  • No-frills site on a Shropshire farm with views of the Cheshire Plains
  • A 10-minute drive to Market Drayton; half an hour to Stoke on Trent
  • Meet the animals; farm shop selling fresh produce; wooded walks nearby
Set up in a remote spot with birdsong and farm animals as your morning soundtrack… Park Hill Farm is a scenic site on a dog-friendly working farm 10 minutes’ drive from Market Drayton, in north Shropshire. And in case you’re wondering just how scenic the location is… well, it overlooks the Cheshire Plains, Wrekin and the Welsh hills, as well as sitting alongside a woodland that is a Site of Special Scientific Interest. The site is set up for wild camping – meaning back-to-basics facilities, and no electricity or showers. There’s no WiFi, either, so instead of scrolling on their phones, children can let off steam in the fresh air and get involved in meeting the animals with the farmer (new friends may include pigs, cows and cats). Sourcing supplies for a gas barbecue is simple, since the site sells free-range eggs from its happy hens, along with its own beef burgers, pork sausages and bacon, plus a handful of pre-packaged essentials like bread, milk, breakfast cereals and ice creams. If you’re in need of any extras, the village of Loggerheads (10 minutes’ drive along the A53) has a couple of small shops, as well as a pub and an Indian restaurant. If you want to leave the car behind, Loggerheads can be reached with a splendid 15-minute walk through the country. (This is just one of several paths you can take from the site through the local woodlands and farmlands. The farm shop has maps you can borrow.)

Unpowered grass tent or motorhome site

Liked: We only stayed 1 night as a stop off on the way to the Lake District but this campsite was perfect for us. Easy to find (even as it was starting to get dark) and as we arrived we were greeted and shown into the field. Being the time of year (late September) we had the place all to ourselves! Gorgeous views, lovely and peaceful. On a working farm so obviously some typical farm noises but it was lovely to be out in the countryside. 2 portaloos on site, water tap and recycling bins. Can’t comment on the surrounding area as we didn’t explore much but would definitely return. Thanks for a lovely stay!

From the manager: Hi Tiffany, it was lovely to meet you all, and so glad you managed to stay a while before having to travel north. We are sure you had a lovely holiday, and hope to see you again in 2024. You can book us and the whole site if you wish, should you have a private party that needs a camping site!! Take care, and thank you for your lovely review. Best wishes Pat and John

Liked: Friendly farmers, beautiful views, clean toilets.

Disliked: The way to this farm is little bit uncomfortable.

From the manager: Hi Mitchal. It was great to meet you both and we hope your journey is going well. Yes, the drive is a bit bumpy, as the rain has washed the hard core away from the drive. We are in the process of getting this fixed. Thank you for bringing this to our attention. Your visit, and comments are very much appreciated. Enjoy our British countryside and have a safe journey home. Perhaps, in the future, you will meet your friends here and book the site out on an exclusive basis! Best wishes Pat and John

Unpowered grass tent or motorhome site

Liked: The children could just run around in the field, they loved seeing the animals, Pam and her family were really welcoming

Disliked: We didn't dislike anything, the only criticism we would say is that the grass in the camping field was a little to long

From the manager: Hi, it was great meeting you all and thank you for the lovely review. Yes, I can only apologise about the grass length. Our contractor let us down. He was due to have come on Friday. He was needed by Farmers making hay so let us down. Next time, it should be a bit shorter. We try to have the grass cut every 2 weeks, but this week it has grown a lot. We hope to welcome you here again. Thank you for supporting us and for your feedback. Best wishes Pat and John
