Will be nice when it's finished. Thoughtful design but a little too many pitches and felt a little cramped.

QUIET SITE BUT VERY VERY TIGHT ENTRANCE 29/09/2018

We enjoyed the peace and quiet of the site and the pitch was huge plenty of space to move around and fairly level pitch not sure how it would have been on a wet day as grass was quite long. Toilet itself was clean but the rooms could do with a bit of a sweep and clean also very small only just enough room to turn around in there.

    Disliked:

Very very tight turn into the lane leading to the site also very very narrow with residents cars parked on the lane we squeezed by but could hear the trees scratching the side/roof of the motorhome so not impressed with that at all
    .
Also very very tight turn into the site entrance it really needs a note on the booking info telling people how tight it is we are 7.8 mts long and we only just got in. It states on the booking site no twin axle vehicles but really this site is not suitable for anything longer than 7 mts but you will still have the issue of width getting past the parked cars

once in the site its a very steep hill to get to your pitch but once on the pitch its pretty flat and level.

would I return no sorry to much risk of damaging your vehicle getting in and out

We caught some late-season good weather for a 3 nights stay. Nick was very welcoming and helpful - and busy with the on-going improvements. It's a really nice back-to-basics campsite in a great location. Good sized pitches - just needs those extra showers ready for next year! Would recommend two nearby pubs - the Crispin and the Pack Horse (Little Longstone). Took the bike hire from Blackwell Mill (good prices and friendly service) for the Monsal Trail and enjoyed a nice local 4 mile loop-walk starting from Dale Farm. All in all a great weekend break under canvas.

A good, clean, basic site, no fancy clubs, bars,or over-the-top amenities.
Set on the hill-side, but all pitches are terraced and fairly level.
Good access to public footpaths, and the Monsal Trail. There are two good pubs in very easy walking distance, and also a little chapel in Little Longstone where you can partake tea, coffee and biscuits for a donation.

This is a lovely site for a relaxing and peaceful "away from it all" stay. Pitches are well laid out with all the basic facilities you could ask for with a new facilities block already planned. Walks and bike rides from this site are all fabulous. Some super pubs close at hand for a drink or a delicious meal.

Friendly owners with tips on walks and lots of local knowledge. Don't miss the walk up the hill and along the ridge!

    Disliked:

Some of the notices give a completely wrong impression, appearing quite negative. I suspect that the owners have had some bad experiences when visitors have forgotten that they are actually guests at Dale Farm and that this is the reason for the rather abrupt wording of some notices. Our experience of the owners was really positive.
