Esholt Village

We stayed at this site over a weekend. It was extremely busy (although I'm not sure how, as everyone we spoke to complained about how horrendous the site was). Pitches don't really exist. You basically get the space your vehicle or tent takes up and someone else will be squeezed in beside you. We watched as the owner guided a van into a space about a metre away from the vehicle next to it, which meant that the couple could not sit outside of their van comfortably. Tent guide ropes were overlapping, causing a hazard. The amenities are lacking. The ladies' showers were freezing. People were washing pots, etc, in the ladies toilet area, which also only has one toilet. An aggressive couple arrived back at their tent at 2am singing and making a lot of noise, then proceeded to shout and swear at young children the next morning,  when they were hungover (although this is nothing to do with the camp site itself, just unpleasant). The same thug threatened to "sort" someone's dog out because it happened to bark. Several people arrived in the evening and left immediately the following morning, and from discussion with others, I can only assume this was over the lack of privacy and space on their "pitches". The site has WiFi which is only accessible in the clubhouse (which only opens on cricket match days).  While the view of the trees and surrounding area is lovely, staying here on a weekend is not something I'd advise; mid week might be better if you like to go right back to basics! The owner seems to be trying to maximise his returns by squeezing as many people onto the site as possible, even when it becomes unpleasant and a potential safety risk. I'm not sure that the price per "pitch" per night justifies what you actually get. Which is essentially a field and little else!

Great site, short stroll to the Woolpack and good bar at the cricket club. Facilities good but would benefit from another toilet or two. Well looked after on site

Esholt village

Toilet and shower blocks were poor
no access to internet unless you were in the clubhouse. Not enough space between pitches, crammed at the weekends only metres between tents and campervans. Overpriced by about £20 a night. Showers were rubbish and sensor lights in them kept going out. Only two toilets for the whole campsite. Chavs and feral kids running around one weekend throwing stones at campervans because they had nothing to do at night. Booked this site for a month but wish I could have got my money back after the first night. Very disappointed with the site, stayed on it six years ago when it was £10 a night with electric hook up and nothing has changed. Honestly don't know how it gets so full at weekends as most people said they wouldn't be back. Only good thing about this site is Esholt village just up the road.

Scenic views, nice local villages and great clubhouse at the sportsclub on site when open.

Toilet facilities not great for the price paid as there were very few toilets for size of site.

Plenty of space although the site was quite busy. Toilets were the Sports club toilets so were in a clean, dry brick building. Didn't use the showers but peeped in and they looked good. Village easy walking distance for a Pint at The Woolpack. Bus Stop in the club car park which is handy. Plenty room for kids to play if you bring them.

Check the arrival instructions before travelling because apparently one of the roads in has a height restriction which may affect your vehicle.

Brilliant venue, loads of brilliant sights around and plenty to chill out to. Would recommend 👌
