Avoid, Avoid, Avoid.
We stayed here from Friday - Monday as we usually stay at the nearby Camp Llandudno, which is amazing but was unfortunately fully booked.
Upon arrival we managed to eventually find the reception.. which is just an old static caravan. This isn’t sign listed or a thing, nor is anything on the site.
We chose a space on the open field. We had to choose wisely as the ground is uneven and covered in slate, rubbish and debris. Not ideal for pitching a tent.
After pitching our tent, we used the bathrooms for the first time. I don’t think I have ever seen anything so unkept, unhygienic and archaic in my life. We have visited many campsites over the years, and have seen some sights when it comes to facilities, but this was absolutely dire. The toilets are ancient, which if they were clean would be bearable, however, they were absolutely filthy. There was toilet paper throw every where, soaking wet floors, dirt, dust and spider webs everywhere, feces on the toilet, used sanitary towels and nappies in the cubicles.. the list goes on. Most of the cubicles were so dirty they were unusable, so there was often a long queue. Once you had used the filthy facilities, you couldn’t even wash your hands with hot water, it was luke warm, at best.
I understand that campers have to take responsibility for some of the state of the toilets, however, it was clear that these toilets hadn’t been properly cleaned in quite some time!! The mess from 4AM in the morning was still there at 6PM the NEXT day.
The toilets and shower block were completely separate. At least a 3 minute walk between the two with cars driving sound which wasn’t safe. We hoped that the showers were better, unfortunately we were wrong. The toilets were quite a walk from the main camping field, and the shower block was even further. The showers are unisex and people were queuing outside as there was only about 4. The one shower I used was dirty and old. It was a push button for water which lasted around 5 seconds and the light also kept going off. The window of the shower was open and there was a bush from outside growing through into the actual shower….
The ‘pot wash’ had no warm water, so washing pots meant you had to fill up and boil the kettle to clean them back at the tent. There is also no drinking water on the site..
There is absolutely no lighting on the site, so nighttime and evening toilet trips are tricky with a camping light. Daytime walks on the site are also tricky with cars and machinery squeezing down roads and blind corners with campers walking on them too, not to mention the owners dogs dangerously running loose. There are also horses being walked through the site, leaving mounds of horse poo where campers are walking.
If you want to charge your phone at ‘reception’ it’ll cost you £1 to leave it there with them and your own lead, and won’t even be fully charged when you get it back.
Curfew on the site is 11, however, before that we had people both sides of our tent blaring music at ridiculous volumes, and someone even setting off fireworks!!
If you are disabled, you wouldn’t be able to use this site, as none of the facilities are disabled user friendly (which I’m sure isn’t legal?!?!).
Anyway, by far the WORST campsite we have ever used. Staff just don’t seem to care and sit around in a caravan all day rather than ensuring things on the site are running smoothly and helping guests. Avoid at all costs. Use Camp Llandudno down the road which is like the ritz compared to this!!
