The size of the campsite and each pitch is perfect, not overcrowded and lots of privacy between the pitches. Management is very welcoming and always helpful. We also loved the lake and that we could bring our own kayaks without any extra charges. It’s a perfect family campsite, peaceful and in a great location close to many beautiful beaches.

We couldn’t swim in the lake much as it was full of some kind of weed, but it was still good for paddle boarding and kayaking.

Quiet, clean site. The Staff were helpful and friendly particularly in the Purple Turtle Cafe where the young staff were lovely.
Added bonus is the lake which is beautiful to look at and fun to practice paddle boarding.

Needs to update toilets (which I think are planned for next year) which would make a stay even more comfortable.

How friendly the people are. On arrival the warden was brilliant and always helpful.

The scenery is beautiful

The pitch sizes are more than reasonable and not overfull

We’re looking forward to the new facilities coming September 2024 - this will massively improve the shower and toilet options

We love how safe this campsite is as our children made lots of friends

Goose poo - can’t be avoided with two geese 🪿 but the only negative thing we can thing off

Lovely quiet location with gorgeous scenery. Good sized pitches.
Lake great for paddle-boarding.

Not enough toilets/showers compared to number of pitches, more regular cleaning needed as often did not have anything to dry hands.
Could do with a shop onsite to buy staples like bread and milk - especially as no facility to freeze ice packs.
Major issue with wasps onsite, could do with some traps/deterrents
Café stopped taking food orders half an hour before closing but this was not written on the menu, so was disappointing.

This is a small, family oriented site, with just one field of good flat pitches. Pitches aren't assigned and there was a choice of shade/sun, roadside or central. Did get a bit breezy in the centre of the field! We were travelling on our own, but there were several groups of families who were easily able to pitch together. The lake is lovely and we had fun paddleboarding in it. Toilets and showers were always clean. Check-in was relaxed and friendly. Cafe had lovely toasties and milkshakes. Even though it was quite full this still felt like a quiet campsite, with mostly families with younger children. Good location for day trips to Weymouth, Lyme Regis and Wareham

The only downside is that in August 2024 there were only 3 toilets and 2 showers for the whole site. We did often have to queue over our stay, though usually for less than 5 minutes. They have solar powered lighting that sometimes didn't work, so you may need a torch at night and even on overcast days. They are quite small, so a larger adult trying to clean more than one child at a time would struggle!

The location is fantastic-accessible and easy to get to beaches. Scenery is beautiful. Pub is walking distance (but we didn’t try it so can’t comment on quality).
The lake is lovely for paddle boarding.

Wasps were a real nuisance so some humane wasp traps would have helped.
Cafe only stayed open until 3pm some days and although the staff were friendly, some weren’t particularly knowledgeable about paddle board hire system (which is non-bookable-just first come first served).
It would have been great if it was clearer that the fire pits weren’t suitable for cooking on and that no grill is provided.
Somewhere to freeze ice packs would be useful too.
There was no enforcement of loud music being played after 9pm, which is clearly stated as an important rule for the site.
Having stayed on other great sites with handy amenities that make all the difference, I don’t think we’d come back here.

Very friendly helpful staff. Relaxed atmosphere. Lovely sitting near the lake, which is ideal for some fun on the water. Great site for families.
Will definitely go back.

Beautiful setting, lovely lake. Really enjoyed being able to take our paddle board out on the lake during our stay. Nice and clean facilities too. Being able to have a campfire in the lovely fire pits was also a bonus.

Would have been nice to have a few more toilets and/or somewhere to clean your teeth and wash/get ready. There were often queues for the toilets and only cold water so I did not want to take up one of only two toilets cleaning my face or teeth and generally getting ready.
