Upon arrival our van got stuck in the mud, completely our fault, didn't read the sign. We were very quickly pulled out by the helpful staff. The tent field was not suitable to camp on, due to the massive downpour the previous couple of days. Due to this, we were allowed to pitch up on the electric pitches and as a way of apology they said we could use the electricity for free. After that the weather was actually really nice for the time of year so we had a great weekend. The males enjoyed the fishing and I enjoyed the peace and quiet. This was our second visit to Makins and we will definitely visit again. The facilities were clean and extremely warm.

The grounds were so waterlogged we struggled to access the facilities as well as put the tent pegs

Nothing to dislike

The welcome was fantastic and so free and easy. We were directed to a number of pitches where we could simply choose what we wanted. The amenities were good. Shower and toilet block was warm and spacious. The lakes are great if you fish, and there is a 9 hole golf course only a few minutes walk from the site entrance. There is also a separate golf driving range that has football golf available, complete with a comfortable cafe, selling teas, coffee and alcohol.
We stayed here as it was the first night in our motorhome and really close to home.

Albeit the site is quiet, a motorway runs alongside it and there constant road noise. This dissipates as you get used to it, but it is always there.
A grey water waste system for motorhomes would be a great addition to the site.
Not sure if wifi was available as we never needed it.

On arrival what a location with lots of space. A member of staff showed us our pitch for our campervan with flat area close the the shower block. We could watch sun rise over the ponds and fall in the evening. There is a short walk to two lovely pub in the local village and both excellent. We noticed there is a very good play park on site for children close to the on site cafe. Thank you great time hear

Cleanliness of the toilet blocks especially the underfloor heating.

Some noise from the M69 , possibly made worse by the wind direction.

Location, wild life.

Pot holed access, unlevel patch of tarmac as hardstanding.
Rough access, took a while for my teeth to settle.
Could be really nice with just a bit of tlc, block looks grubby and tired already.

Tent pitches were big

Toilets/showers dirty.
got told it wasn’t busy so only one person who would go and clean once a week and even after being ‘cleaned’ the toilets were still dirty, showers were minging, we ended up getting cleaning supplies and cleaning before we went in. Also no toilet roll so had to get our own. There was a sign saying use the bucket and mop after shower but there wasn’t one. One of the sinks were blocked. Won’t be staying again

A lick of paint to the shower ceilings would be nice to hide the mould.
