Friendly and scenic

  • Liked: Very friendly and welcoming staff. Fire pits are a nice touch. Large pitches and good facilities. Close to Brighton.
  • Disliked: It is a bit hilly so finding a flat pitch is tricky but then that's what you get when camping in the South Downs.

  • Liked: **The shower/toilet facilities were very good. Although the shower is an outdoor one, it is very in-keeping with the whole camping experience that Housedean farm is trying to achieve.

**Very quiet campsite (at least while we were there)

** Every pitch is a very good size with your own designated fire pit so you can have your own fire.

** The views from the campsite are amazing and theres a wide variety of good walks through the south downs.

** A petrol station is a short 10 minute walk up the road where you can buy everything you need if you are short on food or drink.
  • Disliked: ** The campsite is on a hill, the only truly flat part being at the edge of the campsite, at the bottom of the hill. Obviously this is a bit of a problem as if it rained heavily all the water would run down the hill into your tent!! We pitched at the top of the hill to prevent this but that was really the only pitch I could see where you wouldn't get washed away if it rained and was flat enough to not roll to the end of your tent while trying to sleep.

** Campsite is situated literally just off the A27 so the sound of traffic is obviously constant throughout the night (although to me this isn't a problem, it might be for others)
From the manager...

Hi there, thanks very much for the comments and glad that you enjoyed your stay. Unfortunately the topography and the road are 2 things that we can't control! However, rest assured that however much it rains, the bottom of the field never gets waterlogged - its the main benefit of the site being on chalk ground. Its very well drained! Hope to see you again.
