We decided to camp for 1 night only and although we booked for EHU we decided to camp without to be nearer to the river. We had the 2 dogs with us and they had plenty of space on the long leads. We have camped here several times and seen many changes but the river and the views remain the same. This is a peaceful site and I've never had a bad stay here.

Very easy going well maintained site.

No hot water for pot washing or a sink to wash your face and brushing teeth.

Beautiful scenery on the site and the surrounding area, easy access to Dolgellau, Barmouth and the Mawddach trail.

Constant noise from the diesel/petrol generator that was powering the electric hook ups in yhe middle of the field, ruining the peace that campers seek.

Plenty of space in the big field for tents, electric hookup if you need it. Basic and relaxed camping with the essentials provided - plenty of hot water in the showers. Friendly staff, quiet after dark and no rowdy groups. Firewood and old steel wheels are available for campfires at a reasonable cost, with matches and firelighters if you forgot to bring them.

Half an hour walk to the nearest town with a Co-Op and takeaways - closer to the Esso garage that has just had a revamp - it had both OS maps of the area and a breakfast cafe as well as all the essentials.

Great walks straight off the site and within half an hour of most things you would want to drive to in Snowdonia

Spent the weekend at Fronalchen campsite with 4 friends and we all really enjoyed our time there

Lots of great facilities such as hot showers, toilets and plenty of bins on site

Great location close to a petrol station, a shop and a Starbucks and not too far from where we was visiting

Absolutely spotless site with no rubbish/ litter anywhere on site

I have been camping at Fronalchen for a few years now, and I wouldn't camp anywhere else in this region.
The site is a back to basics campsite, which for me, at least is what camping is all about.
There are showers and toilets, an outdoor washing up area, an elsan disposal area, electric points, and a drinking water tap.
You choose your own pitch, and you are left to get on with it, although the owners are only a few minutes away if needed. The owners are friendly, helpful, and very accommodating.
The camping field is flat, well drained, although, being Wales, the entrance to the camping field can get a bit muddy at times with the rain. There is a river that runs alongside the field, which is perfect for the dogs, (and supervised kids), on those hot, summer days.
The views are spectacular!
It's the perfect place to relax and unwind, even though there is a Starbucks, and garage with a large shop just a ten minute walk away.
The little town of Dolgellau is also only a short drive, or a pleasant walk of around 30 minutes away.
I would 100% recommend this site and will continue to enjoy my visits here for years to come.

Incredible location, the views and river and beautiful. It wasn’t overcrowded so there was plenty of space between us and the next group.

Toilets were dirty, the unit blocked at one point so we couldn’t use them :(

Everything! Absolutely love this campsite!
We have been 4 times and already booked for are 5th trip,
This sites good for tents as we have never struggled with uneven pitches etc,
They are currently revamping the toilet blocks so have had temporary toilets and shower blocks there, the toilets were kept lovely and clean, constantly stocked with toilet paper, hand soaps, the showers were lovely and warm also kept clean,
The views from the campsite are stunning, and the star gazing of and evening is beautiful,
The owners and everyone who works there are all so lovely and very helpful,
We can’t wait to return in August and to return many more times, absolutely beautiful place to camp!
