We were gobsmaked at the pitch up in the little village of Cawood. Tiny little village with ehu behind the pub. The gentleman on the bar at check in was lovely and all the staff, locals and dogs were so friendly.

Toilet block clean and large enough for the site.

Tea was delicious and again staff great.

Would highly recommend a visit.

I couldn’t take points off for this but maybe stones or paved footpaths around campsite area as could be quite muddy if there was a heavy rainfall. We know it gets muddy when wet but maybe just a bit better for visitors with children and dogs.

Very little.

The pub is probably the only good thing about this site. Although we did run into some problems one of the nights we stayed, our food order was wrong, then it came cold, then after sending back didn’t come out at all. However the second night was much better.
I would say this site is adults only. There’s nothing for kids to do. And to say they are dog friendly, there’s no where to take your dogs for a good run or walk around.
Personally won’t be be returning

If you are staying for the weekend got more than £5 electricity card. We arrived Friday, it ran out Friday night, there is no one available till 12pm the next day should you want another, therefore we had no electricity from 11pm Friday till 12pm Saturday.. someone should be available from the morning in my opinion.

It does say Wi-Fi available but only in the pub not on the site

Quiet. Good location and great pub with excellent food.

We weren’t told about all the facilities so didn’t discover the rubbish, washing up area until we left.

Quality food at the Castle

Bit muddy due to recent weather

The location was fabulous with easy access to York and The Castle Inn was welcoming with good food.

The campsite had a look of almost being forgotten about. The grass was long and none of the fallen leaves had been cleared. The border between hard standing and grass was hard to see due to the amount of leaves. The facilities block was in an awful state. The ladies had only one working toilet and the seat on that was hanging off. The gents had a blocked urinal that was full and the seat on the toilet was also hanging off. The Elsan point was also not good. The flush system was not working and it was unfortunately littered with debris from previous users. It was sad to see what could be such a lovely place so neglected and in such a poor condition. The site was quiet and peaceful until the weekend when the owners of the seasonally pitched caravans arrived and woke us numerous times during the night with shouting, laughing and slamming of car doors. In its current condition and the lack of any thought for other guests from the seasonal pitches it is not a site I would return to or recommend to anyone else.

Very friendly staff, went the extra mile to help out get us sorted! Great facilities, lovely and peaceful!

The grounds were lovely.
The restaurant / pub served good quality and tasty food.
The staff very welcoming.
Lovely location especially for Selby town.

The toilet blocks. Unfortunately there was only 1 ladies toilet cubical in use of which the seat was not fixed on securely. One of the male urinals was overflowing and the toilet seat was hanging of. Showers only last about 20 seconds per push!
Such a shame because if the toilet blocks were improved it would have got a 5 from us.

Antony and his staff were brilliant at there jobs, but his bosses will have to decide to improve their site facilities and whether they want to keep their customers in the future.

We were warned that the toilet block had issues and we were there 5 weeks ago and these issues hadn’t been fixed.
