Great site, fairly basic but includes essentials + nice location

  • Liked: Peaceful site, fairly small but good facilities, size of site meant everything was easy to find. Toilet block showers were quite clean and convenient to use, and electric and water hookups were on all the touring pitches. Site is just across from the angling lakes, we went for the fishing which was excellent. The Ship Inn nearby has a great atmosphere and serves amazing food. Staff at the park are friendly and willing to help, and the office is open from 9 until 5 most of the time. I would definately recommend this place for those who enjoy fishing .
  • Disliked: Nearest pub to walk to was 2 miles away .

4 day carp fishing trip

  • Liked: The fishing on Rush Lake was perfect for me. No specimen fish in this lake but some very heathly and enjoyable 5-15lb sport. These we mainly common and mirror carp on my hook, but a friend landed bream and roach on lighter tackle.
The campsite and hard standings are good and each has its own electric hook-up and drinking water - no problems with these.
The campsite toilet and showers where clean and very useable, although I tended to use my campervan facilities.
Overall it is a very well managed and friendly campsite and fishery, but probably most well suited to the touring fisherman, wildlife addicts and walkers rather than touring families. Very quiet at night.
Oh, the on-site butchery is a real bonus and The Ship pub a short distance down the road offers meals and beers not to be missed.

Lovely area to camp and this site is great if you are wanting to fish

(Young couple, 1 review)   Confirmed

  • Liked: The scenery, quiet area away from road - reasonable rates. Hook ups on every pitch. Very good shower and toilet wagon with hot water and clean.
  • Disliked: Not easy to find the entrance if you are travelling from the west because of the situation of the sign. No one to welcome us on arrival other than some other campers who had been waiting for ages to be shown where to go and had decided to work it out for themselves by this point. The manager was riding around the site on a quad bike and we met him on the way to the site. There are no footpaths from this site to go walking and the road to the nearest village and pub! has no footoath so you have to use transport. There were no lights in the toilet block (apparantly they had been having problems with them according to the site worker, but one camper went round the back of the unit and announced that they were not working because they weren 't plugged in!!!) Also there were no bins on site, which when you are on a motorbike as we were was not helpful.
