Lower Porthamel is a beautiful campsite and one of the best we've stayed at in twenty years of camping trips. From the warm, friendly welcome and the spotless facilities to the spacious, pick your own pitch in the orchard, Lower Porthamel is a lovely place to stay. There are many little extras - such as the free use of the firepits, phone charging facilities, the nature trail/river walk and the micro brewery on site. Would very highly recommend camping at Lower Porthamel.

Perfect site for beginner campers and families. Facilities was on point including clean washrooms, fridge/freezer and power outlets. Host David was very helpful and accommodating and gives you great info and what to do's in the local area and around. Offered us a fire pit and fire wood to set the scene and even makes pretty good apple juice from the orchard, bought 3 bottles! The teenagers liked the river nearby and the crayfish in it. Perfect clean quiet campsite and a more than capable host. Many thanks David.

Wished we stayed longer

Wonderful site. Had rained before we arrived and lane through orchard was very muddy from cars accessing to load/unload but luckily we had wellies. Excellent toilet/shower/washup facilities. Owner was friendly and very forthcoming with advice/assistance. Drinking water, charging facilities, fridge/freezer, BBQ, pizza oven, firewood all close by in orchard. Lovely circular nature trail down through fields and along dismantled railway by river. Many of the pitches had a picnic bench. Swings and a go-cart for kids. The fruit from the trees attract lots of wasps. This site was our kids favorite, they wanted to stay but we had to move on.

Everything about this site and the owners, was just perfect! A lovely welcome with plenty of information offered about the site and the surrounding area. You can pitch where you like in the orchard with no marked pitches-informal camping. Fire pits available, free of charge. Wood can be bought from ow ners ir, take your own.The facilities are beautifully kept and sufficient in number. Fridge and freezer available and electrical, charging points for phones etc.
We will return, it's that good!

De locatie is fantastisch met enorm vriendelijke campingeigenaren. We voelden ons zeer welkom. Ze hadden veel tips om te doen in de omgeving. Voor de kinderen was er genoeg te spelen en zij hebben zich heel goed vermaakt. De faciliteiten waren super netjes

Lovely site. Clean facilities. Very friendly owners. Have absolutely no complaints whatsoever. We all had a lovely stay and the kids didn't want to leave!
