Check this out: a 110-acre family estate in Quimper with a 17th-century park and gardens and lots of leisure activities, not least a nine-hole golf course with a driving range and a gym. This Brittany site has a water park spread out over a 600-square-metre space, an indoor swimming pool, a net course in the trees (that alone covers 350 square metres too), a mini farm, a wooden games room, a miniature golf course, tennis, a zip line course (for an additional cost) and activities like a treasure hunt. Tuck into a dish at the restaurant, called Au potager de Lanniron, or the snack bar. There’s also a small convenience store on site. L'Orangerie de Lanniron is near the sea and the banks of the River Odet, and is used as a base for those who like historic sites, wildlife watching, watersports and all sorts of other activities (and relaxation): tennis courts, horse riding, cycling and an adventure swimming pool with wellness complex are all nearby. It’s just 15 to 25 minutes’ drive from the beaches of Sainte-Marine, Kermor and Bénodet. The 17th-century gardens in the French style that lead down three levels to the river and include exotic trees, château gardens, terraces, ponds, flowers, fruit trees and vegetable plots. Guests have the use of a tennis court, a nine-hole golf course and driving range, a restaurant and a bar open from mid-May to the beginning of September. A kids' club runs in July and August for kids.

Tyckte om: What a beautiful site L'Orangerie is. We stayed there for 9 days and enjoyed every one of them. The grounds were big enough to give our Collie a good walk without going over the same ground twice. The restaurant lived up to our expectations. We thought the town might be a bit of a trek, but in reality took only a half hour walk, while there was a god supermarket only 20 minute walk away. An expat local I happened to talk to told me it was the most expensive site in Brittany. I don't know about that, but I paid more for sites in the UK offering far less. In our view it was worth every penny.

Tyckte om: The setting was beautiful. The facilities were like brand new, very well thought out and the best I have ever used. Very convenient for Quimper centre on bicycle.

Tyckte inte om: The wedding party at the chateau which was loud and went on until 4.15am!! A little annoying.

Tyckte om: The setting, the toilets and showers were spotless. The grounds were beautiful and an easy cycle to Quimper. The swimming pool was a lovely and as we went at the end of season it was all very pleasant and peaceful.

Tyckte inte om: The restaurant was closed and the WiFi is only available free in reception. You have to pay a charge for WiFi at your pitch but it was very fast.

Tyckte om: Nice spacious site with large level pitches. Excellent clean facilities, plus nice swimming pool, small shop and lovely gardens and grounds to wander in. Helpful staff. Only a few minutes walk from the centre of Quimper, through woods and along the river, avoiding busy roads.

Tyckte inte om: Washing machine doesn’t seem to like English credit cards. Relatively expensive site fees.

Tyckte om: A fabulous site, exactly as described. Wonderful facilities for children & the chateau grounds provided a lovely place for an evening wander. We only stayed for two nights whilst passing through and was very sad to leave. Could have spent a week here easily. Nice countryside path into Quimper, manageable by the kids on scooters/ bikes. Wonderful pool & trampoline park which were the highlight of our kids stay in France. We will be back......

Tyckte om: There is a lot to do on site and Quimper is easily walkable. There are lovely beaches within half an hour. The Trampleforest is brilliant, fun for parents too. Once in there is a lot included so the price is well justified. The on site shop is well stocked. The showers are the best I've seen on a campsite, all in cubicles with a sink and toilet. Showers are new this year and cleaned frequently.

Tyckte om: All the facilities were excellent and the surroundings lovely. Nice walk into Quimper.

Tyckte inte om: Pitch tiny, muddy, and sloping. Barely room for our Peugeot Boxer and small gazebo. We were there for only three nights but paid the same as people on lovely generous flat pitches with grass!

Tyckte om: Amazing campsite, immaculate toilets and showers. Beautiful surroundings. Trampforest was a big plus for the kids and swimming pool was perfect too!

Tyckte inte om: Could do with an all day cafe or more choice in the restaurant.

Lokala sevärdheter

Lovely medieval Quimper, ye olde city of art and history, is within walking/cycling distance of L'Orangerie de Lanniron via the pedestrian footpath or cycle path accessible from the site. It's probably the most traditional area of traditional Bretagne and quite the place to wander around for the day seeing its medieval sites, Cathedral St Corentin and fine art museum (sample many galettes while here too…). Another swimming pool, this one with a 60-metre waterslide, is within a short distance, or you could hire a bike, go fishing, go bowling or take to the water in a kayak or boat trip among the wooded valley, châteaux and parks of the River Odet. Benodet, about 10 kilometres from Quimper, has a popular family-friendly beach in Trez as well as a few smaller stretches of sand; take a trip from Benodet too if you want to visit the Glénan Islands, or take a boat across the harbour to see the small old village of Sainte Marine.
