Everything was as described, extremely generous pitches, free fire pits (logs to buy), and great showers and washing up facilities, also free and with hot water. Very helpful friendly owner, excellent communication.

Claire was super welcoming and friendly, enjoying a kick about with my son while we had a natter on arrival. She was also really helpful when I had a problem with my car and saved the day! The facilities are spotless and adequate for the number of people staying on the bank holiday weekend we were there. The views are lovely and the pitches are spaced out so you have some room to spread out. The firepits on each pitch are great with the wood being fairly priced onsite. The family room is a big bonus when getting children showered etc. I wish all sites had one!

It really pains me to write this bit as right up until our last night we were planning many return visits as we truly loved this site. Unfortunately, one of the male campers was letting his dog run wild and it was antagonising other dogs on their pitch that were on leads after squaring up to my child aggressively. When our neighbour asked him politely to come get his dog, he came over to her pitch and proceeded to verbally abuse her and threatened to punch her in the face and then he hurt her dog. He then was verbally abusive and aggressive to me in front of my child. It was very scary. We reported this to Claire and she had a word with him but unfortunately nothing more was done about it as he promised to keep his dog on a lead. Neither myself (a single mum with a young child) or the woman who was threatened, felt safe enough to stay on the site overnight with a group of abusive men (the other 2 in the group were shouting profanities as the altercation was happening). We were left with no option but to hurriedly pack up in the dark and leave. Claire did refund me that night’s pitch fee but I was still out of pocket as I had to get a hotel room and breakfast due to being too tired to drive the 2.5 hours home after a long day. I feel its only fair to say that Claire was in a very difficult situation as a lone female herself and was obviously upset by what was happening and did all she felt she could do at that time. I do believe that a zero-tolerance policy regarding violence and threats of violence should be present on campsites with the police being called to handle such incidences in order to keep both campers and campsite owners safe. If such a policy was in place and enforced, we would be back to Rowbury Farm in a heartbeat as it truly is one of the nicest sites I’ve been to.

Only 2 toilets and showers for each gender. Fine for our stay as there were only 5 campers on site, but could be an issue if the site was full.
Lack of paths/pavements to get from the site to walks, pubs etc. But that's not the campsite's fault!

Such a peaceful site with lovely views. A real opportunity to get away from it all and truly relax. Nice walks to a beautiful pub on the river (40 mins) and to Danebury Hillfort (80 mins). The site is beautifully kept and the pitches are a great size. Fabulous toilets and showers with instant and plentiful hot water. The site owners are also very friendly :)

Claire was really helpful and friendly. Campfires encouraged! Firewood for a fiver with honesty box by the facilities. Didn’t use the showers but they looked great, proper toilet and shower blocks with instant hot water - a bonus at chillier times of year! Loved how the site was divided up. It’s really level and each pitch has loads of space so you feel like you have your own area and you’re not on top of others. In summer there would be wild flowers here. Two pubs within walking distance, we went to the Mayfly which is a beautiful pub right on the river. Took us about half an hour to walk there. Site had full signal and 3G for us both. In a great location for visiting Stonehenge or Avebury. We went to Avebury (an hours drive away) and had a lovely day out. Stonehenge even closer. There are Kites everywhere and other creatures! Felt like a real wildlife haven. Even with the weather still being quite cool in the evenings we had a great time. We’d love to come back in the summer for the wildflowers! Thanks Claire!

If I had to pick any negative I’d say that only two washing up sinks for quite a big site didn’t feel like quite enough. But having to queue meant I had a nice chat with the other campers!
