Our second visit here, only two nights this time as a stop off on our way home. It was just as good as we remembered (better in fact due to better weather) and our two boys both loved visiting the animals and exploring in the woods.

We love that fires and BBQs are encouraged unlike some sites where they are banned and we're still astounded (and pleased) that honesty boxes are still a thing.

The owners and staff are friendly and almost always around if you need some assistance and our boys are already asking when we can go back!!!

Minor gripe is that when it's busy there can be a bit of a queue for the showers but apart from that all good here.

Great site with so much potential going forward, both owners very welcoming and accommodating, the flex with the shop being open 24/7 and allowing an honesty system is great and the first time I have ever seen it on camp sites. The bar was great which served ideal sort of food while away quick and easy and as with the drinks very reasonable prices. It was great having the rescue animals about and had quite a few funny moments with the roaming geese, especially when they decided the dogs water bowl would be great to drink from. The woodland nearby allows for great walks, or cycling trips. The idea of hiring out the burners offering top ups for the next night brilliant, enjoyed sitting out late with a bottle. The young lady who was driving about refilling them excellent customer service, full of enthusiasm for her job which was great to see, I think she was enjoying meeting our 10 week old pup just as much lol. I would have given this place 5/5 if the fishing was better, we are local only 40 mins away, if you have young kids id say 11 and below this is a perfect site to keep them entertained.

I do think the fishing lake needs some TLC, they are currently battling an algae problem due to an idiot cutting the cable on the aerator. I caught 4 small one as overall out of 5 attempts there, did not see much movement overall, even on the hot days no carp on top or making their presence known as with a lot of lakes would have. Me and my lad who's 11 very patient dragging in lots of sticks and debris from the bottom, the pegs need a cut back for the trees and bushes to make them more accessible and casting easier especially when have young kids who are learning. It could be an amazing little gem of a lake but deffo needs work to make that happen.

Not a dislike as such site specific, but the amount of people that would let their dogs wonder around not on a lead or tethered was annoying, sat there with our two tethered up and suddenly random dogs appear and sets ours off barking which could put ours in a bad light. The amount of times I heard oh its ok he's a big softy he's got no problem with other dogs, well that's not the point. If your dog is off the lead and something happens with other dogs that are under control ie on lead or tethered then under the revised dangerous dogs act yours is in the wrong, so many owners need educating. Im sure if my dog snapped and caused injury to your dog out of control of the lead, you would be first to want compo or vets fees paid for ( rant over ).

Loved the informality of the site and the space. Lots of rescue farm
animals around with geese wandering freely throughout the site.an honesty box in the shop which is open 24/7 and a small cafe which was sending out fabulous aromas although we didn’t partake.
The owner was so friendly and accommodating. The site felt safe for children to wander freely too.

If I was being picky I would say the ground was a bit worn and could be a problem in wet weather.

I loved every part of it.
