Setmabanning Camping and Caravan Site Review

We recently stayed at Setmabanning Camping and Caravan Site, and overall, it was a good experience. The site is easy to find and boasts absolutely stunning views of Blencathra, a real highlight of the Lake District setting.

As it’s located on a working farm, you can expect farmyard noises, which add a bit of charm but might not be for everyone. There’s a lovely little honesty farm shop on site, which was a nice touch.

We didn’t use the on-site facilities as we have everything we need in our caravan, but it’s worth noting that the site isn’t the cheapest compared to others in the area, some of which offer more extensive facilities for a similar price. However, the electric, grey water, and fresh water hook-ups were all excellent, with no issues, and the hardstanding pitches were a good size.

A standout feature is the location. The Horse & Farrier pub in Threlkeld is just a 10-minute walk away and was lovely. We visited on a Sunday, and it was packed for lunch, so definitely book ahead if you want to eat there.

The site was peaceful and quiet, making it a great spot to relax and enjoy the views. If you’re looking for a simple site with good pitches and a picturesque location, this is a solid choice.

Large plots for motorhomes on hardstanding ground. They are well spaced out and offer Water, grey waste and electric all on each plot.

No signage for waste bins, dog waste bins.
Didnt meet any staff on arrival, during or departure.

Peace and quiet was nice. Not far to Keswick and a short walk to the mining museum. Water and waste at the pitch is always nice.

Not the sites fault but a bit muddy at this time of year and the wood on the bridge was dangerously slippy.

The owners are very friendly, the pitches are huge! This is a working farm and I really enjoyed seeing the farmers going about their work driving sheep, and meeting some of the sheep dogs.
There's a lovely farm shop selling the best bacon, sausage rolls, and cakes.
The location is perfect for hikers, my dog and I hiked a loop over Blencathra on one day and the opposite direction over Clough Head the next, all without moving the van.
There's also easy access to Keswick by car, bicycle, or walking along the old railway trail.

The space of the pitch and the area that it was in was very spacious , there was a farm shop on site which was well stocked . Site is in easy walking to the start of the railway walk into Keswick

Loved the fact that there was so much space between vans.

It being a working farm was lovely and very friendly farmers!

Just a15 min walk to the village which had a lovely pub called horse and ferrier... had such a lovely atmosphere!

It wasn't an issue for us as we have toilet and shower facilities in van but shower block could do with a refurbishment... but they were clean.

Also felt it was quite pricey...
