Adventure time… sorted. At Whitemills Wake and Aqua Park, just outside Sandwich, you’ll be staying right next to the watersports centre – so getting to those outdoor activities could hardly be easier.
As the name suggests, this place has a floating inflatable aqua park to try out, and a variety of wakeboarding activities including beginner lessons and sessions for more experienced wakeboarders. And that’s not all – you can also book ringo rides, open-water swims, SUP yoga sessions and sauna/cold plunge experiences.
You’re going to need plenty of fuel to get you through all those activities, so it’s very handy that the site is also home to a popular restaurant that serves up home-made meals for breakfast and lunch, alongside a good range of drinks. You can shelter indoors there or take your meals and drinks out onto the terrace to watch all the action on the lake.
Come evening time, you’re welcome to light up a barbecue or firepit for a cosy evening on site, or you may like to stroll into Sandwich for an evening out – it will take you about 15 minutes to walk to the pubs and restaurants in the town centre. You can also pick up train or bus connections there for trips to nearby seaside resorts including Margate, Ramsgate and Broadstairs, or inland to Canterbury.
With easy access from two A roads, this is a handy spot for all sorts of Kent days out, including beach days and zoo trips. All sorts of guests are welcome here, including families, couples, groups and those travelling with their dogs.
