We recently stayed at Greenhill Leisure Park and unfortunately it wasn’t a great experience.
The signage to the park was very poor. There were no clear directions provided in the booking email or on the website. It would have been helpful to mention that you need to follow signs for Greenhill Farm, as the park is located next to it. We drove around longer than necessary trying to find it.
Our pitch was extremely muddy — far worse than others nearby — due to a leak coming from the water pumps. When we raised this with the manager, she dismissed our concern and said it was like that everywhere, which it clearly wasn’t. No solution was offered until we specifically asked to be moved to a drier pitch.
The crafts shop on site (which was one of the reasons I was looking forward to staying, as I’m into crafts) was supposed to be open until 5pm but had closed at 3pm. The manager told us it’s independent and sometimes closes early if it’s quiet, and suggested we come back the next day. Unfortunately, it was pouring with rain, so that wasn’t practical.
When we asked about things to do locally — shops, pubs, etc. — we were told there’s one Co-op and a pub that has been closed for a while. We also asked about nearby bus or train links and were simply told there aren’t any, with no alternative suggestions offered. The website also advertises an on-site shop, but we were told there isn’t one.
We had hoped to walk to a nearby town or pub as the weather had improved and we didn’t want to drive, but there were no options. Overall, we were disappointed with both the facilities and the customer service and won’t be returning.
