Peaceful campsite with everything we needed. Lovely views, gorgeous walks, cafe and lake. Will definitely be back in Spring 🍃 #littlegem

We liked the area, the gentle countryside was very relaxing, calming even.
The site itself was incredibly clean, the toilets, showers and washup areas were amazing. The site is very flat making it very comfortable to sleep in a tent and the spaces around the outside were marked so that you had plenty of space. The central grassy area was more flexibly for camping spaces. There is a good playing field for ball games etc.
The lake is right on site and is beautiful. The water is so very clear, fed from a chalk stream. Around the lake is a grassy area which is great for picnics or in our case sitting to paint on.
There is access to the lake 24/7 so we took moonlit walks in the evening BUT we had to watch our step because of the geese poo in the dark :-)
On site also is a lovely cafe open Thursday to Sunday and a small plant nursery.
There is a lovely pathway to the local pub which does superb foods. The pathway runs along the clear stream that feeds the lake.
Everyone, but absolutely everyone, was lovely to us.
Overall it was an amazing little holiday.

Great site and good facilities, so peaceful. You know what your getting and a great touch where you can get local meats brought to you.
Staff was good and great knowledge of camping and caravans.
Loved our stay and so did the kids with the field to run around in and play with other kids.
The camp fire was great fun and the kids went to bed happy following warm marshmallows.
Will be back next year.

Nothing, great experience

We stayed at Litton Lakes this weekend and have nothing but wonderful things to say. Right from the get go we were given the warmest welcome (even with my naughty dog jumping from the car after a long car journey and running around crazy) she gave us a quick run through the site - café opening hours/do's and don'ts/toilets/water.

I noticed signs to mention dogs must be kept on leads etc however lady advised that all good is well and dogs are encouraged to use the lakes and can even use the hired paddleboards when purchased from them which was super handy and reassuring to know as this is what I was most looking forward to!

We arrived early with our friends arriving later in the day, on the website it says they cannot guarantee pitches, however they actively told us to occupy the pitch next to us with to ensure we could camp together.

The toilets were basic but more than enough for a weekend camping and i never had to wait in line to use the toilet or shower block despite reading a few other reviews - the toilet light was still out but once you knew it was there, its easily avoidable by using your torch you more than likely walked across the field with.

We got a feeling that the site was occupied by regulars as when we arrived, three(?) other campers from different points of the site actively came over to us to greet our dogs and just a general welcome which we honestly really apricated. This gave us some sort of reassurance that should we have faced any sort of trouble on site (dog getting off the lead/forgotten some sort of camp gear) that people would be nice enough to lend a helping hand.

The lake itself was lovely, all different depths and was very nicely kept which made it easy to access and nice for the dog to go swimming and cool off. The Geese were not bothered by either us or the dogs which is a nice feeling as you know that they are not feeling stressed out by anyone's presence.

Whilst there isnt actually a shop on site, there is one just down the road and is about 10 mins max drive so super handy to have on hand.

The café isn't open early doors but 10am is perfectly fine to start your day, its very clean and super cute inside - i thought it was very well priced.

The campsite was very quiet at night despite most people sitting outside with fires and most people with a radio on. The site as a whole was very accommodating. we camped next to the play field which we thought wed take a gamble on and hope not being woke up by kids at 8am kicking the call into the goal nets on site but this honestly was just never a problem for us.

When we arrived, there were two fire pits already on our site, we didnt use them as we didnt pay the fire pits and we didnt want to take advantage in case they had been left over from the campers before us. However we were told that if we had the wood we are more than welcome to use the pits which was so nice of them as other campsites you usually have a pay quite a steep fee plus the wood on top.

The walk to both the pub and beach were super easy, good direction and walk. we Stopped off at two very dog friendly pubs which were divine - the club house - on west bexington beach and the crown inn which we would recommend both entirely. It was around a 12km circular walk from the campsite to the beach with a ever so slight detour on the way back to visit The Crown Inn.

We stayed with our friends, we are both common campers and we have both actively said that we would recommend Litton Lakes to other friends and family and we are already looking at a weekend to head back next year!

I could have just missed this on the booking somewhere but we arrived with all of our BBQ food ready for the weekend however a few hours after we arrived, a guy come round in a car from the local farm shop offering all different kinds of meat which is a shame as we would have rather to have bought from there - like I said I might have missed this so may have actually been my fault?!

for reference, he advised he comes around every Tuesday & Friday evening.

Lovely location and could be a fantastic site. Nice little cafe and benches around the lake.

Very, very noisy with big groups. Probably could do with more facilities on site.

Fabulous location. Friendly and helpful staff. No restrictions so we could all park together and the fire pit an added bonus

We caught a fantastic last of the summer trip in September and was not disappointed - Litton Lakes has everything! A cafe with excellent staff and amazing treats (the smoothies are extraordinary), a lovely pub just 5 minutes walk away, the star of the show - the lake itself and 2 geese to top off the experience. We traveled with young ones including grumpy teens and yapping terriers but this place put a smile on everyone. I would like to extend our massive thanks to Sarah who was just an Angel of a warden, this is someone who goes to great lengths to make you feel welcome, maintains the “classy” site to a high standard and tackles problems quickly and head on to ensure everything is safe and everyone has all that they need. We will absolutely be coming back when the weather is warmer, and are so pleased that we got to find this magical spot in Dorset.

Everything-only wish we could have stayed longer! Loved the food and playing games in the cafe and children had a wonderful time paddle boarding on the lake.
