Campsite reception

  • Among spectacular scenery on the south coast of Landes
  • A 15-minute drive from Hossegor surf resort
  • Heated pool, restaurant and beauty parlour
You'll be rather close to the fab foams that make the splendid surfing at Hossegor if you're sojourning at Camping Nature l'Airial: the site is in southern Landes and five minutes from the town centre and beach at Soustons. (Even better, a free shuttle bus takes guests to the beaches from the site every July and August.) Soustons is a great place to enjoy all that the region has to offer, from paddleboarding on the lake to surf lessons, forest walks, high ropes or bike paths that extend into several pretty parts of the Landes (think places like Léon, Moliets and Vieux Boucau). Watersporters of all ilks have only to walk a mere minute or two from L'Airial to more waters, as its location is front of a large calm lake. And yet (many) more watery days can be had at the campsite's pools, where classes, parties and games go with a splash too. L'Airial has two pools – one indoors, heated to 28 degrees and with air conditioning; the other outdoors with a water games area and surrounded by a broad sun terrace with comfy deckchairs. Both pools are closely supervised all day by a team of qualified lifeguards. Waterslides are available too. A kids’ club and a range of fun activities are available in July and August, so families will be kept amply entertained. A little more about the site… L'Airial is in a pine forest, in front of that watersports lake, and has been going strong for over 50 years: you might have figured from the above that they've figured out fairly well what guests might want on a holiday. They've also added the means for massages, at the on-site beauty parlour (extra charges apply), plus a padel court, a multisports field and a playground. And there's yet more… among the many other services on site for your convenience are a restaurant, a café with views of the lake, a grocery store, barbecue areas, a washing machine and a tumble dryer.

Electric grass pitch

Liked: Nothing.

Disliked: Just about everything. When we arrived, there was nobody at the reception and we had to wait what seemed like forever. No apologies were given and the receptionist wasn't particularly nice. The whole place smelled like piss and you apparently can't leave before 7 AM!?!? They close the gates and lock you in. Even after 7 nothing would open and if it wasn't for the friendly man that helped us through the emergency number, we would've still stood there for many more hours. Definitely do not recommend and honestly, such a rip off.

Electric grass pitch

Liked: Lovely area and lovely climate. Facilities on site were very clean and had everything we needed. Liked the cycle hire, liked the pool complex. Liked being able to walk the dog across the road in the woods around the lake, especially as there was a small bar down there. Liked the on-site bar and shop. Staff were friendly and helpful. Lots of shade. Good WiFi.

Disliked: Thumping music from neighbouring campsite, but that was only from 9 till 11pm so no problem really.

Electric grass pitch

Liked: We traveled in October and spent 6 days here. The pitches had elec hook up and a water tap so lots of convenience. The indoor/outdoor pools were great for the kids with the slide. We were out of season so the cafe and entertainment was closed but we made use of the basketball court and ping pong tables. There is a beautiful surfers beach 10 mins drive we viseted and the local toun of Soustons was great to visit 5 mins away. Would definitely go back.

Disliked: Only down side would be the issue we had gaining access on the 1st night out of business hrs but this wasnt the fault of the site but a technical issue with the rizing gate system.

Electric grass pitch

Liked: The pool was nice although on hot days the loungers were all taken. We liked the size of the camping pitch. The tennis court was nearby at an extra cost. We enjoyed the cycling on paths accessed from the back of the site through a gate. We ate in the restaurant once - menu basic but v nice food. Pizza also good.

Disliked: The toilet/shower block felt very large and imposing. The toilet roll often ran out and the cleanliness wasn’t great. There were some male/female separated washrooms but no one seemed to take any notice. It was also a long walk from our pitch to the toilet block and was poorly lit, noone liked going after dark. There was a lot of noise and on a couple of occasions people were still loudly laughing and chatting at 5am. It didn’t have a family feel to it on this site and felt more suited to groups of adults.
