ever seen (lots of steep steps to reach it but if you can manage it it's worth it!) Cute goats on the campsite Good showering facilities and shop on site We walked to Ilfracombe along the coastal path which was beautiful. The tunnels beaches there were also stunning, well worth the £3.75 each we paid to get in.

Disliked: Slightly slanted pitches. Wouldn't stop me coming back though

Unpowered grass site

Liked: This is probably the most baby friendly campsite I have ever been too. We took our 9 month old camping to test the waters before Glastonbury Festival this year and I can honestly say I am blown away by the amenities they had for us as a young family. The staff were all so friendly and welcoming and helped us with every need. There is even a baby room for you to change, wash and even breastfeed should you wish too. We will definitely try and come back in the summer

Disliked: Due to no fault of their own, their baby swing was cracked so I didn’t feel safe placing my child in there, if this could be replaced I would be over the moon

Local attractions

Time to tick off the North Devon coves and harbours? Start with splendid Combe Martin (five minutes’ drive), a seaside resort with a sheltered cove for peaceful days on the sand. Surfers might want to slide on over to Saunton Sands (half an hour), while those seeking scenic clifftop hikes will get on well with the Valley of Rocks’ (35 minutes) wild goats and sea views. Take off on a fishing trip or a sea safari from Ilfracombe Harbour (10 minutes). Lundy Island is one of the most popular tour spots for such boat trips. There’s a working lifeboat station in the harbour too if that sort of stuff entertains you. Once you’ve checked out the lifeboats, turn back time a little with a trip to Arlington Court (20 minutes), a National Trust site with a Regency house and a carriage museum. Or perhaps all the way back to the time of dinosaurs? Kids are likely to love the life-sized dino models at Combe Martin Wildlife & Dinosaur Park (10 minutes) and its zoo and fossil museum.
