Large and private plot.

Difficult to find as no signage. Not a country club as you would imagine it to be. Nothing open. No-one on site. Chemical toilet disposal system v poor and unhygienic especially on these Covid times. The hose dangles down into the waste funnel. No recycling bins.

Quiet site in nice village with large pitches.
We were met straight away after going through the gate by a friendly lady who pointed to the pitch area but then left us saying we could choose our own pitch.
Pub - The Tickled Trout - a few minutes walk away. Short cut by leaving pitches,turning right and going through a gate which takes you to a small housing estate just off the main road.
Got bus into Chesterfield by walking the same way to the bus stop on the main road.

Postcode is wrong. Can't understand why this hasn't been updated yet.
Even following the correct postcode it's not very well signposted.
Shop and toilet/shower block closed and no tourist info.
One Elsan point which was a bit "grotty".
Large pile of dog mess on the grass where the pitches are so this must have been left by a customer's dog. Bad that they couldn't be bothered to pick it up.
There was a wedding reception in the field next to the pitches and there was loud music playing into the evening but it didn't go on too late.
Booked a table at the Tickled Trout but the meals and drinks were quite expensive and we didn't think worth the money. It's obviously the going rate though as it's in a popular tourist area and not far from places like Chatsworth. Good job we walked there as the car park soon got full and people were having to park on the street.

Wimbledon doubles- court size pitches surrounded by privacy hedges. Bowling green manicured grass surrounds. Wembley size exercise field tended to an excellent standard. Extensive walks on public right of way and around fishing ponds which, again, are superbly maintained. Electric and water individual to pitch.
Lovely local pubs and 4 miles to all facilities in Chesterfield.

Pitch up giving wrong post code; actual code is S18 not S17.
Site is difficult to find. Suggest directions modified- past Tickled Trout first right into road marked "unsuitable for HGV", first right at house with impressive topiary, ignoring sign "Strictly Private". Through courtyard to five bar gate top left, marked "Strictly private-fishing clients only". On for 50 yards to turn right into caravan site through narrow entrance between obsolete finger barrier pillars that make entrance tighter than it seems.
Discovering walks around fishing ponds challenging. Lake side restaurant aimed more at fishermen at the ponds as it is a 10-15 minute walk over a single plank bridge and along the track through two sets of farm gates all signed "private- Fishing access only".
Shame this excellent site appears to be so uninviting.

Not enough lights round the camp site. No shop.

Size of pitches. Location. Quiet.

Expensive. Hard to find.

Very large well maintained pitches totally private as bordered by conifer hedging.
Lovely quiet location with beautiful country walks along the fishing lakes and into woodland.
Very picturesque scenery.
Lots of tourist attractions within 30 mins drive.

Lack of signage to camp site. Owner said this is on his to do list. Directions given by Pitchup could be clearer. Surrounding roads are very narrow and difficult to turn around with a 9 metre motorhome towing a Fiat 500 so campers with large units beware!

Shop closed - not sure why.
Toilet & washing facilities closed due to Covid.
I felt the cost is overpriced considering all facilities are closed.

Lovely clean site, idea for fishing brilliant lakes near by. On going site project. So when on-site facilities built be top draw.

Pitches

No signs to show where site was but was told they on order.

What a great site water and electric on each pitch, each pitch is nice and private with minimal levelling up to do.
The couple that own the site are nice and friendly and just leave you to get on with you stay.
The walks around the site and fishing lakes are fantastic.
Great friendly pubs within walking distance.
All in all a great place to stay.

Lack of signage.

Just a little note though, when your Sat Nav says you have arrived, look right or left, it looks like you are going onto some ones drive as the signage isn’t very good, LOOK FOR THE OVAL PLAQUE ON THE WALL.
