Fantastic holida, lovely family owned site A+++

  • Liked: It was a fantastic site, we where greeted by the owner who was very friendly and helpful made us feel right at home.

We hired a log fire pit and they even brought it down to us.

Excellent, clean facilities and other campers where friendly. Had a great beach and cliff walk at a stones throw.

We are planning on going back again later in the year! - Its very rare from the ones we have stayed at to have such positive, friendly people running it.

friendly, family camping

(Family with older children, 1 review)   Confirmed

  • Date stayed: Aug 2013
  • Recommend to friends   Visit again
  • Liked: We stayed at Chy Carne for a few days in August we our 3 teenage kids. The pitches were generous and not too crowded together. The other campers were really friendly and we found the facilities were great. We especially liked the onsite pizzeria where our freshly made pizzas were delivered directly to the tent!! Fantastic service. We all enjoyed the marquee bar where the drinks were reasonably priced and we could eat our take out food from the onsite takeaway cabin.

All in all, it was a relaxing and well organised place to stay. Very friendly and helpful staff, beautiful view, well managed site and I would definitely go back and recommend it to others.
  • Disliked: i didn't like having to pay for showers but I am a relative new comer to camping and this may be fairly standard?? I would prefer to pay more for the pitches and not have to rummage for change. Small bug bear that did not spoil our stay.

Lovely area but campsite very overcrowded !

(Young couple, 1 review)

  • Date stayed: Aug 2013
  • Recommend to friends   Visit again
  • Liked: The location was fantastic and the beach just down the road from the campsite was brilliant. The bar area was really good and the pizza place was brilliant serving fresh pizzas.
  • Disliked: Just to clarify I'm not one to normally complain. I read the negative reviews and thought that these people were probably expecting too much however I know exactly where their coming from.
When we arrived we were shown to one of the bottom fields and left right in the middle of the space and told to set up where ever we wanted. I did say to the man that I specified a flat, sheltered area (but we were on a very large slope in view of everyone) he told me that this was the only area left.
The showers are charged at 50p for 5minutes which is perfectly fine but it doesn't mention this on their website.
The next day we travelled to st Ives (would highly recommend) when we returned to the campsite we found another family had set their tent up right next to ours which meant there was no room for our car and we had absolutely no privacy. The family were very apologetic but there was no other space for them to go.
There was not enough space between each tent and most tents had fire pits.
On the second night half of the campsite were without electricity. When I spoke to a couple of other people they said its because there too many people using it at a time. Clearly the campsite was beyond full.
When I first looked at this campsite I noticed that it had the logo for the 'camping and caravan club' suggesting that campsite would be of a particular standard however when I contacted the CC club they confirmed that they have nothing to do with this campsite any more and were wrongfully displaying their logo.
The whole feel to the campsite was very money grabbing. I would definitely return to helston but not to that campsite.
From the manager...

We are delighted that you found our on site marquee bar and pizzeria to your liking. Kennack sands is a fantastic location and chycarne is located is a absolutely stunning location. The views from the park over looking Kennack sands are unrivaled. Now we appreciate that you might well not normally like to complain but it would have been much more appreciated that you first bring your concerns to reception at the time This would have at least given us the opportunity to address your issues and given us a opportunity to put them right. It is a little bit faceless when the first we become aware of your issues is through a review site like pitchup.com

Now it is important that all the facts are reported correctly

We like to operate Chycarne on a much more relaxed basis as we find that most of our visitors prefer this type of approach Now we are dammed either way but in our opinion our way is far better.and a vast majority of our visitors will agree with us

I am not sure i can agree with you regarding your and some other negative comments as many of the facts reported are factually incorrect and this is not my opinion but fact.

You report that we do not mention on our website that there is a small charge for showers This is incorrect and in fact it is mentioned a number of times throughout the site This gives us reason to believe that there is a possibility that your review might well be false.
The fact that you have scored us so lowly on so many factors also gives us reason to believe our suspicions are well founded like customer service.

Our pricing for camping is reflected in our tariff to off set the shower charge. The shower charge was introduced to prevent overstay in the showers. We are happy to report that the waiting time for a shower even a peak times is minimal or not at all.

Camping is our Kennack field is far less formal and allows campers to select a space suitable to their needs. This as been wholly successful However this year that situation as changed due to an explosion of larger tents. We are finding that not only are the tents getting much larger that other space is also required for cooking and even day tents are becoming a regular feature. This problem is going to require us to rethink our we approach the situation but for the 2014 season all pitches will be defined by markers and drainage ditches to all areas of the campsite This will prevent much of the complaints regarding spacing

Now you make mention that you requested a flat sheltered pitch when you booked However we are unable to trace your booking as we do not have your details to confirm this again a good reason to approach reception who would have been more than helpful to help you further but you would need to come to reception to do this Now where possible we will always do our very best to accommodate any requests but please if you leave your booking to the last minute then we may not be able to completely meet all your request but we would try.

Again i can not confirm either way regarding a fellow camper setting up next to you but again if you brought this to the attention of the reception staff at the time then we could have looked at rectifying the situation at the time as we can not guarantee that these campers did not move pitches whilst they were pitching.

You make mentioned regarding the electric whilst you were on site Now i must confess you really do need to understand all the points before you start to report a issue like this so that you do not get the facts wrong This summer we had three separate incidents regarding electrical failure Nome of them were related to any overloading but if the switches were overloaded then the electric hook up would trip and not the main switch
On two separate incidents a earth / neutral fault was detected and when this occurs the MCB will for safety trip in order to protect the cable. On both occasions the faults were traced to a faulty electric camping stove and a faulty cool box Once these items were removed no further problems were reported
The third incident was a failure of a Mcb in the main intake room The electric was restored with a replacement fuse within 10 minutes of its failure Not bad really

However your reporting of this again is a real mystery as you were not in any way affected by this as you were pitched in a non electric pitch in our Kennack field or we are meant to believe. The fact is the failure only affected 18 pitches and the main shower block This is hardly half the site as you report and this incident can occur at anytime if there is any weakness in the fuse
In our opinion maybe you should have reported how quickly the problem was rectified and as for asking others to give you an accurate assessment as to what the electrical problem was is a little nieve but what else can you report

Chycarne is a listed site with the CC and not a member site We do not report this in any other way But let me tell what the difference is.We do not choose to advertise with them and that is the only difference. We choose not to advertise with them as we find that their guidelines are far to stuffy Full of unreasonable regulations We like to operate a far more relaxed approach This allows you the customer to enjoy your stay with us without looking over your shoulders every 5 minutes waiting to have another rule barked at you but i must confess i do think some people are far better off in these types of parks but if you really want a peaceful relaxing holiday park in a fantastic location then Chycarne is ideal. but i do think it is really strange that you again would not come to reception with any issues and contact the CC instead when its us that can help you and not them that is really strange

Now there is no need to call us money grabbing as this really is a unacceptable swipe at all that work at Chycarne. In order for us to re invest we are required to make a profit We charge a very reasonable price in fact many of our visitors have suggested that we are the cheapest campsite in Cornwall. Just take a comparison of our tariff and compare and i think the facts will speak for themselves Our prices in all our facilities are very reasonable so i am again not really sure why you would make such a suggestion unless your motive was for different reasons other than a camper reporting on a campsite to which i can only conclude is the fact

Excellent service, staff and site!

  • Liked: Clean, well kept site. Great facilities including on site shop for essentials, hot food shack for snacks and hot drinks, a marquee bar selling good range of alcoholic drinks including local ales.
The shower blocks are cleaned on a regular basis and the 5 minutes, coin operated showers are a brilliant idea and lovely and hot. There is also a laundry room with washers and driers (great for drying out kit).
Beach is 10 minute walk away, some surfing and manned by life guards. Beach in next cove allows dogs, which was great as our two collies are proper water babies!! Campsite has a dog walking field at the bottom through a wooden gate.
Tent pitches are a good size, both non electric and electric. There are some gentle slopes in the site which create a natural wind break, and let's face it, more common than not on true camp sites, and most campers are prepared for this.
Staff at this site are extremely friendly and helpful. They put in full days making sure the site is kept clean, well trimmed and when available, give people their choice of pitch.
Good play area for kids which is next to the shower block so not too close to pitches!

  • Liked: We loved everything about Chy Carne, the scenery, the location, the food, the staff and anything else you can imagine.

We stayed at Chy Carne for 2 weeks, a lot of people warned me that camping for 2 weeks would get boring; they were wrong.
There are endless things to do while staying at the Chy Carne campsite, whether its going to the beach, going on a nature walk or even just chatting with the staff.

As said in the summary, Chy Carne is a place you must stay, it can be enjoyed by all ages and I'm not just saying that, during my stay there were people of all ages and all of them were having a good time.

Make sure you add Chy Carne on your list of places to visit.

Great campsite with excellent facilities.

  • Liked: Relaxed feeling, lively, busy campsite, but not too noisy. Excellent facilities including shop, pizza takeaway, bar and snack shack. We mostly barbecued or cooked for ourselves but the snack shack was great when we arrived after along journey with hungry kids - fantastic pasties!! The kids also enjoyed the swings and play equipment and the family of little bunnies which the kids could pet and hold.

The staff were friendly and helpful. The nearest beach was beautiful and only a 10 minute walk down the hill. We even had a sea view from our tent.
  • Disliked: You have to pay for the showers, hair dryers etc. The shelves for soap etc in the showers were held on to the wall with one central screw so if you didn't balance your shampoo perfectly the shelf tipped up and it fell on the floor. Nit-picky you may think, but my shower gel bottle smashed and everything was covered in soap. Grrrr! Whinge over. I actually loved the place.
From the manager...

Thank you for posting your comments. I will look into your comment regarding the soap dish holder and have a further fixing screw added to ensure that they do not twist. Improvements have already started and will be completed by season 2014 only further enhancing the campsite We look forward to seeing you again.

  • Liked: This our first visit to Cornwall and we cant wait to come again. Chy Carne was a brilliant site for our needs. The onsite shop was well stocked which came in handy for those forgotten things..! We enjoyed quiz nights in the Marquis and I enjoyed playing pool with my husband whilst our children (aged 5 and 14) enjoyed the play areas. The children made friends quickly and had huge water fights with other children and our teenage son learnt to play poo in the evenings with a group of similarly aged children. Shower and toilet facilities were kept amazingly clean for a campsite, even when the weather turned nasty. Washing up and laundry areas were clean and tidy. Staff were friendly and ready to help if required. The site was very pretty, very well maintained and the views lovely to wake up with. There is takeaway pizza onsite and they will deliver to your pitch, pizza was tasty and reasonably priced. There are other takeaways available in the snack shack which range from burgers in buns to mussels steamed in wine..! Chy carne is near many beauty spots like coves and beaches and also supermarkets and petrol stations so a good location. We would definitely recommend this site to others and will hopefully go again next year.

Thank you for leaving your comments We appreciate all comments providing they are constructive
We do not appreciate any comment that stereotypes any visitors despite their personal feelings or experiences We do not discriminate as this is unacceptable. We accept all visitors based on there own individual merits
We can not legislate, demand that visitors respect their fellow campers but hope that they do so
If visitors are a continued nuisance to other campers and cause alarm, distress and a persistent noise nuisance then we will take the appropriate action
As a small family business we continue to learn and have identified areas that we can improve on for the season 2014 These further improvements have come from our customer feedback

Improvements identified:
Noise curfew will be in effect from 10pm at all children play areas
We will request a noise reduction will be in effect from 11.30 pm through out the campsite this will include the playing of amplified music however with the exception of campfire conversation providing that it is not disturbing to neighboring campers.
All areas will be monitored by onsite Wardens
In addition to the existing waste management a further 16 large refuse bins will be added and additional recycling bins.
Additional two toilet blocks and a showers to the lower camping fields.
Additional two washing up stations
Permanent employment of toilet and shower block attendants/cleaners during the summer six weeks holidays from 8am to 12 noon and 4pm to 9pm
All pitches to be clearly marked out in all areas to define all pitch boundaries
All tents before pitching will be required to ensure that that are suitable for the pitch
No arrivals will be permitted before the appropriate pitching time of 2pm

All in all these changes and additions should resolve any problems that have occurred throughout this summer season 2013 and please feel free to let us know what you think but please be constructive unlike some recent reviewers that think its better to be insulting offensive without even remotely taking into consideration that its not always the campsites to blame but its just easier to blame them,,write a load of untruths and never once approaching reception with their issues The first you hear of it is on forums, reviews like this one and Tripadvisor but i can say that these opinions are a very, very small minority in comparison to the many visitors to Chycarne

Thank you for your positive feedback and look forward to your next visit Please support us by giving us the thumbs up

First camping holiday at Chycarne

(Family with young children, 1 review)

  • Date stayed: Aug 2013
  • Recommend to friends   Visit again
  • Liked: We stayed here for the first time last week, all I can say is thank you so much for a fantastic holiday. We felt welcomed from the minute we walked into reception, we were shown to our pitch, I did ask if I could have another pitch as the one we were given was too close to the road and I was worried that my young toddler may wonder near it, after five minutes or so we were taken to another pitch which I felt more suitable for my family. I couldn't fault anything, all the staff were polite and helpful, nothing was to much trouble, we even had a pizza delivered to our tent which I found brilliant as I've never had that service on any other campsite we've stayed on, As for the toilets and showers, I thought they were fine considering the amount of people using them and how busy the campsite was, they were cleaned regularly and as far as I'm concerned you can't asked for much more, even if the cleaner was there 24 hrs it wouldn't be enough for some people. As for the evenings, yes some people were sat outside their tents chatting till the small hours, but isn't that what a summer evening on holidays about? But on the whole the site went quiet around 11 ish even the dogs were sleeping cos I didn't hear barking , as for people returning to their tents late at night, it's not a prison camp, everyone can come and go as they please on this campsite and all the other campsites ive stayed on, how pathetic must you be to nit pick about that. We had a few good nights in the bar, played bingo and took part in the quiz, real family fun, next to the bar was a snack shack which sold burgers and chips etc. the older kids enjoyed the freedom of going to the site shop to buy sweets, the shop was well stocked and anything else they didn't sell you could go to the choice of two supermarkets about five miles away, CHAV, I've found that deeply offensive, how dare someone who I don't think even stayed on the same campsite as me from reading the review they left stereotype us all as CHAVS, I met a lot of lovely fellow campers during my stay and I'm sure like me they will find it offensive too. To all the helpful staff at Chycarne, keep up the good work, it's a brilliant campsite with a great family atmosphere, can't wait to return next year, will be booking a two week stay in 2014!!!
  • Disliked: Not booking longer holiday,

Thank you for taking the time to leave your customer feed back

We are delighted that we met with your expectations and you enjoyed your stay with us

It is sad when as owners you put your heart and soul into your business and along comes a jostephenson to abuse, offend and insult everybody and every establishment that she frequents, she clearly does not understand the boundaries when it comes to writing comments within the public domain. I would have thought from such a mature woman you could expect some wisdom but i guess this might be asking to much from her as I have taken the time to read other reviews she has made and its all pretty much the same reading. Take the time to read them and i think you will get the picture. (tripadvisor)

I can not stand aside in matters like this as a owner as i really care about my business and my customers. Comments like the racist name calling that as been removed for legal reasons could help this lady into court as her comment is wholly unacceptable To stereotype all the good people in this way demonstrates what type of individual she is and trust me it not just us that she as abused.
Of course in order to report any review as bogus you need to understand the definition of what bogus means. It means to report an untruth, phoney, to deceive or mislead. I do agree that negative reviewers are entitled to their opinions but they must when making their statements stick to the facts. and not attempt to report on things that are untrue or misleading in an attempt to deceive the reader If i feel that a item or issue as been incorrectly reported then i will correct it with the truth and if a comment as been made that i agree with then i will report it in this way. But i will not do nothing, i will look at the options and attempt to change, alter for the better of all concerned.

The one and only one comment i will agree with her is regarding the shower block ceilings. Every day they are wiped down but they are on the whole wet rooms and are lit which will attract flying insects to fly into the blocks through open windows and doors. As the ceiling become wet with condensation the small flying insects stick to the water particles on the ceiling This does not mean that the showers are dirty but just a inconvenience to the cleaner. You must appreciate that there are absolutely billions of small flying insects to deal with The only other option is to close all the windows and doors Maybe this is the answer but there is no mould as she as reported and these summer shower blocks are less than three years old and are redecorated every year and are open only for the six weeks holidays and are closed from the 1st September. However as concerned owners we have decided that to improve customer well being and will introduce for the summer season 2014 attendants that will man the facilities from 8am to 12 noon and then 4pm to 9pm This is an attempt to eradicate further concerns that our facilities are not kept clean and functional during busier peak periods. I hope this will be reviewed positively and will demonstrate that we are concerned owners and are thoughtful to our customer needs

Thank you and we look forward to your visit next year to the more improved Chycarne

Avoid!

(Family with young children, 1 review)

  • Date stayed: Jul 2013
  • Recommend to friends   Visit again
  • Liked: The View and nothing else
  • Disliked: I'm guessing the site owners will try and rate this review as bogus like they have for other bad reviews but it is down to the reader to decide for themselves.
After reading negative reviews elsewhere I thought that some seemed a little extreme and came to the conclusion that there are people who would moan about the slightest thing....WRONG. They were 100 per cent accurate.
Arrival. . .The reception consisted of 2 women on a laptop in a shop which was expensive and poorly equipped.
Pitch. . .We were shown to our pitch and in spite of requesting a level area when we booked (as we had 2 and 3 year olds) we were allocated a sloping area of grass. Whilst being attacked by swarms of wasps we managed to erect the tent, and although in previous responses to reviews ChyCarne have said there is nothing they can do about the wasps. . .there is. . .it’s called pest control! The field sloped so much that the table we bought was impossible to use and collapsed underneath us, and looking around at other campers they were all having the same problem! The first night was spent in the car because I just slid down into the side of the tent.
There was no thought put into the type of groups that were camping...families were mixed with drunken young people shouting into the early hours...no noise control and no security. No restrictions on cars driving around at night, we could hear engines revving at 1am. As there is no lighting in the fields this is very dangerous at night when camping with children.
If you like crufts you will feel at home here...I have never seen so many dogs in all my life...they mess where young children play and we had to sit through a chorus of barking; there was an aggressive dog opposite us that barked at everybody who walked past and dogs off their leads sniffing around our tent and trying to eat our food! The park consisted of a small pirate ship with a puddle of mud waiting at the bottom of the slide and 2 swings and a crows nest swing... all the kids were fighting for space.
Shower Blocks. ..I have never come out of a shower feeling dirtier than when I went in!!! Absolutely disgusting! Also in previous responses to reviews ChyCarne have stated they are cleaned throughout the day. . . rubbish! Even if they are it is not enough when you think about the amount of campers using those showers (only 3 showers for 2 fields of campers). There was grass and mud all over the floors and splattered bugs and mould on the ceilings of the showers which have obviously never been wiped off. You have to pay 50p for 5 minutes and 10p for each minute after that to use the shower. This may just about be acceptable if it wasn’t for the fact that you have to push the button in every 10 seconds which loses valuable shower time, and you can’t just hold it in as it won’t work if you do this.
Charging facilities. . .This consists of leaving your phone on charge behind the desk out in the open with one person watching it and the rest of the shop at the same time. Very unsecure and not at all good enough.
Hair drying. . .You have to pay 50p for 5 minutes to use the plug sockets, we did not know this as when we asked how long you get for 50p none of the people who worked there knew the answer and said they would get back to us. . . never did! We found out for ourselves when we used it.
Food and drink. . .Their shop is an absolute joke! The only food they sell is bacon and sausages which they had ran out of when we went to buy some. They had sold out of wipes. They don’t have a cash machine and you have to spend £10 to use your card or a 50p charge on top. We bought a gas canister for our camping stove and we used it twice before it ran out. They have a food shack which is only open for a couple of hours in the morning and closed all day until the evening which sells over fried crap which I’m not sure was even food! When we went to buy a cup of tea in the morning when the shack should have been open it was closed for a deep c

No you are wrong we would not make any attempt to try to suggest that this review is bogus

How could we, because you are so right 100% It is clear to all. Tell the world, shout it from the roof tops. What a joke This is not a review but a unjustified, unreasonable set of unrealistic comments and a cheap swipe at a hard working family and a popular campsite with the sole intent to damage our good name, thankfully this is only your opinion

We have for legal reasons asked pitchup.com to modify this review To remove racist slurs that would be considered offensive to other visitors past, present and future These type of slurs will see this woman at some point in court if she is not careful.

I would like to clarify a point. In order to report a review as bogus you need to understand what the definition of bogus means What it means is untruths, phoney, to deceive to mislead so when we are having to sit through and read comments that are factually untrue or are false or not accurate we feel compelled to correct it to ensure that the reader as both point of views. We are not out to deceive our customers and it is foolish for anybody to think or suggest that we are. There are statements like in this review that are simply unreasonable and we naturally feel we are left to defend ourselves for example: On a busy day we can sell many items in the shop We naturally keep a small supply but generally we will have up to 10 cartons of baby wipes available to buy but we can not determine how many we are going to sell within a given moment let alone in a day or a few days until we have the next opportunity to go to the wholesalers to replace the sold stock Then to blame us because she ran out is quite frankly double standards it is not our fault that she ran out and that other customers choose to buy baby wipes leaving us with no stock
. We have a daily visit from our supplier for milk, bread, bacon and sausages, eggs, cheese and many other perishable items There is plenty of stock in the morning and throughout the day. But once again we can not determine how much we are are going to sell and at some point we may well run out of certain items until the following morning, but surely that`s the way it is ,so i can not begin to see why this woman can in any way blame us for doing what a shop is meant to do and that is to sell, what it as to sell. Strange that

And then there is the charging facility as she puts it. Wrong we do offer this as a service, but are asked by some visitors if we would charge their phone. We have no objections to this request
We do not charge for obliging our customers in this way. But if we was to charge, then i think it would be fair to say that they would need to be secured into a charging booth but as we don`t and its not a service that we offer, again for the life of me, if you feel that your phone is some way is not secure then best advise don`t leave it.

And then there is mother nature, not ants this time in Greece or seagulls to contend with ( see other bad reviews written by this woman on tripadvisor )

So how on the life of me, can we be somehow responsible if mother nature ( wasps) decides to attack this women and only this woman in the middle of a field surrounded by fellow campers and then suggest that in some way that its a lack of pest control is clearly bonkers. If there is a nest on site then clearly we would work to remove it, but i am not aware of any and none have been reported.

I could continue, but you know what life is too short and these comments are just unreasonable and unjustified swipe at us. At anytime this visitor could have come to reception with all these points, problems and we could have worked to resolve many of them without to much fuss but that would require her to be reasonable Not likely

Friendly site in a great location - we will be back!

(Family with young children, 1 review)

  • Date stayed: Aug 2013
  • Recommend to friends   Visit again
  • Liked: All of the staff at Chy Carne are friendly and helpful. Nothing is too much trouble and the facilities are kept spotless. The site was perfect for our three year old who loved making new friends on the pirate ship. Although we didn't end up having a pizza delivered to our tent we thought it was a great idea and they looked lovely. The snack bar is run by a lovely couple and the food is cooked to a high standard. I loved the fact it includes some healthy options such as a tuna steak in pitta bread with salad - (the tuna was enormous too) - yum! The location is wonderful and Kennack Sands is perfect for small children as there are life guards, a shallow gradient into the water, rock pools and it is not too big so easy to keep track of them.
  • Disliked: I could nit-pick but why bother when they obviously go out of their way to provide a great site?

I spacious campsite reasonably near the the sea.

(Family with young children, 1 review)

  • Date stayed: Aug 2013
  • Recommend to friends   Visit again
  • Liked: The site was easy to find. It was big enough to not feel too cramped and had benches by some pitches. Staff were helpful and the site was receiving regular maintenance. The site was reasonably near the sea. There was a bar with drinks at reasonable prices. It had a quiz night twice a week which we went to.
  • Disliked: The site had a lack of facilities. Only two toilet blocks in the whole site which we found surprising as they were always busy. Also the showers you had to pay for and werent great The one nearest us was also very small with only 3 cubicles. The bins could have been emptied more frequently. It was a shame there was no games room for the kids as there were some rainy days.
My wife found the sloping hill were designated difficult for sleeping and cooking.
From the manager...

We appreciate that you have taken the time to leave your comments good or bad I suppose we are a little frustrated at some of your comments.

There are only two toilet blocks at chycarne: This is incorrect there are in fact four toilet blocks situated in two different areas They are separated by a short walk Of course we will never have enough toilets if everybody simply wants to spend a penny at the same time.

We will be adding a further two toilet blocks for the 2014 summer as well as two washing up stations

I have been on site all summer and i totally disagree with you regarding your comment The toilets for the vast majority of times are unused. Of course at peak times this can change but this would be expected.

The showers you have to pay for: We reflect the charge for the showers in our tariff Camping at chycarne offers real value for money Just shop around and compare our tariff against other sites and you will see the difference The charge was introduced to reduce waiting time. What do you want from the showers We are sorry that there are not any gold taps but the water is hot We provide hair and body soap some think you don`t find in all other campsites. The showers are tiled There is a seat /shower curtain and they are cleaned regular The water pressure is regulated at nine litres per minute and the water is pumped by our own high performance speed pumps and the water is drawn fresh from our own spring below the ground and contains no chemicals. whats better than that, Just good clean Cornish water so i find your comment the showers were not great to be out of touch There are two shower blocks ( 16 showers ) on site You can use either one but i have not experience any complaints of excessive waiting so again i am not really sure what you are trying to say And the summer shower block contains three male and three female shower cubicles

Waste refuse is dealt with through out the day Your suggestion that the bins should be emptied more frequently is unrealistic The private contractors only will collect the waste refuse once a week We have tried to have the waste collected more frequently but to no avail This is due to our site location But we do work to remove the waste as quickly as possible

Your suggestion that there was no games room for your kids. Chycarne is a smaller campsite and the costs involved in providing such a thing are unrealistic If these type of items you are seeking then clearly you need to book your holidays with sites that offer this Of course you will pay more whether you use them or not as it all costs money to build to kit out and to employ more staff to maintain them, but there are many indoor attractions to visit when the sun decides, not to shine.

Happy Camping Chycarne

There are many level camping pitches on site and many of the sloping pitches are gentle but of course to many this is never really a problem and can cope more than easily But to some its a real problem I can only encourage you to book earlier and request a level pitch when you venture out on your next camping holiday

The food shack sells delicious food at a very reasonable price. It is such a nice touch that the pizza's are delivered to your tent. Our pitch size was great and the site accommodated for friends arriving on different dates so we could all be together.
We were at the bottom of Kennack field and it seemed to be more peaceful and quiet there but a bit of a trek up hill to the toilet blocks. They were kept clean and the showers were lovely, always hot and very rarely had to wait.

A lovely relaxed site great location

(Family with young children, 1 review)

  • Date stayed: Aug 2013
  • Recommend to friends   Visit again
  • Liked: A relaxed atmosphere of the site really helped to make our first time camping a success. We never had to queue for showers or the toilet. The shop is well stocked and not overly expensive. The location is great close to the beach. A friendly crowd on site too.
  • Disliked: Only two washing machines for the whole site one of which didnt work so when my son was sick I had to wash his blanket by hand then had to spend £6 on the dryer for one item as 20 mins at top heat wasn't enough to dry a small thin comfort blanket. The toilets often ran out of hand soap.
From the manager...

Thank you for leaving your comments and are delighted that you enjoyed your stay with us

On chycarne we do have a very relaxed approach which suits an awful lot of campers, families
If you are somebody that likes the rule books then please do not look to stay at chycarne during the six weeks holidays If you do not like to see children playing and having fun then do not book to stay here during the six weeks holidays As you will not probably enjoy your stay here Any other time "perfect"

I agree as i have been around the site entering all the facility buildings i have not seen one queue not one single queue for showers or toilets We continue to check them through out the day for cleanliness and i must confess i have not found any to be unclean On a few occasions i have found empty discarded shower bottles and unused toilet roll on the floor but that is soon addressed
2014 will see a further two toilet blocks added and a further two dish washing station only further improving our onsite facilities

We do only have two washing machines on site Please understand that these machines are seriously expensive costing in the region of £4500.00 each and then they come with a very expensive maintenance contract in fact we do not earn a single penny from both our washing machines and driers and the real truth is that they cost us money to have But then this is a part of the service win and lose By adding further machines would be unaffordable and would result in the price to rise quite considerably And of course we are only at this level of capacity for the six weeks summer holidays and come the 1st September Nothing
Of course i can not explain why your item did not dry in the allocated time I can only think that the item was placed into the drier completely saturated and required to be spun to remove the excess water the only other option is that the air filter was blocked thus creating a wetter environment inside the drum either way i do agree with you that this is very expensive and hope that you reported it to reception and was given a partial refund

I have checked with the cleaners and they have not reported to me that there is any shortage of liquid hand soap I can only put this down to more than average amount of people are cleaning there hands more frequently which is a positive to preventing the spread of those little critters causing us so much discomfort But i have mentioned it to the cleaners and they will check the dispensers more frequently

Thank you for your constructive points they have been very useful We thank you for your positiveness and wished that all reviewers looked at being positive and helpful in their feedback so we can improve our service and facilities.

Thank you Brian chycarne

the kids liked the park and the rabbits (thanks to big Alfie and co ive now got to buy my own rabbits to keep the kids quiet). bar tent was pretty cool. pizza place and snack bar on site are really nice. toilets were clean aswell.
all the staff were very friendly and helpful.
  • Disliked: in peak season sometimes the tent pitches are a little close.
also in parts of the camp you can get a bit of a sewage smell, seen a few people moving their tents as a result but we were quite lucky.
From the manager...

Thank you for leaving your review We do read all the reviews and use the information as a source of feedback.

We note your comment regarding the closeness of other tents and we will look into this We are finding that tents are just getting to big and this is compounded that some visitors are not selecting a pitch that is big enough to accommodate all there items We only find out what they have on arrival despite our efforts to establish what each customer is bringing This as only been recently added to bookings made through pitchup.com This will help us no end to select What is the best pitch to accommodate each customers unit. and ensure that there is adequate space

As i have previously mentioned Chycarne not only produced its own fresh water from our underground spring but we also process all our own waste water We have a number of reed beds and these work naturally to clean the water before it enters the stream On occasion if the weather has been wet the process can be slightly affected This can lead to a slight smell situated in and around a few of the lower pitches on our Kennack field What equally adds to this problem is the amount of cleaning products being flushed in to the system This kills all the good bacteria and thus we are at a catch 22 until all the good bacteria can re-establish its self the process can take longer We have invited in at the end of this season Alco who are our waste management Environmental engineers to look at the situation and work forward with a plan to eradicate this nuisance but please be assured that it only slight and not always apparent but we are listening and every effort will be to put the situation right

Thank you for your feed back Brian chycarne

  • Liked: Well where to start, 2 small children and 2 teenagers, a great time was had by all, the site its self was great, everything was lovely and clean, very well organised, we had a great level pitch (no water logging) even after the worst rain in 13yrs according to the manager, weather the first week wasnt great but that is no ones fault and water drained very quickly. The facilities were great, the shop had most things you would run out of and cant do without, also the camping stuff available on site was extensive and reasonably priced, the snack shack was a huge bonus when you just cant be bothered to cook after a long day out, my husband enjoyed the beer tent of an evening, there was quiz night and sports days all organised by the very busy staff, we were there for 11 nights and will be booking again for next year, the site is very well sited for so many beaches and other things to do as well, I would also like to say that everyone of the staff were so lovely, friendly and helpful over everything, even things not related to the site ( thanks guys for storing my daughters birthday cake in your fridge so it wouldnt melt x

  • Liked: Staff were friendly. Able to book chimineas that were delivered to your tent with logs. Clean toilets and shower blocks. Dog friendly.
  • Disliked: Few toilets for size of campsites.
Every evening there was a strong smell of sewage in our field, that sometimes lasted through the night.
From the manager...

Thank you for leaving your recent comments we are delighted that you enjoyed your stay with us

Chycarne is a a campsite that allows campfires provided that they are contained Camping would not be camping unless you can have a fire and especially with roasted marshmallows "Yummy"

For 2013 we have replaced the two old toilets with purpose built toilet blocks adding a further three toilets to the summer camping area This as gone a long way to easing any queuing.

For 2014 we will be adding a further two toilet blocks ( 6 toilets )to the lower camping area and further two washing up stations (4 sinks ) This will give us the total coverage that we require

With regards to the smell of sewage located very near is our set of environmental reed beds that is working to clean the water as it passes through Sadly the water must go some where. It is very rare to find any campsite that is on mains sewage This is a part of our commitment to be as sustainable as possible Sometimes it can be slightly stronger if we have had prolonged rain as this tends to pass the water through the system a lot quicker. To many its a part of being in the country Today i have been to check and there is no associated smell attached to the water plant

We look forward to seeing you again Hopefully not to far in the future

Kind regards Brian chycarne

Very enjoyable holiday

  • Liked: Friendly, helpful staff. Clean and tidy. Beautiful views, great location. Dog friendly, with a separate dog walking field.
  • Disliked: Small play area, at the height of the summer season, I felt there was not enough equipment for the children to enjoy, maybe a few more swings or slides would be useful. Paying for showers, I felt that maybe having the charge already paid with the total balance would be useful and avoid having to get change regularly.
From the manager...

Thank you for taking the time to leave your comments

Trying to get the balance right with children`s play equipment can be quite tricky Commercial grade equipment is seriously expensive for example a small commercial climbing frame can cost up to £30.000 pounds and this is without the safety mating and fencing As a small family business we are just unable to justify this type of cost at present whilst many other improvements are taking place on site with other facilities but we are listening and will look at what options are open to us

Showers We introduced the charge following a number of complaints due to overstay We looked at ways to reduce the time each person was taking in each shower but was unable to find an alternative solution. Since we introduced the charge queuing as virtually disappeared and is very rare proving that this is the best option. To deflect the charge we immediately reduced our camping tariff to reflect the charge It as been suggested by a previous reviewer about installing a change machine This is a really a great idea and we will look to install one for next season The only question is where to install it as they are quite expensive

Thank you

Thank you for taking the time to leave your comments

Currently all the shower coin meters will accept coins from 10p to £2 But i think you are right there seems to be some coins that will pass through the machines with out it registering Really frustrating i know but i have spoken with the machine suppliers and they claim that its the coins and not the machine is at fault. I will continue to scratch my head with this one but i`m sure there is a solution somewhere

  • Liked: A great site, with plenty of facilities. The views where lovely. Very easy site to find and local to most areas.
  • Disliked: Could do with some more hard surface parking near to tenting area, as cars got bogged down when there was a lot of heavy rain.
From the manager...

Thank you for your review We are pleased that you enjoyed your stay with us

Unfortunately we had experienced some long prolonged rain as well as some torrential rain that changed the ground conditions considerably. Causing us to changed the pitch plan to suit each type of vehicle as they arrive putting vehicles better suited at the top of the camping field This as prevented the ground from being torn up and reduced the on site problems that may occur if vehicles unable to move in the wet conditions. Thank fully this as only lasted for a short while and all is back to the original pitch plan and ground conditions are hard and stable and vehicles are moving unassisted throughout the park
On the whole most visitors accepted that action was required but there was a few that we could not please despite our efforts. Your suggestion of a hard surface area near the tenting area is under consideration and thank you for the suggestion as its a real positive suggestion like many of the changes we have made at Chycarne have come through visitor suggestions

Thank you Chycarne

During the summer school holidays Chycarne is a popular campsite with many visitors There are many reasons why is the site is often full and we do encourage visitors to book early. On the whole Chycarne offers excellent value for money. We have invested back into the campsite year on year. Our facilities are top notch and with a further two toilet blocks and two washing up stations being added throughout this winter will only further improve the site and help us reduce any waiting times as they occur

The Big Daddy’s Pizza shop sold amazing Pizzas, as well as the Snack Shack which sold delicious, varied and reasonably priced food from Burgers to fresh prawns.

The reception / shop was so useful (especially if you forget anything like us) and the showers and toilets were always cleaned, bright and early! Rubbish on site was always emptied, and the quizzes and bingo was so much fun on the evenings!

    Great sized pitches too!

    Top Marks!

  • Disliked: I think the Snack Shack should stay open later for breakfast (shuts at 10am), but that's only cause I like a bit of a lie-in.

  • Liked: The beaches, the cliff tops were amazing. We could not get enough of the beautiful view. The water was incredible, wish we went in it.

  • Disliked: We didnt have much spending money so couldnt do much. Unfortunatly you had to pay for shower which was a bit steep, we paid for 48 hours of wi fi and that didnt work.
From the manager...

Thank you for your recent visit The views from the campsite are spectacular and the water is very inviting especially on a hot summers day.

Your comments regarding the Wifi is noted The Wifi on the park is maintained and supplied by a third party "Club Wifi" We are not aware of any difficulties in connecting to the network This is not to say that you did not have any problems but more to say that reception is always available up to 10 pm every day to help all customers with any problems that they may have.

The charge for showers was introduced a number of years ago following numerous customer complaints and consultation regarding over stay in the showers Since the introduction queues have fallen sharply resulting in no queuing or a very short wait To deflect the charge for showers we immediately reduced our camping tariff to reflect this charge Since 2011 our prices have remained at there current level Frozen despite increasing costs to our business all our prices remained unchanged from 2012 and in some cases have been reduced as we find ways to save more money we pass these cuts on to the our customers enabling us to offer excellent value for money.

Thank you and wish you further "happy camping" Best wishes Brian chycarne

  • Liked: A nice site generally. Close enough to all the relevant amenities on the Lizard. Pitches were sloping but we coped well enough with this as we were towards the higher end of the slope. There was much bemoaning about the cleanliness of the toilets and showers in other reviews before we went and to be fair they weren't bad at all. I saw them being regularly cleaned every morning and grass is bound to be taken in. It's a campsite for goodness sake! If it bothers you buy a pair of flip flops that you don't have to take off! Didn't eat from the pizza place or the snack shack so not sure what they were like. The staff were helpful and friendly, particularly as this was a very busy time of the year for the site.

There was some grumblings about the bins being overflowing but when I spoke to one of the staff he explained that their waste contractors had failed to appear on the Wednesday which led to severe problems for them as they couldn't find anyone else to empty them for another 5 days. They did everything possible to find a solution like adding smaller bins and physically climbing in them to make more room. But still folk grumbled.

When we first arrived the site was really full but we did find a space and despite having some reservations at first we thoroughly enjoyed our time at Chy Carne. This is a lovely part of the county and well worth a visit. I just don't understand people who constantly whinge about camp sites. If they go expecting everything to be like it is in a hotel then clearly they've booked the wrong type of holiday.
  • Disliked: My only additional point would be I would have liked a bit more choice in the shop as there wasn't a lot of things to buy to cook and although there are supermarkets in Helston it is a 30 min round trip if you've forgotten anything. Other than that we really liked this site! Thanks
From the manager...

Thank you for taking the time to add your thoughts to our ever growing numbers of reviews

Since supermarkets began there home delivery service stocking the items you mention is very difficult as we can not seem to sell enough of them, We have tried but have been left with too many to mention. But we are always looking at ways to further improve our site and services and will will continue to explore different avenues Hopefully we will find a solution.

Its been great on site as we have had Warrick davis The Actor on site doing a documentary on Chy carne and The Great Cornish holidays to be screened next May 2014 ITV But the atmosphere has been like a festival with great weather and very happy campers, BBq`s campfires galore "I do love the smell of burning logs and marshmellows"

Hope to see you again Best wishes Brian chycarne

Showers and toilets were very clean with lovely hot water. Love the beer tent only used once but it is a nice touch. the sea view is beautiful to wake up to. there is a great field where we took our dog everyday for a run around she loved it.nice walk down to the beach but tough walking back up keeps you fit. i have never stayed at such a friendly site before you thank you so much for a lovely holiday

Lovely spot and good onsite amenities

  • Liked: Hiring the chimneas was a lovely idea and that they brought it and took it away from the pitch was very helpful. The staff were very helpful and friendly, particularly in guiding us to our pitch when we arrived and giving us advice with a troublesome tent. The pub quiz, run by staff, was great fun too and the showers, toilets and wash blocks were very clean. It was especially handy that there were two shower/ loo/ wash blocks onsite as having two small kids it would've been a bit of a trek to the ones at the entrance.
The shop was well stocked with anything you could possibly think you'd need and was open from 8am til 10pm.

Our favourite experience was by far going to the local village of Cadgwith, On Weds the BBQ what they have been out and caught that day. It''s open to visitors and a is well worth the trip but be warned it gets busy so get there before the 6pm start. There is a car park if you go through the village abd tgere's a lovely walk down into the village, though not pushchair friendly. If you miss the BBQ then head to the Cadgwith Cove Inn for a friendly welcome, excellent freshly caught seafood and if you are really lucky the Cadgwith Singers striking up a sea shanty or two... truly fantastic experience.
  • Disliked: It's a shame that the pirate playboat is situated right next to the entrance road as small children who are not necessarily road safety aware were unable to be let to just go and play on it and I wondered whether relocating it to next to the marquee inn would be a better idea as parents could enjoy a drink whilst being a able to keep a watchful eye on little ones and know they weren't going to be attempting to cross a fairly busy driveway. I was not aware before our arrival that you needed to pay for the showers and although I was quite happy to do so I thought maybe a change machine would be a good idea for the future.
The location is very remote and we were told it was a 15 min walk down to the beach, I would say it was more like 25mins and it's a steep hill back up.
It is a very popular site so be warned it can get a little noisy in the evenings
From the manager...

Thank you for leaving your review

Your suggestion of moving the pirate ship is a good suggestion but of course we do ask that all children are supervised whilst using any of the equipment onsite Naturally there is always movement on site of motor vehicles coming and going This section does have marker posts and chains but i do think some larger signs and the introduction of speed bumps would be equally a first step but the point is a good one

You took the thought completely out of my mind We are already looking into both a cash machine and change machine and agree totally with you.
Information regarding our charges for showers in available on our website The charge was introduced to reduce overstay in the showers To reflect this charge we reduced the camping tariff and have held it at its current level for two years Camping at chycarne offers great value for money of course we require to make a profit in order that we can re- invest in updating and adding to our facilities. We are happy to report as confirmed by many of the reviews that queuing for showers is rare even at peak times so a positive move well received by most

Walking to the beach should only take at the most 10 minutes This may not be the case for you but to many this is. Coming back up can take longer but this is why Chycarne as been blessed with its fantastic coastal views. I suppose to many its a fair trade off. But once at Kennack sands the fun begins One of the cleanest beaches in the UK sandy and fantastic for the young ones at low tide with the numerous rock pools waiting to be discovered. A massive hit for body boarders and surfers Or just plain old sunbathing and its sandy Fantastic

Chycarne is becoming a popular site in the summer holidays For many very good reasons
But outside of the main six weeks chycarne is very much a different park with much fewer visitors .So if you like your camping experience to be a much quieter affair This is the best time to visit

Thank you again for your suggestions Chycarne

Excellent Choice

(Solo traveller-female, 1 review)   Confirmed

  • Liked: The staff were really friendly and helpful. The pizza was delicious, homemade. The toilets and showers were extremely clean. I found the checking in process extremely effective, a guy on a small engine showed me where the pitch was and marked out the boundaries with yellow spray.
  • Disliked: Not applicable.
From the manager...

Thank you for leaving your comments Its amazing how they can contrast from one visitor to another We work very hard at Chycarne to create the right camping environment by not having to much but enough, Of course the weather always makes a difference. More rain, more moans, it certainly appears that way anyway. Sadly we can not predict the weather and sadly the rain can effect the ground conditions in sustained wet periods. We therefore have to make decisions on pitching as visitors arrive instead of putting our heads in the sand we try to accommodate the best we can. If only it was sunny every day and hot ,life would be so blissful
.
Of course camping facilities are operated on a shared basis sadly we do not have any en-suite facilities for each camper but we do have :
Two shower blocks These two blocks are a matter of 2 minutes from each other There are also 4 toilet blocks (with a further two planned for 2014) again a matter of 2 minutes from each other split between the park. They are both cleaned constantly through the day and evening. Closed completely three times a week for a deep clean just to ensure that there are no little bugs lerking about .Situated in our main block is both a male and female family shower room and in the ladies is a baby changing unit. But of course there is never enough if everybody decides to make a visit at the same time Provided in our on site launderette are two commercial washing machines and two industrial dryers 4 washing up sinks and a whole abundance of literature on places to visit both locally and further afield or on our website is a whole section on things to do or if that is not enough there is reception.

Chycarne is situated within an area of outstanding natural beauty overlooking the rugged Cornish coast We do not wish to splatter our beautiful campsite with tarmac road and street lights.
On site we have well in excess of 70 level pitches and in addition to these there are some are on a slight slope but of course many of these pitches have stunning sea views If all the pitches were flat not only would many lose the sea views but we have all been there in wetter weather these pitches will and tend to become water logged much quicker especially if the ground as become saturated. Of course pitching on a slope is not a problem to some but to a small group it can be the end of the world. Propping up a caravan or motor home to level it is standard practice The use of concrete blocks or ramps, is all the same

Situated on the site are numerous dog bins contrary to the last reviewer.
We do not provide feminine ladies bins as there is no issue in discarded any feminine waste into the Wc`s as these tanks are emptied on a regular basis

On site we have numerous large waste bins. They are collected twice a week The waste situation is monitored frequently Often we find that young children are being asked to discard the rubbish on behalf of there family But only leaving on the floor next to the bins as they are unable to reach the bin lids Clearly the bin areas can not be monitored around the clock.

Not quite what I was expecting for a touring site.

(Family with young children, 3 reviews)   Confirmed

  • Date stayed: Jul 2013

  • Liked: Upon early arrival the staff were very helpful and were happy for us to go to our designated pitch and set up camp, even though we arrived early. This was very much appreciated so thankyou. We were escorted to our pitch so that we had no trouble finding our way around. The location of the site means that the beach is only a short walk/ or drive away and the beach has lifeguards, ample parking and a cafe/shop. The campsite itself does have a small childrens play area and outdoor activities. There is a launderette on site and a small shop, bar and takeaway. Open in the evenings and during the day. The site offers static caravns, touring pitches and camping pitches.
There were alot of happy campers on the site, all enjoying themselves. Noise levels did quieten down for 11pm. The site was very full so lots of people are happy to use it. Washing up facilities are under cover and there is a recycling point.
  • Disliked: The pitches. There are no clear boundaries between the pitches, so we were not really sure, where our pitch started or ended. We went with our caravan and had to level it on a slope. I am aware that the campsite states that some of their pitches are sloping, but really, the site gave us concrete blocks to level our caravan with. We found that after touring lots of sites in Cornwall over this season that this one had the worst facilities. Not enough toilets or basins, showers (which you have to pay for), and no family changing area? I do not recall seeing any feminine hygiene bins in the toilets or a nappy changing area. I did not see any dog bins, even though it is a dog friendly site. Rubbish bins not emptied often enough and so were overflowing. Road areas not designated properly, some gravel then just onto grass, and going up and down hill. That must be interesting with lots of cars, campers and caravans in lots of wet cornish weather. I wander if the campsite could make up a places of interest brochure for their clients. Suggest things in their local area that are worth travelling to see and places to go?
I know that I have listed more negative things than positive, but I think that if the site owners use these negative points as plans of action then they can make this site really beautiful. The sea views speak for themselves and because the location is rather remote, the more facilties the site offers the happier and more content the campers will be and more likely to return.
From the manager...

Thank you for leaving your comments We are a little bit disappointed and confused by some of your comments and have remained positive despite your negative remarks Your remarks remain your opinion and are not shared by thousands of visitors to Chycarne each and every year

Our response

All pitches are marked out by either boundary posts or drainage ditches Many of the drainage ditches are now covered in grass but are still visible On pitching all visitors are shown there boundaries If there is any confusion we are happy to oblige and make clear marks with yellow marker paint as mentioned in another review. On site we have many level pitches Of course we do urge visitors to book as earliest as possible if they have certain requirements Leveling a caravan or motor home is common practice even on what appears level ground The use of wooden blocks or concrete blocks makes no difference as to whether you are level or not the fact remains is that you are level if that is what you require

Your comments regarding our facilities is simply untrue As all other previous reviewers would disagree with you We have worked hard at increasing the number of toilets and showers and washing up stations in the last few years This year we added a further ladies block and we will be adding a further men`s and ladies block for the 2014 season. Of course if every body decides to use the facilities at once then we would never have enough, no more if you all try to have a bath at home clearly you all can not take one at the same time or maybe you can. We have two shower blocks Situated in our main block are two family shower rooms and baby changing unit This block is a two minute walk from the summer camping shower block We clearly can not provide absolutely every facility every where as this would not be affordable and not practical

There situated around the site a number of dog waste bins and really confused that you did not make note of them This might just go to show that you may be passing comments that are factually not true
We do not provide feminine bins as it is not necessary to do so All feminine waste can be safely discarded into the WC`S All our septic tanks are cleaned and emptied through out the season
The waste management is a constant struggle not just for us but for all busy parks Most of the problems come from visitors not discarding their waste correctly into the bins despite them being half empty or in some cases completely empty. To often young children are asked to take their families waste and simply because they can not reach the lids they leave it on the floor. This can not be the thought of the park and its staff But all bins are monitored and any waste on the floor is dealt with as soon as possible This situation is no different at home if your bin is full you will simply put it hopefully into a black refuse sack and discard it when the waste is collected If every body chooses to discard at the same time then really what do you think will happen and of course not every body discards their waste into black refuse sacks which only compounds the problem

All roads on the site are marked with white boundary posts and chains as you enter the camping area the hard road surface ceases This is pretty much like all campsites We do not want to spoil our site with tarmac roads and street lighting just to please a very small minority of so called campers. These so called campers are better suited to camping and caravanning club sites with all the rules and regulations being drummed into them day in day out Chycarne as a much more relaxed approach and encourages good neighbors though there are rules and regulations and codes of conduct that are expected to be observed by all that visit

Of course driving around on site in wet conditions requires sensible and safe driving Most cars are not equipped to be of road on grass in wet conditions but are perfectly safe in dry conditions This again is hardly not the thought of the campsite. This is no different if it happens to snow. Most if not all cars are not equipped to drive on roads in these conditions but alas we all do with some consequences but to date after 13 years NO ACCIDENTS YET on site due to wet conditions.

Situated in our launderette is a abundance of literature for local attractions and places to visit On our website is a whole section of places and" things to do" Of course there is always reception and they are always be happy to help.

On the whole Chycarne as in excess of seven to eight thousand visitors either camping, touring or in static caravans. we can honestly say seven thousand nine hundred and ninety five are happy Not all will re visit but many do either the following year or at some time A few will always find some think to not like despite all our efforts as it pains me to say it

I hope that many of these negative points are read with our reply and of course this is only one persons opinion and does not reflect the very large majority that visit Chycarne every year new and regular visitors that have witnessed the major improvements being undertaken every year to only further improve what is already a great site and of course please remember we are not a large Plc with loads of money but a small family run campsite working extremely hard to produce the number one destination in Cornwall for camping and touring supported by 70% visitor returning year on year
Thank you Chycarne

Friendly, not too big, family run camp. Not so lucky with the weather.

(Mature couple, 1 review)   Confirmed

  • Date stayed: Jul 2013

  • Liked: Family running the camp were very nice. I have been to other camps, including some chain companies. This one goes the extra mile ensuring the bathrooms are relatively clean (given the high usage), there was washing up liquid and sponges available at the washing up area, FREE freezer for freezer blocks (very useful for non electric pitches).
And I would recommend the Cornish Pasties from the "takeaway" hut on the camp. They are home made and really nice (and I am quite fussy).
The place a little hard (long) to get to, but it is worth it.
  • Disliked: The bottom of the field could use some additional toilets. Perhaps two unisex ones??? The new ones on the top of the hill are over used. There were always ques, particularly in the male ones, which is not very common to see :)

Also not too keen on the 10p per minute shower fee, although I understand the reasons behind it. However, if the pitch price stays low, I am happy to pay it. Finding out that there was no soap in the shower soap dispensers when I was already wet and my shower minutes were already running did annoy me a lot, to put it politely.
From the manager...

Thank you for leaving your review Keeping the toilet and shower block facilities is around the clock effort Of course there are gaps between cleaning especially at busy times We then are very reliant on how the last visitor leaves it for the next person This year we have installed new toilets for both male (2 toilets plus urinal) and female (3 toilets ) at the top of the summer camping field of course the main toilet and shower block is only a 2 minute walk away from these facilities if they are unavailable. Work as begun to install a further 6 toilets (3 male plus urinals / 3 female) to the bottom of the camping field as well as two washing up stations (4 sinks ) These will be completed ready for the 2014 season

The charges for showers were introduced a little while back They were introduced for a number of very good reasons But the main reason was to reduce the overstay by individuals It was being reported that some visitors were spending up to 40 minutes at a time This was causing long queues at peak times. Since the introduction these queues have vanished to the joy all concerned To reflect the charge, we reduced the camping cost and have held our prices at there current level for two years Camping at Chycarne this year for a std pitch for two adults is £12.00 at peak season This is real value for money Naturally we look at our prices every year Costs continue to rise to all businesses as well as all domestic households and it is very important that chycarne operates at a profit in order for it to be able to offer updated facilities as you mentioned or the park will fall in to decline often sadly we all can see around us in our towns and villages.

I must agree with you that i too would be annoyed but this is a very rarely occurs The soap dispensers hold around 1000 squirts of liquid and therefore very rarely run out In fact this is the first instance to my knowledge but in your case it did and therefore we apologize for this I will ensure that the cleaning staff check the dispensers more frequently

Thank you for your comments they have been very useful and look forward to your return visit Kind regards Brian chycarne

  • Liked: Very friendly staff on site always going the extra mile to make sure you had everything you needed and very helpful. We hadn't visited Cornwall at all before and it was our first time camping. The site itself has beautiful views over kennack sands, the showers were clean and hot! The pitches themselves were bigger than we expected having a booked a large one with electric hook up, our two medium tents, we had plenty of extra space to spread out. Overall we all loved it, very family friendly and we will definitely be going back thank you for making our first family holiday unforgettable :)
  • Disliked: If anything we didn't dislike anything but would suggest maybe a cash machine on site at the shop.

  • Liked: - good facilities on site
    - safe for young childreen (fenced)
    - not far away to sea side (10-15 minutes walk)
  • Disliked: - washing machines rent (price + 18kg size???)
    - pitching on the slope (rolling durring the night)
From the manager...

Thank you for leaving your review We are pleased that you enjoyed your stay with us. Just to clarify on the washing machines These machines are of commercial/industrial size 18lb loads and with the maintenance contracts are quite expensive but at £4.00 pound per wash this offers excellent value for money given that they are twice the capacity of a domestic washing machines

Having to pitch on a slight slope as its advantages, it totally depends on how you view it. To most its never a problem but to some, it can be the end of the world To us camping is about getting back out there and the world is not flat but it is fun We do have many pitches well in excess of 70 level pitches available. It is always better to book early to avoid any disappointments if you have certain requirements Thank you Brian chycarne

  • Liked: We stayed at Chy Carne Monday to Friday two adults two children and the Dog.
The staff at this camp site are very hard working and friendly.
The site is spotless, shower and toilet blocks are cleaned regularly and are immaculate.
There are stunning sea views from the marquee where you can enjoy a drink ( reasonably priced. Beer was cheaper than the pub up the road) and get a bite to eat from the hut next to it.(would recommend, the two people that run this are lovely)
My son thinks the Pizza's are the "Best in the World."
The kids couldn't get enough of the play area.
Kennack sands is just a short walk away and is lovely. There is a huge area of beach for dogs and is a nice sheltered bathing beach.
Overall had a great break and would highly recommend to anyone.

Much effort goes into keeping our toilet and shower blocks clean for all visitors to use but sadly not all visitors care how they leave them for the next person But our onsite cleaning staff are always at the ready with mop and bucket and clothe in hand

Value for money and peace of mind are not just words at Chycarne but away of life We want all our visitors whether here for the first time or repeat customers to enjoy what we can offer and enjoy our surroundings whether its at the local beach Kennack sands by the way is one of the cleanest and most popular beaches for locals as well as visitors in Cornwall. There is much to do locally but if not Chycarne is ideally placed for a vast majority of Cornish attractions

Big Daddies pizzas are created from scratch and are prepared to order and of course the real proof is in the eating Our chef Ben will soon be adding a breakfast pizza for all to sample

The Marquee arms is our campsite bar and yes as great views out to sea Our prices are very reasonable but fair. Its a real shame that many campsites and local bars feel that it is acceptable to raise there prices just because there are holiday makers visiting. This is not fair in any book and not justified But be assured this will not happen at Chycarne on our watch

Thank you and we look forward to your next visit All the best Brian chycarne

Great location, great facilities

(Family with older children, 1 review)   Confirmed

  • Date stayed: Jul 2013
  • Recommend to friends   Visit again
  • Liked: Fantastic view over the coast. Not far to the beach, and dogs were allowed on the far side of the beach.
  • Disliked: The toilet seats were broken which the kids were very unimpressed with!
There is quite a gradient on the non-electric camping field but you could get a flat pitch if you pay more..
From the manager...

Thank you for your review Overall i suppose we are slightly saddened by some of your comments. Having invested both time and money into the new toilet blocks to the summer camping field we find ourselves with a visitor that set about vandalising the toilet seats Three seats broken in a single night Then a further two the following night. Of course we keep a supply for replacements but not 5 seats. Great we have replaced them all and no further incident as been reported. All our facilities are cleaned and maintained around the clock But they are not maned on a 24 hour basis and therefore these type of incidents can occur. Keeping them clean is our priority but again you only need the last visitor to leave the facilities in a unclean condition and the next visitor to discover and the process goes on, Until the next schedule cleaning or it as been reported. All facilities are checked regularly. On discovery is immediately reported to the cleaners and reception and dealt with robustly. This is the first review that as scored us slightly down on cleanliness, "which is disappointing" but i can assure all visitors that this is not the case and can clearly be reflected in all other reviews submitted

Our summer camping field does have a slight slope in areas. Outside of the main summer holidays visitors can choose at random where they would like to pitch unless the pitch as been booked specifically We will always try to accommodate any visitors wish, if at all possible Our charges are fair and reasonable and offer real value for money We DO NOT CHARGE extra for a flat pitch Our tariff covers all pitches with a sea view or without Flat and slightly sloping they are all the same but Cornwall and especially coastal sites tend to have rolling and sweeping views towards the sea Well especially Chycarne Our views from the site are considered probably one of the best. We are so lucky to be blessed with such breathtaking scenery But this is sometimes the price you pay but of course it is down to customer preference as to what ,where, how, when, but the choice always remains with the customer as to where they would like to pitch. We look forward to welcoming all new and return visitors to Chycarne this season and next and look forward to meeting you all Thank you Brian Chycarne

We stayed two nights as a spur of the moment trip - highly recommended

  • Liked: The toilet and shower facilities were very clean and lovely to use. The bar was great being in a marquee with soft outdoor sofa seats and a firepit outside.

Plenty of food available to eat at night - we had their pizzas the first night and they were top-notch and were delivered to the bar down the field when they were ready, which was nice. Bar had a good choice of drinks available.

Shop was great and had all we needed.

Very friendly & helpful staff and we were made to feel welcome.
  • Disliked: The tent field was mostly on the slope & all of the flatter pitches had gone, which was a shame, but it was in a lovely location.

There was nothing else to dislike!
From the manager...

"Great" We are so pleased that more and more visitors really appreciate all our efforts, We continue to improve and invest in all Our facilities despite being a small family run campsite The slope on the Kennack field is slight and most find it okay but we would`nt want to change it as it forms part of the natural topography of the land and allows far more visitors to enjoy the fantastic sea views here at chycarne Of course WE do have many pitches that are level But interesting enough most visitors given a choice tend to go to this Field unprompted. We look forward to your return visit All the best Brian chycarne

"Happy campers" wonderful, Thank you. Sure sometimes directions, signposts can be a little bit head scratching but that`s pretty much all over the country Please remember that Cornwall and Chycarne has been here for more than 60 years Sat Nav well a couple of years give or take a year or two but the best places are always hidden away that`s why they are so great Hopefully it won`t be too long before the technology catches up but there is always the good old fashion atlas map We look forward to seeing you again and hopefully you do not run into to much trouble with the directions second time around Best regards Brian chycarne

and spacious, the marquee bar is a great idea with low prices, next to the bar is a takeaway which too is nicely priced, the shop has got just about everything.
Pizza takeaway not used by us but had a nice aroma as you passed it..

  • Disliked: The takeaway should fry onions with its burgars. Also the smell of fried onions attracts more customers.
From the manager...

Thank you for taking the time to leave your comments. We like to please all our visitors and that includes sensible prices We are not like many other sites that over inflate their prices to earn a quick quid from holiday makers We feel that there should always be value for money As long as each facility does not cost more than it costs to run and there is a small profit at the end to enable us to reinvest then we are happy We hope to see you again soon and thank you for your visit Regards Brian chycarne

Camping by the beach

(Young couple, 1 review)   Confirmed

  • Date stayed: Jul 2013
  • Recommend to friends   Visit again
  • Liked: 1. Chy Carne is only a 10-15 minute walk to Kennack Sands beach which is the main reason we picked this site. It's a lovely walk- you walk for a few minutes on the road and then there is a path to your left which takes you down a wooded path past fields of horses. There is a small beach shop/cafe and toilets as you arrive at the beach and a car park if you wanted to drive though it's nicer to walk!

    2. Immaculately clean toilets and showers! They were probably the best toilets/showers I have used at any campsite. Every time I went to the toilet or for a shower I saw the young lady who was cleaning them- she kept on top of it so well and always looked very busy keeping it lovely for everyone! There was a radio that played through the speakers in the showers/toilets which I thought was a great idea- really loved that! The showers were 50p for 5 minutes and then 10p for every extra minute after that. Showers were decent- a nice warm temperature and good water flow (not overly powerful and not a pathetic trickle either- just a nice amount!)

    3. The campsite owners/family/workers were all very friendly, smiley and chatty- which is always nice as it makes you feel at home and welcome!

    4. Relaxing and peaceful atmosphere. We camped during the mid-season, so there were other people around but it wasn't too busy! Of course this is all personal preference, so bear in mind that if you like peaceful quiet camping then you should reconsider camping in the high season which I believe is in August. The owners told us it can get very busy, so if you prefer quiet camping then don't complain if it gets a bit busy and noisy in the high season, this is something the owners cant change as it's the same situation at every campsite. August = school holidays!

    4. Food and drink on site was great! There was a 'snack shack' which sold burgers, sausages, chips, kids meals, pasties etc! And also a pizza place which is on site but actually delivers the pizza to your tent- amazing!! There was a bar inside the large marquee tent which opened on the evening. They had a really good selection of drinks, picnic tables, music playing through speakers, a pool table and Foosball table! The drinks were a decent price as well, we payed £2.00 for a Jack Daniels and coke and about £1.50 for a shot of apple sourz- much cheaper than most pubs and clubs!

  • Disliked: 1. This isn't something that can be changed in any way by the campsite owners I just wanted to mention it as I think people need to be aware and drive safely! The roads leading to the campsite are very narrow and very twisty. So twisty that you can't see what is coming at all. Don't let this put you off though- as it's such a beautiful area and campsite! Just please make sure you drive really slow and beep your horn at corners where you cant see what's coming in the opposite direction. There are cyclists and pedestrians around as well as other cars and vans and it just isn't safe to drive fast! So take your time and be safe!

    2. This is just a small suggestion- it would have been great if they had a wider range of meat products in the onsite shop. There was fresh bacon- which was lovely by the way! And there were frozen sausages in the freezer. However it would have been great if there was some locally sourced fresh burgers, sausages and maybe chicken! I love coming to Cornwall and sampling the local produce- the bacon was so nice we would liked to have tried more. They may have not had a lot as it was fairly quiet and a lot of the food could have ended up being wasted. I would like to stress that there was plenty of food in the onsite shop, the snack shack and pizza place! Just a little suggestion :)
From the manager...

WOW know that`s what i call a review We are very pleased that you enjoyed your stay with us and hope that you will revisit us again soon I will pass on to the caterers your comment about the onions i hope that it does not make them cry Thank you Brian Chycarne

Enjoyable stay

(Family with young children, 1 review)

  • Date stayed: Jul 2013
  • Recommend to friends   Visit again
  • Liked: We had a lovely time during our recent stay. It was our first family holiday following our recent adoption of two toddlers so it was really important to us that it went well. We were booked onto the perfect pitch, bit of shade from the trees in the morning and evening that helped the children sleeping, terraced pitches gave a little more privacy than you'd usually expect and gave us a view of the sea, close enough to the facilities and a few swings and play areas which were perfect for us. We liked the little food shack, lovely friendly couple running it and despite our intention to cook ourselves every evening we found ourselves eating a couple of meals there. Very helpful campsite proprietors and staff, even when the shop was shut and we'd run out of wood for our fire, they kindly delivered more without a problem. Kennack Sands beach was good but we enjoyed Coverack more (short drive away but easy access to dog friendly beach with nice rockpools and a couple of nice shops with good quality supplies) and Kynance Cove was lovely (but only when we found a dog sitter for the day). Good value campsite, easy going with facilities that make camping easy without being OTT.
  • Disliked: Nothing particular
From the manager...

Great We are all delighted here at Chycarne that your stay with us was a relaxed and peaceful, At chycarne we run a relaxed site that that few rules. we believe that life is stressful enough without campsite owners barking rules and regulations like so many other campsites We often hear tales from other visitors/campers on how owners behave," Quite scary really". We have worked very hard to create a balance on the park Not to much but enough But camping is really about getting out there, back in touch with the great outdoors, burning campfires and good company at affordable prices in a great coastal location with sea views that can not be matched We hope to see you again and wish you all the very best with your new family Brian chycarne

“A gem of a place and they go the extra mile..”

(Mature couple, 1 review)

  • Date stayed: Jun 2013
  • Recommend to friends   Visit again
  • Liked: We spent absolute hours reviewing sites in cornwall (trip advisor, google, pitchup, etc..) this was our first trip away after loosing our son so we wanted some where relaxing, peaceful and with a nice back drop, we got more here... As you can imagine it was a terrifying thought of leaving the comfort of our home surroundings but this trip and this place was a breath of fresh air, upon coming home (reluctantly) our friends all said how much better we looked.

The facilities were regularly and immaculately cleaned. Any slight mess that may of been left by a previous camper was soon tidied up (truly cannot comprehend the few low reviews been given here but you can not please everyone no matter how hard you try and Sue & Brian are non stop hard working, smiling all ways)
One evening went and took a seat outside the bar to take in the beautiful views with a nice ale, no sooner had we sat a barrow of logs followed, firepit lit, cushions brought for the chairs, and new wind breakers opened up as the sea mist started to appear. 3 of the staff running about us. Nothing is too much!!
Young Stan who is the owners son is a true credit to them both, working all hours but finding time to have a jest and a natter.

Positives: all the above and much more, wishing Chy Carne was not 340 miles away as it would be my weekend retreat. A gem to come back to time again.
  • Disliked: Negatives: hmmm.... Hmmmm nothing at all.... maybe just the negative reviews on here, 1.(mud....hmmm wasn't last year full of mud throughout the country being our wettest yet, go find some concrete if your a camper that doesn't like grass)
2.(pitches not level.... oh my lord, was you even there, I'd have to say 75% are level a minority are on a slight tilt, pretty dam good for cornwall where I discovered I couldn't cycle up the hilly countryside.. Whilst we was there they must of only been 30% full we were offered pretty much anywhere we wanted to go but there were more campers on the tilting field than the flat areas so where's the complaining in that.
3.(Cleanliness not good... Oh go suck eggs, the place is spotless tho occasionally only as clean as the last user left it, thats only if you get there before the cleaners)

Chy Carne Thank you for a lovely refreshing stay... We will meet again
From the manager...

Brilliant place to stay and explore the south tip of Cornwall

  • Liked: The owners were friendly and helpful, the static caravan we stayed in was clean and tidy and the site was immaculate. The location was perfect - twenty minutes walk from Kennack Sands (a dream of a beach, and very quiet at the start of July) and we were in easy drive of Helston and The Lizard. The on-site facilities were fine - our son enjoyed the play area, the pizza takeaway is brilliant (definitely worth a look!) and the on-site shop wasn't massively overpriced (I have stayed in other sites where the shop basically held people to ransom with extortionate prices - this was not one of them). We were made to feel welcome from the second we got there and we will definitely be returning again.
  • Disliked: There wasn't much to gripe about. Apparently a group of school children had been there the week before, so there were some basic things missing from our caravan - a remote for the television, a lighter for the cooker, tin opener. None of these were an issue however - we just let the friendly owner know and were given matches and a tin opener to replace them!
From the manager...

Thank you for taking the time to leave your comments. We are delighted that we met your expectations. • Liked: The caravan we stayed in was brilliant. Arrived on site to find we had been upgraded to a three bed static from a two bed. Caravan was clean and everything worked. We honestly didn't expect to be so impressed considering how cheap our holiday was! The site was impressive with everything you need. The tourer and tent pitches all had sea views and the site itself was only a 10 minute walk from the beach!

Site owner was very friendly and more than willing to help is out with anything we asked.
  • Disliked: Only the weather but that's not anyone's fault!
From the manager...

Thank you for your recent review We are delighted that you enjoyed your stay with us As a small family business what we offer and strive to achieve above all else is value for money. We are unlike many other businesses in the camping and holiday business that simply overcharge and then don`t deliver an acceptable service Big sites such as your park deans on the whole offer very little and are poor in comparison despite the inflated price that many customers simply can not afford We welcome your support to a small business such as ours and thank the many visitors to chycarne and look forward to your return visit and new customers alike Thank you Brian Chycarne

  • Liked: Having just spend 5 days at your campsite, i would like to say that we had a great time, the site was more than we expected, the pitches were of a great size and well maintained, the shower/toilets blocks were very clean and i loved the radio being played whilst going about our business :-)
the whole area of the site was clean and tidy and great views of the sea.
but more than anything the owners Brian and Sue were a massive help to us and others on our first night. when we arrived the weather was so bad we had to abandon the tent and they put us in a caravan for the night.
also their son Stan was a taxi for us one evening to the local village as the private hire wanted £24 return it was only a 3 mile round trip.

Great views, a little rusty around the edges

(Family with young children, 1 review)   Confirmed

  • Date stayed: Sep 2012
  • Recommend to friends   Visit again
  • Liked: The views of the sea are superb from most pitches, there was a useful play area and loads of room for the kids to run around in, friendly staff. Loos and showers pretty clean.
  • Disliked: The site appeared to be on near shut down with almost all facilities closed, a fair bit of construction work was going on, most soap dispensers were empty, half the taps didn't work, looks like the beach is easy to access but it isn't! A slightly shabby feel overall.
From the manager...

Thank you for your recent review. We are pleased that you would return and would recommend us Outside of our main summer season the site does enter a shut down of certain facilities However some facilities do remain open. We began our planned improvements early due to the weahter But these improvements are being made to add further toilets and washing up areas as well as replacing our chalets with static caravans. We have now added our larger pizza takeaway and increased the size of the shop We note your comments regarding our soap dispensers We have had some problems with our suppliers and we had been supplied the wrong soap for the dispensers resulting in the soap dripping out through the dispenser as this soap was the foam type but our units are designed for liquid soap. We did have a problem with one of the cold taps that was connected to a further sink However there was still hot water available to these sinks and a further three sinks opposite New taps will be installed for 2013 The beach is accessed either but the main road or by walking through the valley either way is pretty straightforward. After the summer weather the site was slightly looking unkept but this is due to the weather and ground conditions Hardly our fault So your slightly negative comment is unfair. Every year a considerable amount of investment goes into making further improvements to further enhance Chycarne

  • Liked: We liked the bar, located in the big tent, and that there was a pizza that got delivered to sites!
  • Disliked: Having to pitch a tent on a hill, and paying extra when booking online for a larger pitch, when actually there was no difference in site allowences.
Also had some shower issues, with little water pressure one morning.
From the manager...

Thank you for your review. Given the summer weather pitching on a slight slope was a real bonus. with these pitches drying much quicker. Your comment regarding the pitch size is incorrect We have 101 electric pitches that are marked out between Super large ,large and standard What is important is that you get what you book. Given the ground conditions this year we had to make decisions on pitching on arrival We are often left in a situation that visitors tents far in exceed the pitch size but we ain`t moaning. We did have the unfortunate situation one morning when our water supply was temporary cut off by the water company A situation totally out of our control but thats life i`m afraid But it was only for a short time Good news work as already started on new toilets and washing stations for next year only further improving was is probably the best site on the lizard Thank you Chycarne

  • Liked: Our holiday started off as a disaster (we lost control of our caravan on A30 near Bodmin and it crashed into barrier smashing all underneath and sides (untowable). I contacted Sue to let her know and unfortunately found there were no statics available. However after eventually finding a travel lodge for the night (hard to do with 5 dogs in tow) i persuaded my partner to settle for a tent so we could at least have a bit of a hol. Contacted Sue again on the Monday to find someone had to return home and she had a static available for 2 weeks. Mood lifted we took out as much as we could from our caravan and set off for the rest of the journey to Chycarne. What a lovely site and fantastic staff, i can't praise them enough. The accident has ended our touring days but our experience at Chycarne has made us realise we can still enjoy a hol with our dogs. We took care to make sure they were as well behaved as possible and being poodles they don't leave hairs everywhere, however i still put covers all over in respect of people using the caravan after us. During our stay we witnessed and heard comments about dog mess not being picked up but the staff inspected the site and picked up anything left. Some people are disrespectful and don't realise they spoil it for others. I was just so pleased we could find somewhere to accommodate our brood and can't thank Sue and Brian and the rest of the great staff enough. The site is kept very clean and staff are always around should you need them. We did not visit the marquee but did sample the delicious pizza. I did not use the shower/toilet block (I showered in the caravan) my partner did and said they were the cleanest and hottest showers he'd ever used during our 4 years of touring. This site is well worth the journey and visit and i cannot wait to return.
  • Disliked: Having to leave!
From the manager...

Thank you for your kind comments We are pleased that we were able to help you and that you enjoyed your stay with us. Chycarne is a very relaxed site with only a few basic rules and one of them is to respect your fellow campers sadly not all dog owners fall into this . Beyond that its simple, have a good time. If you need our help we are there and if you don`t then we are around until you do. Life is about living, its stressful enough without all the complaining and moaning that some people do Glad that the family poochs had a good holiday as well.We look forward to seeing you all next year But don`t leave it to late as we will booked up very early Bye for now Chycarne

Never again

  • Liked: The shower block was excellent
  • Disliked: The mud!! I appreciate that it had rained a lot, but being unable to move your car in or out without assistance or even in some places being unable to park your car next to your tent, means that the "camping" pitch is not fit for purpose.
From the manager...

Thank you for your review Of course we are sadden by your lack of understanding given the difficult conditions that we found ourselves operating in. We were not aware that you experienced any problems while you were on site after you were repitched. Chycarne is a campsite, All our pitches are grass with exception of a few hardstandings Normally the summers in cornwall are dry however this year was very different. Poor driving with cars that are not fit to be off the road were the main cause for some areas becoming muddy Sadly visitors often become impatient and instead of easing back on the accelarator they hammer it to death only succeeding in cutting into the ground further eventually getting stuck Multiply this by 100. Then it isnt long before we have a ground full of mud add more rain and the cycle goes on. Tents today are so big often covering the whole pitch This as made it much more difficult for the ground to recover during the season especially if the ground is wet. Clearly if campers are walking over the same piece of ground and its saturated with water it will take no time to become boggy. Of course we only become aware of this after the tent is removed. Through out the summer have been providing ground plates to campers on request. We do not agree with your comment regarding parking your car next to your pitch means that the pitch is not fit for purpose In your case you were not effected in this way and you stayed for the whole of your planned duration What it means is that the ground is not fit for vehicles that are unable to drive safely accross the ground, alternative parking arrangements are then required This is sadly a consequence of the weather . We note your very poor scoring on some issues We do not really understand this as we are normally scored very high on these Clearly you had other issues but unless we were aware of them then how can we deal with them. Chycarne is a great site offerring great value for money we have hard working friendly staff and our customer service is second to none of course this is our opinion gladly shared by nearly all that visit Chycarne

  • Liked: Cleanliness of facilities, i often bumped in to the cleaner when popping to the toilet/shower block and must say it is probably the cleanest facilities ive ever seen whilst camping! Liked having the marquee bar and the snack shack and the quizzes were fun, we actually won worst quiz team too haha. all staff were very friendly and welcoming
  • Disliked: The only thing that bugged me was that we were shown to our pitch by a member of staff, then when we had put our tent upa couple came back and were questionning why we had been told to pitch there as they had friends coming and were told they could have the whole area. we were then asked ny a member of staff to move our car to the top and park on the road to protect the ground. which we did. we then went out only to come back and see our tend literally surrounded by 3 tents 2 cars and a big mercedes van. Our pitch had been raken over and for the 3 days they were there we felt a bit uncomfortable in our own tent especially as they were so noisy! I understand these things happen but would have preferred not to have been lied to when asked to.move the car as it was clear we were asked to move it so as to accomodate the others, and everyone else on the site were allowed to keep their cars on their pitch. but luckily after they had gone the remainder of our holiday was lovely
From the manager...

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. We are pleased that you enjoyed your stay and note your comments regarding the shower block facilities. I note your comments regarding the mix up on the pitching Sadly weather conditions and ground conditions forced us to pitch all arrivals on to the upper parts of the site A mistake was made by the ground staff on pitching you into this pitch We can only apologise I don`t think that the ground staff lied to you but more that the other campers pitched next to you were slightly more difficult and were not willing to accept at the time that a mistake had been made We wished that this did not happen but sadly it did We will make sure that on your return that all will be as it should be. Thank you chycarne

  • Liked: I loved the site it had fantastic views, I can't think of a better view to wake up to every morning, the staff were very accommodating, they were always around and always friendly, they were never to busy to help, the food on site has to be the best food I have tasted on a campsite their was such a wide veriaty of food, but I must say, big daddy's pizzas are the best pizzas I have tasted! The site was always clean, every time I went to go to the toilet I always saw that they were cleaning, I have no complaints about the site, the weather didn't put me off from coming back to the site.
  • Disliked: My only dislike is that I have to wait till next summer to come back to this campsite
From the manager...

Thank you for your review We are delighted that you enjoyed your stay Sadly we seem to be the blame for a outbreak from some visitors of the Noravirus within the area during this summer This is Unfounded and wrong for any body to report this in this way We have been inspected by the Public Health body and given a clear and clean bill of health But Clearly we can not contain mother Nature but only do what we can to advise and maintain our welfare blocks to the best of our ability The rest is down to all the visitors.in and around the area. We hope that you were unaffected by this It would appear that only a few have been infected out of Hundreds that have visited this Summer Noravirus is the most common Gut bug in the world and affects millions It generally only lasts upto 24 hours and thrives in wet and cooler conditions Its Other common name is The winter vomitting bug Many schools ,colleges ,nursing homes, residential homes etc are affected in Britain everyear just like the Flu and common cold As from today there as been no more reports of sickness for the past 7 days and would appear that the situation in under control as visitor numbers drop s the season comes to a end We look forward to your return visit next year Chycarne

  • Liked: We were met by very friendly helpful staff on arrival, who made sure we knew where to find everything and took us to our pitch.
Our pitch was a good size and only a short walk away from the facilities.
The showers and toilets were cleaned several times a day and we often had a chat with with the cleaners who were also friendly and did a great job!
We enjoyed the extra facilities of the Marquee Bar, which offered good entertainment including quizzes and music,as well as reasonably priced drinks. (A pint of cornish ale for £2.85 and a house double G & T for £3.00, being our favourite tipples!) The Snack Shack offered great value breakfasts and meals. I particularly enjoyed the tuna steak!
Although we couldn't see the sea from our pitch there was a lovely sea view from the bar and the beach was nearby.
We had such a great time we extended our stay for another 2 nights!
  • Disliked: We didn't dislike anything about the site or the service, but there are always a few campers who don't have the common courtesy to follow simple rules.
We experienced someone elses dog frequently roaming on to our pitch and my wife even saw the dog in the shower block, despite clear signs. After a quick word at Reception this was sorted and the dog put on a lead.
On one occasion someone had left a half smoked, broken cigarette in the sink, despite a cigarette bin and no smoking sign by the door.
These things are not the fault of the owners or cleaners and despite these inconsiderate campers the facilities were kept clean and tidy, thanks to the hard work and dedication of the staff.
From the manager...

Thank you for your comments We are delighted that you enjoyed your stay with us Value for money is our mission and your comments confirm this to us. More improvements this winter. Sadly there are a few visitors thank god that are totally inconsiderate to others and this is very frustrating to other campers as well as us owners We wished we could be told who they are but sadly this unacceptable behaviour often goes unnoticed at the time. We do recieve the odd bad comment and we generally find that this is all mostly associated with bad weather as we normally are to blame for this but alas the sun is going to shine this weekend 1/9/12 Thank you and hope to see you again Chycarne

  • Liked: We stayed on an electric pitch for 9 days and loved every minute of it. Everyone was friendly and helpful, the views are stunning, the marquee bar is a lovely idea and the snack shack useful too! I would recommend this site, it is perfect for both younger and older children (we have both)and the pitches are a good size.
The shower blocks and washing up areas are cleaned frequently, in fact we seemed to see the cleaners there every time we went up, and got to know them as they are all really friendly!

We will definitely be revisiting this site, but will stay longer next time, and will be telling everyone about it!
  • Disliked: The only downsides to the stay were the good old British weather....(rain, wind and more rain) but it didn't dampen our holiday....and some inconsiderate campers....(one night I visited the loo and someone had left a dirty nappy on the floor....this is absolutely NOT the owners/cleaners fault but is due to some lazy people with no camping etiquette)...and people letting their dogs roam freely onto other pitches....again NOT the fault of the campsite, in fact when someone mentioned it to the owners, the family were quickly asked to keep their dog on a lead.
From the manager...

Thank you for your comments for all to see We are delighted that you enjoyed your stay with us Your comments will be passed onto all the staff especially the cleaners as they do work very hard and on the whole get very little credit for what is a thankless task Without them operating the site would be much more difficult We look forward to your return visit Chycarne

  • Liked: The overall friendliness of this site cannot be faulted from check in to general site management making themselves both attentive and accommodating.

The site has a relaxed atmosphere and community feel from all.

The facilities were both clean and well maintained with regular site management attending to them.

The site has a great deal of extras which I was not expecting considering the value for money including washing up facilities for cooking equipment and onsite pub and entertainment and catering/food outlet. These certainly gave you a great option if indeed like our visit the weather closed in. Even the site shop was useful for the odd emergency item like the forgotten wooden spoon.

It was great to see the beach from our pitch and being a foot step away from the sand and waves! The local villages and coastal walks are a must as well as the local produce and Cornish beer!
  • Disliked: Having to leave.... though would go again and hope for better bank holiday weather :(

    Nice clean showers and loos.
  • Disliked: The noise from the building site next door starting at 7am! (But I appreciate that this is beyond the control of the campsite owners)
Rolling slopes but I suppose that adds to the charm.
From the manager...

Thank you for taking the time to add your review and posting your comments All our facilities are modern and cleaned up to every 2 hours during busier periods. We fully appreciate that it is unacceptable that any works on or off the site should start at a reasonable hour and finish at a sensible time The owners of the building site have been told and offer there apologies and guaranteed us that it would not happen again The pitches to the summer camping field are on the whole on a slight slope This is camping is cornwall Levelling the pitches would offer no views as all the tents would be at the same level We are sad that you would not revisit but on a happier note are delighted that you would recommend us Thank you Chycarne

  • Liked: Great area with sea views, clean showers and toilets, short walk to the beach, friendly helpful staff.
  • Disliked: The little hut selling food was only open on one occasion when I was passing it and I passed it a fair few times. Shame not be able to get a coffee on a rainy morning.

Much of the site is on a slope, as was our pitch, so gravity was definitely getting the better of us when moving around in our tent.
From the manager...

Thank you Mark for leaving a positive review regarding Chycarne We note your comments however regarding the snack hut The opening times for the hut are 8am to 11.30am wed to sun and 5pm to 9 pm seven evenings a week Our Popular pizza take away is open from 5pm to 10 pm seven nights a week Of course these are only operating during the summer as the demand drops of from the 1st September The site has currently in excess of 50 level pitches and some that are on a slight slope. Cornwall as a rule especially coastal is hilly This is what gives it, its dramatic views of the sea and countryside this what makes chycarne a fantastic place with breathtaking views hard to find anywhere else locally or further a field .Overall we are pleased that you enjoyed your stay and we welcome your return visit in the near future Thank you Chycarne

  • Disliked: Over crowded
    Too many dogs

Location not as picture on website
From the manager...

Thank you for leaving your comments There are a few points that i would like to clarify for possible reviewers Firstly the main picture in our advert on pitchup.com is taken from our main touring field accross to Kennack sands Your suggestion that this is not as the picture on the website is factually not true Of course it depends where you are pitched And you were pitched in our summer camping field. The shop is open from 8am to 1pm and then 4pm to 10pm Thats 11 hours in the day open long enough for everyone to do what they need to do. We are a pet friendly park and welcome owners with dogs Clearly there are parks that do not allow pets and these may be better suited to you. As for overcrowding I really don`t understand Too many people too many dogs etc As a holiday park we are busier in the summer six week holidays with children and they are welcome to play and enjoy themselves and make friends. The park away from the six weeks would be probably better suited to you as it is much quieter or a adult only site. We are delighted though that you liked our toilets and shower facilities and the location which shows you can not please every body all of the time. We note your scoring We are positive that you liked the location You feel we offered value for money Don`t understand the accommodation as you clearly provided your own tent You say you liked our showers and toilets but scored us as average You scored us as average for customer servive but thought we were above average for child friendliness and Above average for cleanliness but average overall A little bit confusing But thank you for your visit and leaving your comments Chycarne

Disappointed

(Mature couple, 1 review)   Confirmed

  • Date stayed: Aug 2012

  • Liked: Friendly staff.
Handy for Lizard although other sites better placed closer to main roads
  • Disliked: Toilets or to be more exact the lack of them
Being sited on a grass hill with quite a slope to it.
Lack of consideration of people in tents who just pitched up literally anywhere without thoight for ensuring adequate access routes left open.
    Insufficient waste bins-always overflowing
From the manager...

Sometimes some reviews and the reviewer have issues Thankfully this reviewer opinions are not shared by the majority that visit Chycarne Clearly somepeople are hard to please. It is noted that the summer camping field as a lack of available toilets but within a 50 meter walk there are another 9 toilets available. For 2013 we are adding additional 6 toilets to the summer camping field. As for the slope Pitch 92 is a gentle slope and most motorhome owners generally carry blocks to help them level their unit We would have been more than happy to provide blocks if you required them but we recieved no request to assist The alternative was to request to move pitches for which we would have been more than happy to oblige. Yes you did have the misfortune that a couple pitched there small two man tent in front of the pitch This was rectified on your return with out to much fuss It was a mistake and we really do not understand why you are making such a issue out of a small problem. With regards To insufficient waste bins overflowing this is totally incorrect On occasion there is rubbish left at the foot of the bins this can give a indication to others than the bins are full but we can assure you that this is never the case All bins are attended to through out the day and no rubbish is left on the floor for longer than necassary. Our location is described by most that visit as breathtaking If you want to be pitched next to a main road then clearly you are in the wrong county . Your scoring for chycarne really leaves us in disbelief All the staff are working hard around the clock during the summer weeks and you have shown very little respect to their hard work and dedication in making Chycarne a great place to visit and enjoy what Cornwall as to offer As owners you can clearly see we are very passionate about our park and we would have hope that other people understand that there are always two sides to every story Sadly to often the reviews can leave owners feeling angry but these are only one persons opinions and not shared at all by 99% of visitors Thank you Chycarne

Relaxed, picturesque campsite with good facilities and access to beach

  • Liked: The campsite is a relaxed, friendly, picturesque environment with good facilities (shop, games room, bar, snack hut, shower blocks) and there are also some very nice touches such as chimineas being available. The beach is nice and easily accessible, albiet by a steep and sometimes busy single track road.
  • Disliked: Unfortunately not everyone leaves facilities as they would wish to find them and the Ladies shower block was unusable for a time. There was also a lack of toilets in our area of the site, which sometimes caused a queue.
From the manager...

Thank you for your review Sadly there are a few that show no consideration to other users However the problem was dealt with robustly once it was noted We feel a little disappointed that you scored us 3 out of 5 for cleanliness from behaviour that is out of our control The cleaners work round the clock cleaning the shower blocks. and this does slightly reflect on them. The shower block had to be shut for the cleaning though only a short walk away is our main shower block. We note your comment regarding toilets with in this area We agree and thats why for 2013 an additional 6 toilets will be added and a further 3 washing up stations. But once again the main toilet block is less than a minutes walk from these toilets Thank you Chycarne

Thank you for leaving your review. Alot does depend on what pitch you can be allocated.but Most of the pitches on chycarne are position in away that prevents this type of problem occuring. We will look into ways in which we can prevent this from happening in the future on this pitch But this situation tends to only happen by a lack of camping etiquette by a few individuals but nether the less we do understand and will take action Thank you Chycarne

Thank you for your comments regarding Chycarne. Following many years investment into Drainage it can only really notice and can only be fully appreciated when the rain falls and the ground remains wet but firm making getting about that much more easier on chy carne. Sadly many local campsites and even the bigger holiday parks have not invested into drainage and still suffer from Muddy pitches and muddy/boggy roads and entrances and to often campers are left stuck unable to move with out help. Kennack sands is a wonderful sandy beach with its rock pools at low tide Great for body boarding and of course made safer during the summer months with life guards on duty Chycarne

  • Liked: We were so glad we found a site that accepted student groups and we had a brilliant time. Our caravan was lovely, all the staff were so helpful (especially when we couldn't figure out how to work the oven!) So much value for money. The site itself was bigger than expected, yet still completely tidy and nice. We often used the showers in the block as they were better than the one in the caravan (which we expected) and they were always clean. No problems at all even for five teens with no car! Definitely coming back next year, perhaps for longer!

So pleasantly surprised

  • Liked: There were so many different activities in the area, from horse riding to paint ball and fishing and go karting and a beautiful beach nearby. the staff were friendly and polite, and we got to watch the football on a widescreen Tv in a bar on site, which also had a pool table and table football. We had heard horror stories about places not being like they were advertised, this was happily not the case. There were on site facilities that were not costly at all. internet, showers, well kept toilets with music playing, which we liked. I would happily recommend it too anyone.
  • Disliked: There really isn't that much to say by the way of dislikes, we were all thoroughly pleased, and I am not a big nitpicker.

finding it was a bit tricky but got there in the end

(Mature couple, 1 review)   Confirmed

  • Liked: the site was larger than we expected it to be and booking in was made easy by the helpful staff. the views from the pitch were spectacular. our granddaughter had a great time as well. she would have been happy not to leave the site at all. there was enough to do to keep her amused. close enough to go anywhere but far enough away for peace and quiet. utility blocks were clean and modern and kids were well catered for with the play equipment and the games room. the beach was close enough to walk to (although coming back UP the hill was a challenge!) the staff were friendly and welcoming and went out of their way to ensure you were well looked after. the shop, pizza place, food outlet were great too. would deffinitely go back there again.
  • Disliked: the fact that it was advertised (even on the board at the entrance, that it was a 'quiet' park. it was...until the evening when the marquee/bar got up and running and the noise was dreadful - and deffinitely NOT quiet. it went on till late. would make sure next tie i went that i was NOWHERE near the bar tent!!! although i doubt there is anywhere on the site that it could not be heard!!!
wasn't too impressed that the showers were money metered AND kept going off every 50 seconds or so!!!
From the manager...

Thank you for your review We encourage all visitors to share there experience with us. We have at chycarne worked very hard to cater for all that visit. We note your comments regarding noise from the Marquee /bar. We have looked into this and sound checks are carried out to ensure that noise levels don`t reach a unacceptable level. Very often we find the level of noise is carried on the wind and can sound louder that it actually is. There are areas on the park that are not effected at all by any noise that may come from the marquee. Our bar and marquee is only open during the six weeks holiday,Whitsun,Easter. Whitsun was unique this year given the Queens Jubilee the park was much busier that usual and adult and children activities were organised Howerver this is not a norm. We note your mention regarding showers As owners we are very aware of our responsibilies to the environment. Non concussive valves were fitted to the showers to ensure that water wastage was reduced to a minimum. The charge was introduce to prevent misuse with too often visitors spending in excess of 20 to 30 minutes in the shower creating queues that can be avoided. Since the charge was introduced queues have dropped dramatically further more subsequently since introducing the charge we have lowered our tariff for camping at Chycarne. Please note we are a VAT registered business and all our prices are inclusive of VAT. unlike many smaller sites that are VAT exempt We believe that we offer real value for money given all the facilities and costs involved in operting them. Thank you and we look forward to seeing you again Chycarne

  • Liked: It was a lovely campsite with very friendly staff on hand.

Fantastic facilities, well maintained and cleaned regulary. There are showers and an onsite shop and Marquee bar aswell as hot food and drink shack.

We stayed midweek to weekend in some very heavy rain and wind but this didnt dampen our spirits on our stay.

    Would highly recommend.

Nice quiet location but not impressed with the showers (that you have to pay for each use)

  • Liked: The location is lovely - very quiet but has an on-site beer tent and hot snack bar. There is also a pub within walking distance. Loved the sea views.
  • Disliked: The shower facilities - the showers were not as clean as I would have thought (cobwebs around the windows, dust on the toilet cistern). I was also surprised to find that you had to pay for the showers and hairdryer seperately (50p for 5 mins and then 10p per min thereafter)
On-site shop - the shop was expensive and not very clean/organised (looked like a stock room)
From the manager...

Dear reviewer We have taken note of your comments However we are surprised of your dislikes Our shower blocks and toilets are cleaned a least a mimimum of three times aday. Your review does not reflect the majority of reviews and compliments that we recieve. We made a decision to introduce a charge for showers for a number of reasons explained in a previous review. Many visitors fully understand this and accept that businesses have to make difficult decisions about there charges Hairdryers are not free nor are they free in any other campsite i know. I do believe we all have to pay for the electric at home as well and buying the equipment. Our shop also has a operating cost and there will be very little point in providing a shop for basic items if it runs at a loss Please remember it is not Tescos and we bearly break even once all the costs are met. We try hard to provide a wider range of items on site, Our shop is well stocked and we acknowledge that we need more space but it is organised but maybe not to your liking. Like the shower blocks our shop is cleaned daily . Clearly your views are not expressed by many of our visitors. I would suggest that you are unhappy overall about the charge for showers. We take all reviews seriously but on ocassion we find some of them pety and offer no real understanding of how and what is involved to operate a business like a holiday park chy carne

clean friendly family ran site

  • Liked: Just got back from a extra long weekend at this site, the whole of my family had a fantastic, fun packed time over the Jubilee bank holiday, plenty of family fun, bingo and quiz nights, lovely food through out the day and a bar in the marquee, the campsite was very clean and tidy with good size pitches and a great family atmosphere, would highly recommend this site to other families. We loved our time here so much that we have booked up again for the summer
  • Disliked: All the joys that come with camping like wet grass, but then again I would only moan if the grass was too long. So thats a no win situation when it come to camping in wet weather
From the manager...

Dear Reviewer, We welcome all truthful and honest reviews. We are delighted that you enjoyed your stay at Chy Carne. Sadly Chy Carne like many other hard working businesses are subject to dirty tactics from other campsites/pubs of a similar nature, normally local. We appreciate positive and negative feedback. This helps us to make improvements. However some reviewers clearly will complain and write negative comments with out even considering what they are saying. Operating and managing a park like Chy Carne takes a lot of effort and hard work. Chy Carne is situated within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and therefore are restricted as to various planning regulations regarding extra facilities and the environment. Like all businesses of a similar nature we are unable to provide a toilet for every customer as well as a shower and sadly customers will from time to time have to queue at busy periods. We always welcome feedback and are very approachable to hear suggestions on how we can improve our site and facilities. It is very disappointing when a reviewer can mislead and write misleading comments. Once again we are delighted that you enjoyed your stay and a warm welcome on your return will be afforded to you. Chy Carne

very poor facilities

(Family with young children, 1 review)   Confirmed

  • Liked: reasonable price and good location
  • Disliked: they only had 2 toilets on the campsite, which was packed for jubilee weekend and also charged for showers and even 2 use plug sockets and the so called arcade was a joke.
From the manager...

We all at Chy Carne welcome honest and truthful reviews. Sadly your review fulls short of this. "It was probably the weather".

On Chy Carne we have two shower blocks. Our main shower block that firstly is cleaned a minimum of three times a day. However in bad weather keeping the floor clean can be difficult in the main walkways. This block also has 9 toilets and two urinals. Our summer camping block does have two toilets and two urinals and is also cleaned three times a day. During our summer months we have 5 resident cleaners cleaning these blocks around the clock. These two blocks are a only a short distance from each other and visitors are permitted to use either as they choose. In total there are 12 toilets and four urinals on site.

A decision was made to introduce a charge for showers for a number of reasons. Firstly following a number of recommendations by visitors to prevent a continual misuse. This as reduced waiting times at busy periods. Secondly many sites factor in showers in to their costs. We removed the cost thus reducing the cost of camping at Chy Carne. Thirdly following a large investment into our own private water supply and pumping system for our showers, we can guarantee hot constant running water on demand. Fourthly as a business that takes the environment seriously water conservation is a big issue and should be taken very seriously. We have taken our responsibilities very seriously and feel that more businesses should do the same.

Sadly electric is not free and once again equipment firstly needs to be bought at a commercial rating. Then installed and then maintained and then serviced and then paid for. If everything is free how does a business replace and upgrade equipment when required?

At Chy Carne we have invested a great deal of time and investment in to improving the park. This investment continues every year. Investment does takes money. Two years ago we replaced our old reception with a new block that contained a children's arcade. Sadly the company supplying the arcade equipment, like many other companies, have ceased trading. We are unable to date to find a suitable replacement. Arcade machines are very expensive and are notorious for breaking down. So without a suitable service company to support breakdowns it is a very difficult situation to get around.

We further note that in your scoring that you scored us a low rating for child friendliness. We are really taken back by this. Throughout the whole of the Jubilee weekend, events were arranged for children. Chy Carne is a small campsite and is not a Parkdean or Haven site. If you require on-site children entertainment then clearly you need to plan your visits to these type of parks. Clearly we can not please everybody but we do try.

A passing comment to all would-be reviewers: too often small situations can result into a bigger issue. Chy Carne receives many reviews on all web engines - to get a honest and truthful appraisal look at them all. Thank you for your time. Chy Carne.

  • Liked: We liked the location as we went to lands end and Falmouth in one day but if you have a family it is only down the road from flambards and RNAS culdrose which you can do tours of the base.
The site has a marque bar on site which hold bingo and quizs but there is also a pub a minutes walk down the road which shows the sports.

Thank you for your review We read all reviews positive or some with suggestions for improvement. We are not negative and fully understand that we can not always please absolutely every one. We tend to notice that visitors experience tends to be more positive if the weather is bright and sunny. though even in bad weather Cornwall is very dramatic with great stormy seas crashing into the coastline. Chycarne is ideally located with many local main attractions on its doorsteps. Our views from the site are stunning Every day you will never get bored looking at the views We hope to see you again Thank you Chycarne
