Simply beautiful! This is the second time in a month we have stayed in this idyllic location. At first glance, it looks slightly overgrown in places but once you have pitched up and experienced the almost immediate peace and tranquility you will soon realise that this actually enhances the ambience and natural beauty of the site. We saw several hares, a pheasant and a young deer from the window of the motorhome within a few minutes of arrival!
Superlong pitches with plenty of space between and all have stunning views. There is no wifi, allowing you to spend quality time together - old-school style!
The toilet/shower facilities are spotless, warm and inviting with optional washing/drying machines for small fee. There is useful information on the notice board within the facility building. and a covered potwash area. Pitches have electric, water and grey waste - note - this is a grid near the water taps. There is a secure barrier at the entrance (some reviews have mentioned this has not been in operation but on the two occasions we have visited it has worked perfectly).
The available walks are stunning with woodlands and estuary options within a couple of minutes. If you are a geocacher, there are many caches along the estuary walk which is also a cycle and horse route with solid ground - perfect for dog walking. There is no shop on site, however, there is a Booths supermarket approx 5 mins drive away for any essentials, The Stork pub is a gentle stroll along the estuary path, with Gleeson Docks a little further along offering a cafe/deli and a pub. The Garden Centre very close to the site entrance has a cafe and serves ice-cream too if you miss the ice cream van which makes a site visit on Sunday afternoons.
The owner, Roger, is a true gent, offering invaluable advice on the surrounding area, which included being alert in the woodlands for ticks as we have two mini dachshunds with little legs. Please follow Roger's directions which are given before arrival and do not follow SatNav - Salford Road turns into a very narrow single track lane for several miles and you will get into a pickle if you travel down with motorhome or caravan and meet another vehicle.
Simply put - this is a hidden gem, if you want peace, tranquillity and love nature - this is the site for you!
