We were surprised how quiet the site was given it is so close to St Ives and we stayed in the middle of the school holidays. We had lots of space to set up our tent and gazebo, and could park the car right next to the tent. There was loads of room for the children to run around, we weren't crowded at all and there was never any noise. There were never any queues for the toilets, showers or washing up areas.

The site doesn't allow dogs, which is perfect for us as we hate them. It was so lovely to be able to enjoy our holiday without out-of-control creatures running around (apart from our own children, of course!).

The site itself is on a slope, but there's no trouble finding a flat spot around the edge of the field to pitch up. It was easy to get pegs into the ground as we rarely hit stones or rocks. The owner was friendly and helpful and was always there when we needed him.

The location was perfect for us, close to St Ives and an easy drive to Trenwith car park (apart from when we met a bus coming down the very narrow lane and had to reverse all the way back). Beautiful sunsets and perfect for stargazing, and lots of wildlife to be seen and heard. The Engine Inn pub is close by and perfect for a drink in the beer garden while the children play on the swings.

There was no phone signal on the site (EE), but with no power to charge the phones this wasn't a problem and was actually a nice break from being always connected.

Toilets and showers were cleaned every day and the water was always hot. There are also cleaning sprays left to hand (but out of reach of children) if needed. Plenty of hooks in the showers and a little stool in each one. Collecting water was easy and there was a wetsuit rinsing area too.

The arrival times are all day, which is very helpful when travelling a long way and not knowing exact arrival time. Departure time is 11am but when we asked the owner he was prepared to relax this a little so we could work around the weather & traffic home.

Electrical power to the pitches would be nice, but this would only drive the price up and we coped perfectly well without it.

Not sure why buses run up and down the very narrow lane to the site, but we had to reverse a long way on one occasion.

Was nice, made to feel welcome, helped and guided and shown facilities on arrival. Nice quiet remote location, clean and witnessed the facilities being cleaned regularly. The water was nice and hot too for the showers and washrooms etc. Ideal and all the basics we're simply laid out and nice had separate Shower facilities for men and women on separate sides.

Nothing disliked really other than finding the place if coming approaching from the right of the entrance as the road on the right of the entrance is too small really especially if you are coming in a large vehicle. But I guess that's the norm in Cornwall. Worth approaching from the left even if adds 3 mins to journey etc. Just saying!

Basic camping but had everything we needed. Also showers were better than most campsites we’ve visited, powerful, spacious, and clean! Location is great as it’s quiet and out of the way but also just a short drive to St Ives and other places.

You can choose your own pitch and there is an option of a mowed field or long grass field. We chose the long grass due to it being less busy however it was less sheltered in the wind and lots of insects (as to be expected) not a negative about the site but if we return we would chose the mowed field.
